Wildhive Callow Hall’s coach house, garden, courtyard and potting shed have been transformed with new facilities in alignment with the Wildhive brand’s ‘wellbeing in nature’ philosophy. Wellness consultant Erin Lee worked on The Coach House project. Charles Randall, co-founder of the Wildhive Collection, told Spa Business: “The inspiration for The Coach House came straight from the landscape around us. The Peak District is a place of contrasts, of high open moorland and sheltered dales, and that’s the rhythm we’ve built the experience around – moving between the heat of the sauna, the shock of the cold plunge and the quiet of the Potting Shed.”

KALA DESIGN GROUP

Are we creating environments that help people reconnect with themselves or ones that require constant mediation? Ana Ramirez, Kala Design Group

The missing pillar Ana Ramirez explains the importance of interoception in designing spaces

S

ome spaces invite you to exhale the moment you enter. Others – even those that are beautifully designed – leave the body subtly on edge.

Before we think, the body already knows. This capacity is called interoception: our ability to sense what is happening inside us, such as shifts in breath, tension, fatigue, or ease. It is foundational to how we regulate, restore and ultimately feel well. Yet, despite an industry rich in conversations around sleep, recovery, mindfulness, and longevity, interoception remains largely overlooked. We often design for what can be seen and measured, but not always for what can be felt.

El Nido quite literally means ‘the nest’, a place of refuge and renewal

Heritage Healing Ayala Land's renovated Filipino island resort reveals its Lagen Wellness Sanctuary, complete with traditional spa therapies

L

agen, El Nido – an island resort in Palawan, the Philippines – has completed its transformation with the addition of a spa called Lagen Wellness Sanctuary. The eco-luxury property, which is one of three island destinations managed by El Nido Resorts, completed a year-long renovation in May. El Nido Resorts is owned by Ayala Land Hospitality. The renovation design was led by WATG, Wimberly Interiors Studio, Henning Larsen and Ayala Land Hospitality’s Creative Team, with the new layout cutting the accommodation from 51 to 42 keys, which are comprised of villas, overwater accommodation and rooms surrounded by forest. The resort also now incorporates the work of local artisans and indigenous communities.

Conservation and sustainability were a key factor in the redesign. Original flooring from first-generation structures was repurposed and demolition was minimised. The hotel’s new swimming pool is now cleaned with UV light, rather than chemicals and a low-wattage lighting design minimises pollution of the

night sky to create a turtle-friendly zone along the 200-metre beach.

As we reimagined Lagen, it felt only natural that this philosophy would find its fullest expression in a dedicated space for wellbeing. “We built the wellness sanctuary in response to the way we live today. The Venice Head Spa delivers a deeply immersive treatment

A

s the global spa market evolves, the integration of advanced technology with immersive wellness rituals is becoming increasingly important. Responding to this shift, Lemi has introduced Venice Head Spa – a multifunctional treatment bed designed to enhance both operational efficiency and the guest experience. “With Venice Head Spa, we wanted to go beyond functionality and create a solution that enhances both the guest experience and operational efficiency,” says Matteo Brusaferri, general manager at Lemi. “It reflects our vision of a more integrated, experience-led approach to spa design.” More than a treatment couch, Venice Head Spa is a complete workstation combining three core functions in one solution: massage, manicure/pedicure and Japanese Head Spa treatments. This multifunctional approach enables operators to maximise space utilisation while maintaining high treatment standards and delivering a seamless, holistic guest journey. At the centre of the concept is the retractable wash basin, inspired by the Japanese head spa ritual. Designed to create a continuous, flowing arc
