Nazi forces were sent by Adolf Hitler, a German dictator. Then the Japanese government and Italian dictator Benito Mussolini joined Hitler to build the Axis Powers. Most of Europe was under German control. The Nazis took over Germany, France, Holland, and other countries. Hitler was a very good orator. He used this to his advantage and urged the Germans to fight against these countries. In 1941 Italy surrendered. The Japanese bombed Hawaii and this resulted in the United States entering the world war against the Axis Powers. The Allies were Russia, America, The United Kingdom, and France.

On June 6, 1944, the Allies invaded German-0ccupied France. The allied invasion was called “D-Day.” It was the deadliest conflict of history. After that, the Soviets attacked Berlin.

Hitler committed suicide, and on May 7th, 1945, Germany surrendered.
But the Americans were still engaged in a battle with Japan. The Americans dropped two atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Japan surrendered. That was the end of World War 2.
The Second World War was a terrible war. Many people died and a lot of places were damaged. But the nations also came together to try to envision a more peaceful world at a global level.
