It all started with a small metal workshop in Eastern Finland in 1945. The driving force was the desire to make new types of furniture - durable, easy to use and beautiful - outside, for everyone to use.

In 1990, Finbin City® was born, making the Finbin® brand an internationally renowned brand. The success of City® began from a big design competition organized by the City of Helsinki, which was won by designer Hannu Kähönen and his team. The aim of the competition was to create a litter bin that can be emptied as easily, efficiently and safely as possible.

The design of City®, based on detailed studies and testing, successfully applied the principle of Scandinavian design, which can be summarized in the phrase “Form follows function”.

In the early 2000s, we realized that new technology could not only help our customers, but also significantly reduce the carbon footprint of waste disposal. In 2017, Finbin CitySolar® was launched, the most efficient solar-powered waste compactor on the market that has already conquered the major cities in the Nordic countries.

We would not have lasted since the middle of the last century without the understanding of our brilliant professionals that we can create something new thanks to our customers. Year after year, one customer stands out more and more from all our customers - the environment.

CITYSOLAR COMPACTING SMART WASTE BIN

CitySolar operates 100% on solar energy and is made from durable, 90% recyclable materials. The product is designed with sustainability in mind. The side panels, which can be replaced on-site, can be effortlessly swapped in under 10 minutes. This reduces vandalism-related costs and extends the product’s lifespan.

By optimizing waste collection with smart technology, CitySolar minimizes unnecessary collections, leading to significant savings. The compaction feature of CitySolar smart bins helps increase waste capacity to up to 2000 liters, thus reducing the required collection frequency. CitySolar is the only product on the market where the inner bin can easily be switched between 120/240/360 liters. The inner bin uses a standard 240/360-liter wheeled waste container.

Accurate measurement system

CitySolar’s patented measurement system is reliable and does not trigger false warnings. This ensures that the bin is only emptied when full.

Fill level information in our cloud service

CitySolar reports fill level information to our cloud service. This enables just-in-time emptying to reduce costs.

Finbin Care cloud service

Finbin® Care operates as a cloud-based service, making it accessible via an internet connection on a smartphone or a computer. The service does not require any software installation. Finbin Care allows real-time monitoring of the fill level of CitySolar.

Fill level data to the cloud

CitySolar sends data on the fill level measured by the device, as well as the number of times the lid has been opened, to the cloud service.

Automatic maintenance request

The maintenance request is automatically sent to the responsible party based on the fill level set by the customer.

The map view provides an overview of the entire situation.

In addition to the fill level, the service allows viewing of the basic information and location of the devices on a map. Other street furniture can also be added to the service, allowing them to be displayed with their details in the consolidated map view.

CITYPACK SPACIOUS WASTE BIN EXPANDS INTO A SORTING STATION

CityPack is ideal for streets and parks where large amounts of waste are collected, but compaction is not necessary. CityPack pairs well with the compacting CitySolar smart waste bin, as it matches CitySolar in appearance.

CityPack’s design can be customized to match the customer’s brand with color choices and decals.

FEATURES

CityPack is made from durable materials—stainless steel and galvanized powder-coated steel. Optional accessories for CityPack include a deposit return tube, ashtray, or sorting openings for paper and bottles.

A standard 240-liter waste container fits inside CityPack, making it very easy and ergonomic to empty. For 360-liter capacity, please inquire with our sales team.

The authentic and original City® is manufactured in Finbin Lehtovuori’s factory in Finland.

CITY® AUTHENTIC AND ORIGINAL CLASSIC

The product design of City® in the 1990s was based on results of detailed surveys and tests. The design team, led by Hannu Kähönen, was tasked with creating a litter bin that could be emptied as easily, safely and efficiently as possible.

The City® litter bins have conquered the world since the 1990s, and have already been ordered in more than 40 countries. The design process also developed a sturdy product that resists vandalism and endures long-term mechanical strain.

The international demand for the City® Series grew quickly after winning a major design contest organised by the City of Helsinki in the 1990s.

The versatile City® Series comes with numerous accessories. City® bins can be found in the streets, parks, housing association yard areas, shopping centres, airports and indoor facilities of various urban environments worldwide. All City® litter bins are manufactured in Finland.

FEATURES

City® litter bins are made from extremely sturdy and high-quality galvannealed structural steel or structural steel. The secure triangular lock is a standard accessory. Magnetic fastening is also available. The bins are powder-coated. In addition to the standard colour options, a wide range of special RAL colours is offered. The surface of galvannealed coating is slightly rough. Paint adheres better to a galvannealed surface than a galvanised surface. A painted galvannealed surface is very resistant to corrosion. Based on an official ISO 12944-6 test, the corrosion protection rating of City® litter bins’ material is C4.

Trouble with vandalism?

Sometimes locks on litter bins are broken to gain access to deposit bottles. We have solved this problem with a magnetic fastening which is available to replace the triangular lock of the City® products.

All City® litter bins can be fitted with accessories for attaching them to a wall or post or mounting them into the ground.

A ground post is available with or without fixed fasteners. In the latter case, you will also need two post fasteners. City® 60 can be fastened to a lamp post, ensuring that access to the service hatch is not obstructed.

A plate post is an excellent choice when you want to place a post bin indoors, for example. The plate post can be bolted onto the base.

Use a handy wall mount to install a bin onto a wall. There are two wall mount sizes available. The right size is determined by the bin size.

There are three base options: light metal base, sturdy concrete base and metal inground base.

The award-winning Ellipse litter bin, designed by Max Bruun, is manufactured in Finland. Ellipse stays clean thanks to its sloped top.

The fill level of Ellipse is precisely dimensioned and the structure of the bin is durable and stable. The bin is easy to use and maintain. The design keeps birds and rain out of the inner container.

The impressive and practical Combi ashtray is available in our standard colours. The bottom has a hinged emptying hatch with a triangular lock. Awall-mounting bar is provided and optional post fasteners can be purchased as an accessory. Combi material is stainless steel and it is also available in a powder-painted version.

PLAZA EASE OF USE AND CAPACITY

Plaza is a stylish, sturdy and large outdoor litter bin. The exterior of the bin can be customised according to the customer’s brand colours. Plaza outdoor bin is suitable for public places with large traffic volumes, such as parks and city streets.

FEATURES

The structure and the aperture of Plaza prevent vandalism as the surface of the bin is not easy to smudge. The fully open top aperture also fits large waste, such as food packages. The inner container is emptied by opening the sidehinged, locked door. It is recommended to use a refuse sack in the inner container. Plaza can be anchored to solid ground with bolts or installed on a separate concrete base.

ARCHIE SUPERMARKETS' PRACTICAL WORKHORSE

Archie is a practical refuse sack holder that is suitable for indoor use for example, in kiosks, fast food restaurants and commercial centres.

FEATURES

The apertures on both sides, the hinged top and hinged door in the front, make it easy to use and empty Archie. Archie is emptied by lifting one side of the hinged and curved top and opening the hinged door in the front in order to change the refuse sack.

ROBOMAT STANDARD FURNITURE IN SERVICE STATIONS

The Robomat family includes a litter bin with or without a towel rack and an absorbent container.

Robomat endures demanding use, blends in well in the building fronts or service station fuel dispenser areas, and can be customised according to the company brand image.

FEATURES

Robomat products withstand demanding use. The material is powder-coated steel. Robomat products are free-standing, but they can be bolted to the base, if necessary. Robomat products are manufactured in Finland.

The hinged front of the Robomat product opens to the side of the container. The absorption container panel is quickly available for the absorption of a liquid damage.

MODERN RECYCLING SOLUTION FOR EKOCITY URBAN ENVIRONMENTS

EkoCity is a spacious recycling bin with a design focused on its sharp appearance and easy usability. EkoCity bins can be combined into sorting stations where the bins can be placed side by side or back-to-back. The sorting can be guided with colors and labels.

EkoCity is best suited for urban environments, both in- and outdoors.

FEATURES

The hatch of the EkoCity is placed on top of the bin. The hatch opens manually or hygienically with a foot pedal.

The standard 240 L waste bin with wheels is suitable as the inner bin of EkoCity. The design of the base has taken into consideration the easy mobility and maintenance of the inner bin.

In addition to the even floor, the 45-degree corners at the bottom allow the washing water to drain from the walls to the floor, where the water is easy to remove. The material is high-quality powder-coated galvanized steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.

BERMUDA ELEGANT RECYCLING BIN FOR INDOORS

The stylish Bermuda is specifically designed as an indoor recycling bin. The dual bin, triple bin and quad bin versions of Bermuda are suitable for recycling two, three or four different types of waste materials. The subtly stylish Finbin Edge indoor recycling bin is suitable for all indoor facilities and the modular recycling bins can be combined into a stylish waste collection point. The rectangular, streamlined design makes the Edge recycling bin well suited for office facilities, public spaces, hospitals, campuses, sports halls, exhibition facilities and convention centres, with variable recycling needs. Edge bins are also suitable for environments of a more classic style, such as museums.

Thanks to the handy locking system, only those with a key can use the collection point. The sturdy structure keeps rodents away.

Modul products are made of marine grade aluminium which suits the changeable weather conditions of the North. The anticorrosive material is not damaged by road salt or residue of household waste.

MODUL FIRE SAFETY

A fireproof bin store can be placed next to a building wall

A fireproof version is available for every Modul bin store model. Fireproof bin stores can be placed right next to a building.

Fireproof Modul bin stores have been tested using a VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd.-developed test method (test report: VTT-S-4706-16).

According to the test, locked fireproof Modul bin stores can be placed right next to a building. This allows flexible placement even in

smaller courtyards.

Finbin shelters have a long tradition and come in wide range. All of them are designed and manufactured for long-term use.

The timeless and durable Finbin shelters are ideal for public environments, commercial properties, schools, residential areas, etc. The different size options, shapes and the wide range of colors offer almost limitless possibilities for furnishing the environment.

The Finbin shelters represent Finnish design, where functionality meets practicality. The basis of the user-oriented design is to provide durable and safe products. A long life service has been sought in the design of the product and in the choice of the materials, and recyclable materials are used in the manufacture.

In addition to the standard product range, we also offer our customers customized solutions. The customized solution can be a standard product adapted with certain colors to match the surroundings or architecture, or a completely new product that is specifically designed for a project and manufactured according to the customer’s requirements.

ZINC-BASED PRIMER PREVENTS CORROSION IN A MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY WAY

All our shelters are treated with a zinc-based primer before powder coating. This extends the product’s lifespan by protecting the material from corrosion. Compared to traditional hop-dip galvanizing, zinc-based priming zinc-based priming is a significantly more environmentally friendly option

OUR SHELTERS ARE CE-MARKED

The durability of the supporting structures and the quality of the manufacturing are very important factors in the shelter solutions. When purchasing a bicycle shelter, a bus stop shelter, or any other shelter type, it is important to ensure the supplier demonstrates compliance with the EN1090-1 construction product standard for conformity assessment of structural components.

The CE-marking in accordance with the EU Construction Products Regulation became mandatory for supporting steel structures on the 1 July 2014, which also applies to the supporting structures of the shelters. The CE marking indicates that the features of the manufactured product have been defined and verified in a consistent manner. ViVa shelters are well suited for access parking, which can be implemented by combining different shelter types of the product family.

VIVA bus stop shelter

The simply stylish ViVa bus stop shelter gives unobstructed visibility to traffic. The shelter can be equipped with a bench, notice board, litter bin and ashtray. The walls are made of tempered glass, and the ceiling is polycarbonate.

Vario is a flexible choice as a shelter for bicycle parking. The shelter can be equipped with different types of racks, 1- or 2-sided, and the width of the shelter section can be selected accordingly. CUBIQ BICYCLE RACKS

THE MOST DIVERSE BIKE RACK SOLUTION ON THE MARKET

CubiQ Premium and Standard are truly modular bike rack models, where the distance between the arches can be freely adjusted by the customer, also after installation. There are one- and two-sided versions of both CubiQ models, and CubiQ can also be used to create long rows of bike racks. The three-step adjustment of the arches’ angle lets you point them left, right or to the centre. To make the choice a little easier, we offer three standard distances for the arches: 420, 500, 600 mm.

The CubiQ product family is fully compatible with our ViVa, Vario and Basic shelters.

BSAFE 4 / 9 battery locker

BSAFE is designed for housing associations, businesses, and commercial properties that need a safe solution for storing e-bike batteries without charging capability. The battery cabinet enables centralized storage of e-bike batteries, thereby reducing the risk of battery fires in buildings. The locker is available in two different sizes: 9 compartments or 4 compartments. The 9-compartment locker is secured to the ground, for example, to concrete, while the 4-compartment locker can be mounted either on the wall or to the ground.

BSAFE charge 9 charging locker

BSAFE Charge is designed for institutions, businesses, regions, and municipalities that want to provide a safe charging solution for e-bike batteries. The charging cabinet helps our customers manage safety risks by centralizing the charging of e-bike batteries in one location, keeping the batteries out of indoor environments where the risk of fire is higher. The BSAFE Charge 9 charging cabinet features nine compartments with code locks and a service hatch. The cabinet is secured to the ground with bolts, for example, into concrete.

The BSAFE Charge 9 charging cabinet has an IP44 protection rating, which means it is not waterproof but prevents water from reaching electrical components and is resistant to dust and splashing water.

Kuru benches and tables are manufactured at Finbin’s factory in Finland.

KURU

Designed and manufactured in Finland, the Kuru bench stands out from traditional wooden benches not only in style but also in accessibility. The steel frame seamlessly connects with the pine wood seat of the Kuru bench. The front edge of the armrest aligns with the seat edge, providing solid support when standing up. The Kuru product line has been designed in collaboration with furniture designers. The wooden benches in the series are also available without a backrest and armrests.

The armrests can be freely positioned on both versions. The Kuru wooden table follows the design language of the benches, featuring a pine surface and steel legs. The steel parts of the Kuru series are zinc-primed and then powder-coated. Kuru combines user-friendliness, elegant design, and durable materials.

The Kuru bench with a backrest meets accessibility requirements and is also available with a higher seat height as a senior bench.

Our designer bench has found its way not only into outdoor spaces but also as a unique detail inside homes, offices, or public spaces.

C5 Corrosion Class Powder Coating

Our painted products are finished with C5 corrosion class powder coating, which is the highest durability classification. The powder coating has been tested according to the ISO 12944:2018 standard. The paint surface withstands heavy wear in both indoor and outdoor environments. If you require extremely high corrosion resistance, order the products both zinc-primed and powder-coated.

Zinc Primer

Zinc primer combats corrosion and is a significantly more environmentally friendly option than traditional galvanizing. All our canopies are treated with zinc primer before powder coating.

Steel is an extremely durable material that can be recycled almost endlessly. Its recyclability and long lifespan make steel an environmentally friendly choice. In Lehtovuori’s Finbin products, we use not only standard steel but also durable galvannealed-coated steel and structural steel.

Wood

The majority of the wood used in our products comes from certified Finnish forests. Forest certification ensures that forests are managed responsibly and sustainably. Our primary wood material is pine.

Material maintenance and 100% recyclability

Caring for the surface materials of our products extends their lifespan and reduces environmental impact. When the product reaches the end of its life cycle, you can promote circularity by recycling all of its materials.

Warranty

Finbin products come with a 24-month material and parts warranty. Wood surfaces, locks, hinges, and gas springs have a 12-month warranty.

Ecological footprint

Steel is the primary raw material in our products because it is the most recycled material in the world. Steel can be recycled almost endlessly without altering its properties. We are continuously working to reduce our ecological footprint.

We know that beautiful design can influence people’s behavior. An attractive product encourages recycling. All of Lehtovuori’s Finbin products are manufactured in our own factory in Ylöjärvi, Finland. A high-quality and durable product also conserves natural resources.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

METAL SURFACES

Cleaning metal surfaces

With regular cleaning, metal surfaces are nearly everlasting. Powder-coated surfaces can be washed with water, while we recommend specialized cleaning sprays for stainless steel.

All surfaces exposed to sea or road salt should be cleaned regularly to prevent corrosion.

Stainless steel

Even stainless steel can accumulate surface rust, which does not damage the deeper layers. Cleaning should avoid tools or abrasives made of iron or carbon steel.

Stainless steel can be cleaned with a designated cleaner (pH above 8).

Powder-coated metal surfaces

Powder-coated metal surfaces are a durable solution, but they sometimes require repairs.

For touch-up painting of scratches that may occur during installation or use, we recommend an alkyd-based solvent paint, such as Teknos Teknolac Combi 50. Scratches should be touched up as soon as possible after they appear. Any surface rust should be sanded off, and if needed, the base should be treated with a zinc primer to protect against corrosion.

WOODEN SURFACES

Preparing wooden surfaces

Before treatment

The wooden surface to be oiled must be completely clean and dry. Remove dirt and any old, flaking oil by brushing, sanding, or using a scraper if needed.

Wash wooden surfaces with a designated cleaner and rinse thoroughly. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours.

Clean and dry wood absorbs oil well.

Treatment conditions

Proper treatment conditions ensure a durable finish. The space where wood is treated should have a temperature above +5°C and relative humidity below 80%. Avoid direct sunlight.

Ensure good ventilation and always treat wood in a space free from airborne dust and dirt.

Oiling the wood

Oil and Tools

Lehtovuori’s urban furniture wooden parts are treated with a water-based outdoor furniture oil. To achieve the best results, use a corresponding water-based oil.

Use only clean and dry brushes or sponges for oiling.

Oiling the Wood

Apply the oil in thin layers with a brush or sponge.

Systematically treat one surface at a time to achieve the most even finish and prevent uneven build-up.

You can repeat the treatment if necessary, provided the wood surface is sufficiently dry. Wipe off any excess, unabsorbed oil with a clean, dry cloth.

Wood surfaces should be allowed to dry for at least 24 hours in a sufficiently dry and warm environment.

PRODUCT RECYCLING

Recycling metal parts - turning steel into new steel

Metal parts, such as all steel components, are almost endlessly recyclable. Recycled steel is used to produce new steel, which promotes a circular economy and reduces carbon emissions.

You can recycle all metal parts as metal waste.

Recycling wooden parts - turning wood into energy

Treated wood (thermal treatment, paint, stain, lacquer) can be recycled as wood waste, which can be utilized for energy production either through burning or chipping.

The recycling method for wooden parts depends on the surface treatment of the wood. Please check the latest recycling guidelines at your local waste station!

Recycling concrete - a growing trend

The concrete from concrete bases and foundations can be recycled as raw material for concrete production.

Crushed concrete can be used, for example, in the production of new concrete or in earthworks.

We say no to single-use consumption.
