Born in Oxford, England to Indian parents, Iyer has travelled nearly constantly for more than 70% of his life. Yet one place had eluded his vast and comprehensive list of destinations: Antarctica. Traveling aboard Silver Cloud in January 2020, Mr. Iyer crossed the White Continent off his list, a destination that he will not soon cross off his memories.

HIDDEN BALI THROUGH 3 HUMBLE PLATES

By Christopher Dwyer On the profoundly spiritual island of Bali, one where visitors quickly learn that food plays a crucial symbolic role in daily life and ceremonies, a day called Nyepi is particularly special. Otherwise known as the ‘Day of Silence’ for the largely Hindu population, it demands 24 hours of silence and meditation – including no internet access – as well as fasting by all able-bodied adults.

Consequently, no food had passed the lips of millions of Balinese for an entire day, so by the time this visitor arrived and the fast had just been broken, the island’s glorious culinary kaleidoscope of flavours, colours, textures, aromas and ingredients were being appreciated even more enthusiastically than usual.

KING OF THE TIDES: THE SALTWATER CROCODILE OF AUSTRALIA’S HUNTER RIVER

By Leah McLennan A pair of beady eyes breaks the water’s surface, as the warm tropical air gently pushes waves against the green mangroves. It’s difficult to ignore the butterflies in my stomach when the Zodiac moves closer to these huge reptiles in the wild, which can grow up to 20 feet (6 meters) long. Slowly, the piercing eyes return to

the depths of the Hunter River in Australia’s remote Kimberley region, offering little clue as to where they’ll pop up next.

The Hunter River, or “Yirinni” as it is known to the Wunambal Gaambera people of Western Australia, is a 20 mile long (30 kilometers long) stretch of bottlegreen water that teems with ancient Aboriginal rock art sites and an abundance of wildlife. Accordingly, it’s one of the best places to see these saltwater crocodiles in action. “They are a feature of the Kimberley,” says Silversea Expedition Expert Malcolm Turner. “Nearly every guest on a Kimberley cruise sees one. The more you are out looking, the greater the chance of seeing them.”

Silver Privilege Fares Book early for the best fares and availability; Silver Privilege Fares are structured to reward guests who book early with the best possible fare and the privilege of being able to select their desired suite when the best inventory is available. Silver Sky Air Programme® The Silver Sky Air Programme extends Silversea’s premium level of service beyond your ocean voyage for the ultimate ease in travel. Silversea maintains relationships with most international carriers to ensure that the best airfares and schedules are available in order to make travelling to and from your cruise as convenient as possible. Silversea’s standard air package includes roundtrip Economy Class airfare and transfers between airport and pier on embarkation and disembarkation days. If a certain threshold level of COVID-19 is detected onboard your cruise ship during your voyage, your voyage will be ended immediately and the ship will return to the port of embarkation, and your subsequent travel, including your return home, may be restricted or delayed. For cruises and guests worldwide Health and safety protocols, guest conduct rules, and regional travel restrictions vary by ship and destination, and are subject to change without notice.

Early Booking Bonus Program: Offer valid on new bookings made between 14 December, 2020 to 31 March, 2021 on voyages (including cruise combinations) departing from 1 June, 2021.

Guests will receive up to 20% savings on the Silver Privilege fare for select voyages if full payment is received no later than 31 March, 2021; full payment includes the cruise fare and any outstanding balances on the booking (air, hotels, transfers and land programs). The Silversea Sail With Us Referral Promotion (“Referral Promotion”) is only available to Venetian Society members who refer Eligible Bookings in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. The Venetian Society Members will receive a referral savings amount of USD500/CAD600/AUD650/ EURO400/GBP350 per booking (suite), or USD1500/CAD1800/AUD2000/EURO1200/GBP1100 per booking (suite) for referring a full World Cruise or USD1000/CAD1200/AUD1300/EURO800/ GBP750 per booking (suite) for referring a full Grand Voyage, as applicable, (“Referral Savings”), to be applied to a booking of the Venetian Society members’ choice. The Venetian Society Member’s referred friends will also receive the same savings for their new referred booking. Friend referrals can be made by sharing the Venetian Society member number and full name with the friend, and

the friend shall present this information at the time of booking to a Travel Advisor or Silversea Cruise Consultant. Venetian Society members can also refer online by completing the online referral form available on My.Silversea.com. Venetian Society members can refer up to 5 friends. NEW REFERRED BOOKING (Referred by Venetian Society member) (“Eligible Bookings”) The referred booking must be from a guest who has not previously sailed with Silversea, and is a friend or family member of the Venetian Society member. Sharing the Venetian Society member number in public forums or social media or with people or travel advisors who are not friends to use, constitutes an improper use of the Referral Promotion. This may result in the revocation of referral savings. The Referral Promotion is valid from 1 February 2021 until 31 March 2021 (“Promotion Window”). To qualify for the Referral Promotion new bookings must be made within the Promotion Window and they must be referred within 21 days of the booking being created with a paid deposit, if not done at time of booking. The Referral Savings apply only to new individual full-fare bookings, and is combinable with other Silversea promotions, however, exclusions may apply. Existing bookings do not qualify. The Venetian Society member can use the Referral Savings towards a booking with a sail date that is concurrent to or after the referred friends’ sailings. Bookings that are already paid in full are not eligible to receive the Referral Savings. Travel Agents are not eligible to participate in this program, even if they are Venetian Society members. In the event of suspected fraud or action conducted in bad faith with the aim of manipulating the Referral Promotion, Silversea reserves the right to immediately void any claims, cancel bookings or terminate membership of the Venetian Society. Silversea reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify this promotion, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures, a change in applicable law or any other factor beyond Silversea’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of this Promotion, as determined by Silversea in its sole discretion.
