Our annual Bayhealth Foundation Southern Delaware Golf Tournament is just around the corner! This year’s event will be held on Friday, Sept. 19 at the Southern Delaware Golf Club—and we hope you’ll join us on the course to support an essential cause: the future of nursing at Bayhealth.
As the chief nurse executive, I see firsthand the impact nurses have every single day. Our nurses are trusted leaders, compassionate advocates and highly skilled professionals who are deeply embedded in the communities we serve. From providing hospital bedside care to providing care in local schools, clinician practices and at community events, they are pillars of health and wellness across Delaware.
Bayhealth recently earned its third Magnet® Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center—one of the highest honors in nursing. This distinction is more than a badge of excellence. It affirms that our nurses deliver superior patient outcomes, elevate the patient experience and continuously strive for improvement. It’s no surprise that more than 100 of our team members were recently recognized as Top Nurses in Delaware by Delaware Today.
We are proud to champion continued learning for our nurses by supporting advanced degrees, specialty certifications and leadership development. Funds raised directly support tuition assistance, scholarships, certification opportunities and resources for nurses to care for people with complex needs. It also helps aspiring nurses take their first steps toward this noble and vital profession.

Originally opened in 1960 as a 9-hole course known as Shawnee Country Club, Southern Delaware Golf Club is now a unique 18-hole Parkland style golf course nestled just outside of historic downtown Milford. Opened in May of 2024, the challenging yet fair course has been completely renovated, featuring brand new bunkers and greens sure to delight golfers of all ages and abilities.
