Eating healthy can seem daunting, especially for families on a tight budget. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated! With a little planning and creativity, anyone can make better food choices without breaking the bank. Moreover, what we eat has a significant impact on our mental health. Here are some simple and affordable strategies to help you and your family start eating healthier while supporting your mental well-being.
1. Plan Your Meals
Start by planning your meals for the week. Write down what you want to eat and make a shopping list with only the ingredients you need. This helps you avoid buying unnecessary items and reduces food waste. According to a study by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), meal planning can save you up to 20% on your grocery bills (USDA, 2020). Research also indicates that individuals who prepare meals at home are more likely to consume healthier foods, positively affecting mood and mental health (Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, 2019).

When you buy fruits and vegetables that are in season, you’ll often find better prices. Seasonal produce is fresher and tastier, making it a great choice for your meals. Local farmers' markets and community-supported agriculture (CSA) programs often offer fresh produce at lower prices. Eating a variety of fruits and vegetables can lower the risk of health problems, including depression, by up to 30% (Produce for Better Health Foundation, 2022). Foods rich in antioxidants, such as berries, are particularly beneficial for brain health.
Focus on whole foods like grains, beans, and legumes, which are both healthy and cost-effective. Foods such as brown rice, lentils, and beans are packed with protein and fiber, helping you feel full longer. Incorporating these into your meals can stretch your budget and improve your diet. Whole foods have been shown to positively influence mood cognitive function by providing essential nutrients (Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, 2021). For example, omega-3 fatty acids found in walnuts and flaxseeds are linked to lower rates of depression and anxiety.
4.Cook at Home

Cooking at home is one of the best ways to save money and eat healthy. Restaurant meals and takeout can add up quickly, while home-cooked meals let you control what goes into your food. Families who cook at home can save 30-60% on food costs compared to dining out (USDA Economic Research Service, 2021). Home-cooked meals allow for the incorporation of nutrient-dense foods that can enhance mental well-being, such as leafy greens and lean proteins.
5. Use Free Resources
Take advantage of free resources in your community. Many food banks, community gardens, and nutrition programs offer fresh produce, cooking classes, and helpful information. Organizations like No Kid Hungry work to ensure families have access to healthy foods, so be sure to check out what’s available in your area (Feeding America, 2022). Participating in community gardening not only provides fresh produce but also fosters social connections that are beneficial for mental health.
6. Get Creative with Leftovers
Don’t let leftovers go to waste! Use last night’s dinner to create a new meal. For example, you can turn leftover roasted vegetables into a delicious soup or stir-fry. Reducing food waste can save families up to $1,500 a year (ReFED, 2021). Eating a varied diet that includes leftovers can also introduce different nutrients that support brain health, such as B vitamins and magnesium.
Conclusion
Eating healthy on a budget is not only possible, but it can also be fun and fulfilling. By planning meals, shopping smart, cooking at home, and using community resources, you can make healthier choices for you and your family. The foods you choose can significantly affect your mental health, so prioritize nutrient-dense options to support your emotional well-being.

Throughout history, the struggle for freedom and equality has been marked by the sacrifices and relentless efforts of countless Black individuals who have paved the way for future generations. One of the most remarkable figures in this journey is Harriet Tubman, an icon of bravery and resilience. Born into the horrors of slavery, Harriet escaped to freedom but chose to return repeatedly to rescue others. Her dedication to the Underground Railroad exemplifies the unwavering spirit of those who fought against oppression, demonstrating that the quest for liberation is not merely a personal journey but a collective responsibility.

Harriet Tubman is not alone in this fight. She is part of a rich tapestry of leaders who have shaped the civil rights movement, including Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, and many others. Each of these individuals faced tremendous adversity, risking their lives to challenge the systemic racism embedded in American society. Their collective efforts culminated in monumental changes, paving the way for the rights and freedoms we enjoy today, yet there remains a stark reality that we must confront.
Black children attend underfunded schools that do not provide the quality education they deserve. Moreover, the criminal justice system disproportionately targets Black individuals, leading to higher rates of incarceration and violence against our communities.
These issues are not just statistics; they affect our families, our neighborhoods, and our futures. It is imperative that we recognize these challenges and confront them head-on. We must ask ourselves: Are we doing enough? Are we honoring the sacrifices of our ancestors by remaining passive in the face of ongoing struggles? The answer is a resounding no.
The undeniable truth is that the fight for equality is ongoing, and it demands our active participation. We cannot allow the sacrifices of those who came before us to slip into the shadows of history.
The battles fought by Tubman, King, Malcolm X, and others were not just for their time; they were for the future of all Black Americans. It’s easy to celebrate their achievements, but we must also acknowledge the harsh realities that persist today. The state of America presents a complex landscape for Black individuals. While we have made undeniable progress, we are still confronted with the remnants of systemic racism that pervade our institutions. Economic disparities continue to widen, with Black Americans disproportionately affected by poverty and unemployment. Educational inequalities persist, as many
This is a call to action, urging every Black American to engage actively in the fight for equality. We must advocate for our rights, educate ourselves and others about our history, and support initiatives that uplift our communities. It’s time to rise up and embrace our power. Each of us has a role to play in this ongoing movement. Whether it’s through grassroots activism, community organizing, or simply engaging in conversations about race and justice, we must all contribute to the cause.
Moreover, it’s essential to reflect on how we honor the legacies of civil rights leaders. We must resist the temptation to become complacent or to take for granted the freedoms that were hard-won. Instead, we should embrace our heritage and use it as a catalyst for change. The sacrifices made by those who fought for our rights should inspire us to take action today. We are the continuation of their legacy, and it is our duty to carry the torch forward
As we look around us, we see the effects of apathy and division within our communities. We see individuals who have become disillusioned, feeling that the fight is no longer worth it. We must reject this mindset.
We cannot afford to become complacent or allow ourselves to be divided by petty differences. Unity is our strength. Let’s come together, regardless of our backgrounds, ideologies, or experiences, to build a stronger, more resilient community.
Education is a powerful tool in this battle. We must educate ourselves on the rich history of our people, learning not only about the struggles we faced but also about the incredible achievements that have shaped our identity. Knowledge empowers us and provides the foundation for meaningful change. Let’s invest in our youth, ensuring they understand their history and the importance of continuing the fight for justice.
In conclusion, the journey toward true equality is far from over. Let us honor the sacrifices of our ancestors by continuing the fight for justice and equality. Together, we can build a future that reflects the dreams and aspirations of those who came before us. The state of America demands our attention and action; we cannot sit idly by as injustices persist.
Let this be our rallying cry: Stand up, speak out, and take action. The time is now, and together, we will rise to meet the challenges ahead. We owe it to Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and all those who fought for our rights. The future is in our hands, and it’s time to seize it.

I didn’t grow up in one place—I grew up in many. My roots stretch from a tiny town in Arkansas called Loanne, where there are no stores, no gas stations, just land, dirt roads, and animals—to army bases in California where cultures mixed and worlds collided. I’ve lived in Texas, Louisiana, and California, but Loanne was where I first learned both humility and danger. I was no older than six or seven, riding bikes with my brother, when a white man came out with a shotgun, calling us the N-word and threatening us for riding on a public road. That was the day I learned how deep racism runs. But it was also the place where spirit first called me.
We moved a lot, but the spiritual thread in my life never broke. I was raised in a COGIC church— Church of God in Christ—where I saw things that couldn’t be explained. I watched spirits move, I saw possession with my own eyes. In 1999, during a Passover service in Brinkley, Arkansas, a woman was overtaken by something unholy and began to speak in multiple voices. That night stayed with me. And while I was being taught the Bible, I was also watching my mother use a Ouija board. I was watching spirits and learning prayers at the same time.
My mother kept books around us constantly. She’s the one who gave me my first book on the Law of
Attraction. She’s the reason I never locked myself into just one belief system. I was exposed to witchcraft, Christianity, universal law, and esoteric thought all before I really understood the world—and because of that, I carry the belief that all traditions hold some truth, but no single one owns it. I walk my path by honoring the truth in all things, not just one.
One of my earliest inspirations was Harry Potter. I know how that sounds, but those books unlocked something in me. I read the first four in two weeks. I was fascinated by a world where words had power, where belief shaped reality. Pair that curiosity with the spiritual activity I saw in church, and I knew I had to understand why this was all real. Why does magic work? Why do prayers manifest? Why do some people attract healing and others attract harm? I’ve spent my life chasing those questions—and now, I teach what I’ve learned.

Entrepreneurship has always been a part of me. I’ve sold everything from Herbalife to vacation packages, and at one point, I owned an Afrocentric store. Now, I run Medusa by Kye. But this journey wasn’t glamorous. I was once homeless with my children, living out of our car, parked at a city park. I remember sitting there thinking, This can’t be my life. This won’t be my life. I had worked corporate jobs, including managing a Dollar General, and the stress got so bad people thought I was on drugs from how thin I became.
Watching my father work through physical pain just to keep his health insurance, I realized—I refuse to live and die under someone else’s clock.
So I took my pain and turned it into power. I became an herbalist. A metaphysical teacher. A spiritualist. I took everything I had learned —through books, spirit, hardship, and ceremony—and built something that could help people heal, really heal.
I’ve struggled with my own mental health. I’ve battled suicidal thoughts. I’ve had anger that almost destroyed me. But I used my own medicine to heal. I use spiritual baths, grounding rituals, candle work, and a formula I created myself: Intention + Ashe + Activation = Work. I fast from people when needed. I journal. I cry. I talk to my higher self. I honor the process of tending to my mind like a garden—because healing doesn’t happen by accident. You have to do the work. I honor the process of tending to my mind like a garden—because healing doesn’t happen by accident. You have to do the work.

When it comes to support systems, I won’t lie—I’ve been my biggest one. What I do isn’t easy to talk about. It doesn’t fit in regular conversations. Yes, I have elders I can call on here and there, but for the most part, I’ve carried myself. And that’s not bitterness— it’s reality. That’s why I became a recluse for a while. But I’ve been working on that, fighting my social anxiety and showing up in public spaces more often. And you know what I’ve learned? Not everyone is the same. Once you find your tribe, your people, the whole world feels different. It’s healing in itself.
I also had to learn how to stop overgiving. For years, I sacrificed myself for the sake of my work. I gave and gave until I was mentally, physically, and spiritually drained. I had to draw the line—say no when it wasn’t alignment, stick to my schedule, protect my rest days. Because yes, we all have a purpose down here, but your purpose should never stop you from living the human experience. That’s something I remind myself every day.
Don’t forget to live.
To anyone out there struggling while chasing their dreams—especially if your mind is in a dark place—please hear me: learn discernment. Not just in who you allow around you, but in how you respond to your own thoughts. Be kind to yourself. Know that your journey is sacred. Don’t compare your life to anyone else’s—because even the people who look like they’re doing well might be battling the same demons. They just have money.
You are here for a reason. You are not broken. And no one’s human experience is more divine than yours.
That’s the heart of my work—helping people remember who they are. I’ve helped the community in so many ways: from retreats for formerly incarcerated Black mothers, to creative writing workshops for children, to simply making sure someone has gas in their car or food in their fridge. I get messages every day from people telling me I helped save their life. That I stopped them from committing suicide. That I helped them reconnect with their purpose. And every single time, I’m humbled. I don’t think I’m doing that much—but then someone tells me I changed everything for them.

That’s why I do this. Not for attention. Not for clout. For the quiet work. For the unseen healing. For the lives that shift without ever having to be loud about it.
Because that’s where the real magic lives.
At the end of the day, I am a woman who turned survival into sacred work. My journey hasn’t been easy, clean, or conventional—but it's
been honest. Every wound became a doorway, every breakdown a message, and every quiet act of resilience a spell in itself. I’ve built a life rooted in spirit, truth, and service. And while I may walk a path that many don’t understand, I know exactly why I’m here; to help others remember their own power, to teach what I’ve lived, and to hold space for healing in a world that often forgets how. This is more than a business, more than a brand—this is my offering. And I give it with a full heart.
I’m truly thankful for the opportunity to share my story and be a part of this magazine. It means a lot to be seen not just for what I do, but for who I am. I can’t wait to continue this journey with you and bring forth the teachings, knowledge, and spiritual education that have carried me this far. There’s so much more to come—and I’m honored to walk this path with you.
Let’s walk in truth.

In the heart of Bowling Green, Missouri, a small town with its share of hidden challenges, a voice emerged that would resonate far beyond its borders. TrippyVission TK, a talented musician with a passion for storytelling, has transformed his struggles into an anthem of hope and resilience. His journey, marked by hardship and determination, is a testament to the power of using one's voice for good.
Growing up in a series of small towns, TrippyVission TK witnessed the underbelly of small-town life, where corruption often overshadowed talent. “Having the right last name could get you places,” he reflects, “and I was never blessed with a good name.” This realization fueled his desire to carve out a unique path, one where he could rise above the limitations imposed by his environment.
Life was not easy for TK; he describes his early years as a constant struggle. “I thought that’s what life was for a while,” he admits. “It’s just a constant struggle; it matters if you’re up or down on that struggle.” Refusing to give up, he chose to fight against the odds, a decision that would ultimately lead to pivotal moments in his life.
After several run-ins with the law and time spent on probation, TrippyVission TK made a profound decision: to redirect his energy towards positive change. “I decided to put my time and efforts towards good,” he shares. This turning point ignited a passion for music that would become his sanctuary—a way to express frustrations, celebrate accomplishments, and connect with others facing similar battles.
Music is more than just a career for TK; it’s his well-being. He pours his soul into his art, aiming to inspire others who may feel lost in their struggles. “I share my experiences in hopes it helps them get through some of the same situations I do,” he explains. This desire to uplift others is a driving force behind his work.

One of the key figures in TK’s journey is his longtime friend and mentor, Chris Miller. “He’s pushed me through a lot of rough situations,” TK reveals. “Chris influenced me to chase a path in music, and the rest has become history.” With a strong support system, he has been able to navigate the challenges of balancing a full-time job, family life, and his musical aspirations.
As a dedicated partner and father of three, TK knows the importance of maintaining a work-life balance. “It’s an up-and-down rollercoaster,” he admits, “but we make it work.” This commitment to family fuels his drive to succeed, not just for himself, but for his loved ones. TrippyVission TK’s advice for aspiring artists is both simple and profound: “Take what people say, funnel out what doesn’t apply, and filter in what does.” He emphasizes the importance of giving advice time to marinate before applying it to one’s craft. “At the end of the day, you have to love and believe in your craft; after all, it’s supposed to represent you.”

Though he has yet to make a direct impact on his community, TK has big dreams for the future. He aims to tackle pressing issues such as homelessness, drug abuse, and mental health.

“People could use more lending hands and listening ears than judging hearts,” he says, underscoring his commitment to making a difference.
TrippyVission TK’s journey is a powerful reminder that resilience, passion, and a little bit of support can lead to incredible transformations. As he continues to share his story through music, he is poised to inspire countless others to rise above their struggles and find their own voices. In the pages of LENGDARY Magazine, we celebrate not just a musician, but a beacon of hope for many.

“I decided to put my time and efforts towards good,” he shares. This turning point ignited a passion for music that would become his sanctuary—a way to express frustrations, celebrate accomplishments, and connect with others facing similar battles.

In a world that often feels divided and disconnected, one family in Buffalo, New York is shattering the mold and redefining what it means to build community. The Zelasco clan has transformed a simple street corner into a vibrant hub of generosity, compassion, and unwavering commitment to lifting up their neighbors.
As I stepped onto the corner of Genessee and Moselle, I was immediately struck by the palpable energy radiating from the scene unfolding before me. Tents and tables overflowed with an extraordinary array of donated goods - clothing, shoes, household items, toys, and more. This was no ordinary yard sale, but rather a testament to the Zelasco family's relentless efforts to ensure no one in their community is left behind.
"This is what it's all about," Jonathan Zelasco Sr., the family patriarch, told me, his eyes shining with a quiet determination. "Giving back to our community and making sure everyone has access to the things they need."
For decades, the Zelascos have been the beating heart of this neighborhood, leveraging their resources, connections, and sheer tenacity to create a safety net for those struggling. What sets them apart is not just their willingness to give, but their deeply-rooted understanding that true community thrives when we all contribute.
"If you need us to help go through your attic or your basement, we'll do that for free," Jonathan explained, gesturing to the meticulously organized piles surrounding us.
"Anything you want to give, we'll take. And then we'll make sure it gets to the people who can use it most."
As I watched community members carefully browse through the selection, some leaving with bags full of essentials, I couldn't help but be struck by the profound impact of the Zelasco family's efforts. This was not just a charitable endeavor, but a deliberate investment in the very fabric of their neighborhood.

As I spoke with other members of the Zelasco clan, from the patriarch Jonathan Sr. to the younger generation, I was struck by the palpable sense of pride and purpose that radiated from each of them. This was a family united in their mission, determined to leave an indelible mark on the lives they touch.
Jonathan Zelasco Jr., Jonathan Sr.'s son, eloquently captured the essence of their mission. "If you start a business, if you're building a business, if the community is supporting you and you're taking care of your family with the money you get out of the community, if you're not doing this part where you're giving back, your money's going to run out, your love's going to run out, you're not going to prosper."
"This is what it is - 4 years strong on this corner," Jonathan Sr. said, his voice brimming with both humility and conviction. "The whole new generation is coming up, giving back on this corner."
But the Zelascos' impact extends far beyond the physical boundaries of this street corner. In addition to their free giveaways, the family also runs a year-round basketball program for local youth, further demonstrating their commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders and change-makers.

As I prepared to leave, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of hope.
In a world that often prioritizes individual gain over collective well-being, the Zelascos have chosen a different path - one that recognizes the inextricable link between personal success and community investment. By reinvesting in their neighborhood, they are not only helping those in need, but also strengthening the bonds that hold their community together.
In a world that often feels fractured and uncertain, the Zelasco family has proven that true transformation begins with the simple act of giving back. They have not only uplifted their own community, but have also set an inspiring example for communities everywhere.
This is a story that deserves to be told, a testament to the power of compassion, generosity, and the unbreakable spirit of a family dedicated to making a difference. The Zelascos are not merely a beacon of hope on the corner of Jenessee and Moselle - they are the very cornerstones of their community, shining examples of what's possible when we choose to invest in one another, and in the collective well-being of our shared humanity.

I arrived at the Gr8ness Flag Football Tournament, and the scene was electric. Teams from all across Western New York had converged on the fields, creating a vibrant tapestry of energy and excitement. Uniformed girls of all ages darted back and forth, their laughter and cheers echoing through the crisp autumn air.
On the sidelines, coaches paced back and forth, barking out instructions and encouragement. Parents sat in the bleachers, eyes shining with pride as they watched their daughters compete. It was more than just a tournament - it was a celebration of community, of young athletes reaching for their dreams.
"This is the third year we've been doing this tournament, and it just keeps getting bigger and better," shared Jasmine, one of the Gr8ness program organizers. "We've got teams coming in from Buffalo, Rochester, even as far as Syracuse. These girls are bringing their A-game, and the competition is fierce."
Indeed, the level of play on the field was impressive. The seasoned 13U veterans executed intricate plays with precision, while the younger "babies" fearlessly threw themselves into the fray, determined to improve with every down. Coaches like AD barked out encouragement, their watchful eyes ensuring each player reached their full potential.

"We got girls ranging from 9 all the way up to 14 out here today," AD explained. "They're learning the fundamentals of the game, but more importantly, they're learning about discipline, teamwork, and what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves."

This holistic approach is at the heart of the Gr8ness program. Beyond just honing athletic skills, the coaches and organizers are dedicated to nurturing the mental, emotional, and social development of these young athletes. It's an investment in the future, not just of these girls, but of the entire community.
"It's more than just football," Jasmine emphasized. "It's about building confidence, teaching life skills, and showing these girls that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to."

For fathers like Conrad, whose own past mistakes had separated him from his children, the Gr8ness program represents a chance at redemption. "When I came home, I said, 'You feel me? One of my kids is doing something. I'mma put my all into it,'" he shared. "Watching my daughter Jada out here, it made me feel great as a man. It's like, 'Alright, my dad's here to watch me do what I want to do.'"
The ripple effects of the Gr8ness program extend far beyond the tournament field. As Coach AD explained, "It's teaching these kids how to grow as people. It's teaching them about discipline, teamwork, guidance. And it's teaching parents and adults how to live better lives."
By investing in the youth, the Gr8ness community is building a foundation for lasting change. "All we got to do is everything that we take out, we get back. We can do this," one organizer eloquently stated.

These are the kinds of Legendary stories that deserve to be told - tales of ordinary people coming together to create extraordinary change in their community. With role models like the Gr8ness coaches and parents, the future looks bright for these young athletes and the city of Buffalo as a whole.

PIT BULLS HAVE LONG BEEN ONE OF THE MOST STIGMATIZED DOG BREEDS IN AMERICA. OFTEN PORTRAYED AS AGGRESSIVE AND DANGEROUS, THESE DOGS FACE A BARRAGE OF NEGATIVE STEREOTYPES THAT HAS LED TO BREED-SPECIFIC LEGISLATION AND WIDESPREAD FEAR. HOWEVER, THIS NARRATIVE IS NOT ONLY MISLEADING BUT ALSO REFLECTS BROADER ISSUES OF PREJUDICE AND DISCRIMINATION THAT RESONATE WITH THE EXPERIENCES OF BLACK COMMUNITIES.

A CLOSER LOOK AT PIT BULLS
Just as pit bulls are often unfairly generalized as violent and dangerous, Black men are frequently subjected to stereotypes that paint them as criminals or threats to society."

PIT BULLS, A TERM THAT ENCOMPASSES SEVERAL BREEDS, INCLUDING THE AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER, AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER, AND STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER, ARE KNOWN FOR THEIR LOYALTY, INTELLIGENCE, AND AFFECTIONATE NATURE. ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN TEMPERAMENT TEST SOCIETY, PIT BULLS HAVE A PASSING RATE OF ABOUT 87.4% IN TEMPERAMENT TESTS, WHICH IS COMPARABLE TO OR EVEN BETTER THAN MANY OTHER POPULAR BREEDS. DESPITE THIS, THEY ARE OFTEN LABELED AS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS.
The parallels between the treatment of pit bulls and the perceptions of Black men in society are stark. Just as pit bulls are often unfairly generalized as violent and dangerous, Black men are frequently subjected to stereotypes that paint them as criminals or threats to society. This narrative is perpetuated by media portrayals and systemic biases, leading to discrimination and social stigmatization.
Statistics from the FBI indicate that while Black individuals are disproportionately represented in crime statistics, this does not reflect the reality of the vast majority of Black people, who are law-abiding citizens. In fact, studies show that crime rates are influenced by socio-economic factors and systemic inequalities rather than race itself. Similarly, the aggressive behavior attributed to pit bulls is more often a reflection of their upbringing and environment rather than an inherent trait.
the Gap
Understanding the truth about pit bulls and the realities of Black communities

requires a shift in perspective. Just as many pit bulls are loving companions who thrive in nurturing environments, the majority of Black men are hardworking, caring individuals who contribute positively to society. Acknowledging the individuality of both pit bulls and people is crucial in dismantling harmful stereotypes.
Education and advocacy play vital roles in changing perceptions. Organizations dedicated to pit bull rescue and rehabilitation work tirelessly to showcase the breed's friendly nature. Similarly, community programs aimed at empowering Black individuals and highlighting their achievements help counteract negative stereotypes.
The narratives surrounding pit bulls and Black men are deeply intertwined in the fabric of societal prejudice. By challenging these stereotypes and recognizing the inherent value and potential of both, we can foster a more inclusive and understanding society. Just as a well-trained pit bull can be a loyal friend, so too can every individual, regardless of race, contribute positively to our communities. Embracing this understanding is essential for creating a world where both pit bulls and Black men can thrive without the weight

"SHOOTING FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE: THE EMPOWERING

In a world where the streets often claim the dreams of young men, Tim Carter's story stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and the transformative nature of passion. This Legendary Magazine exclusive delves into the inspiring journey of a man who found salvation in the most unexpected of places - a discarded camera on Facebook Marketplace.
Tim's early life was marred by the harsh realities of growing up in a rough neighborhood in Jacksonville, Arkansas. "It was really kill or be killed. I got in trouble early, but all I knew was the streets at the time," he candidly recalls. However, the birth of his twins in 2017 proved to be a pivotal moment, as the devastating loss of their mother to suicide that same year shook Tim to his core.

"THAT SLOWED ME DOWN COMPLETELY. I WAS READY TO GIVE UP ON THE WORLD REALLY," TIM ADMITS.

"That slowed me down completely. I was ready to give up on the world. Really," Tim admits. But it was his fiancée who helped him find his footing, filling the "empty place" he had been missing. "She kind of got me on track. Got me back on course," he says, his voice thick with gratitude.
It was then that Tim stumbled upon the camera that would forever change the trajectory of his life. "I picked up that camera and my world changed, man," he exclaims. With no prior photography experience, Tim dove headfirst into the craft, teaching himself through trial and error and drawing inspiration from the work of renowned photographers.
"I was seeing you playing with different lightings and different colors and shades on these pictures. I'm like I got to figure this out," Tim shares. His dedication and natural eye for capturing compelling moments soon paid dividends, as he began booking clients and growing his social media following.
But Tim's transformation extends far beyond his personal success. His driving force lies in providing a better future for his children, especially his young son, whom he affectionately calls his "right-hand man." "I realized how much I mean to my kids. And then I had my son, my junior, that's my my right-hand man. He stay connected to my hip. So, I wanted more for myself than the streets, man."
This unwavering love for his family is the foundation upon which Tim has built his multifaceted empire. In addition to his thriving photography and videography business, he has launched a youth program aimed at mentoring troubled youth in his community, determined to show them that there is "more than just the streets."
Tim's story is a powerful reminder that no matter how dark the past may be, the future holds the promise of redemption. Through his relentless pursuit of excellence and his deep-rooted desire to create a better life for his loved ones,
Tim has emerged as a shining example of what can be achieved when passion and purpose collide.
As Tim continues to expand his ventures, including a starring role in an 8-part short film series, his message resonates with aspiring entrepreneurs and creatives alike. When you meet Ray Bandz, one thing is clear - this woman is destined for greatness. Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Ray has already carved out an impressive path for herself as a rapper, football player, and community advocate. But her journey has been anything but easy.
"Buffalo first offered me family," Ray explains. Growing up in a tight-knit Black neighborhood, the connections she made as a child became the foundation for her success. "That's really the first thing Buffalo offered - family. And it just started from there."
That family support, especially from her mother, was crucial in shaping Ray into the multitalented powerhouse she is today. "My mother, you know, her - she went through the experiences for me and my little brother. So, her going through traumatizing stuff made her raise her kids in a different light, in a different setting. We didn't have to go through as much as she went through and stuff like that. So, I'm definitely grateful for that."
Ray's childhood was "amazing, very safe. I was well guarded, and protected from a lot that, you know, I probably wish I would have knew sooner, but...it definitely makes or breaks." This break from generational trauma allowed Ray to fully embrace her natural talents, which first manifested through a passion for music.
"In fifth grade, I just randomly started scrolling on YouTube listening to beats," she recalls. "I remember just writing lyrics down on a piece of paper, stuffing them in the desk. My teacher used to find them - they used to be brought out at parent-teacher conferences and all type of stuff."

RDespite the embarrassment, Ray couldn't deny her gift. "After that, I didn't want to stop. Like, music just been drilled in ever since." She began making songs for her friends, who quickly became fans. "That was in eighth grade. So I just kept going. A talent turned into a business, into something that you can use to grow."

"I really thought it was over until the next season, for real...we had to keep going"

Through it all, Ray has had to navigate the mental health challenges that come with being a young, Black female creative. "Every day, I go through stuff behind the scenes on my social medias. Y'all don't see, I just post, post, post to get the attention. But behind the scenes, obviously, I got to deal with the mental part of it, the stress."
Just as her music career was taking off, Ray faced another challenge - the collapse of her beloved football team, the Buffalo Yetis. But instead of giving up, Ray and her teammates banded together to form a new squad, the Buffalo 716 Blizzards, just a month before the season started.
"I really thought it was over until the next season, for real," Ray says. "And then y'all made that happen. We had to, because we was all so excited for it. It was messed up, but we had to keep going"
Against all odds, the Buffalo 716 Blizzards, took the field, "To come together as women, and try to be a team was amazing. And then to go through what y'all guys went through and then in a short time still be able to make that first game...you guys won. You guys went down in history."

But Ray refuses to be deterred. "The only thing that keeps me going is, damn, 5 years from now, I'm going to be looking back like, damn, you still kept going. And your mental was messed up behind it. I'm going through stuff, personal issues, too. Not even just with content and stuff?"
Her advice to other aspiring young entrepreneurs is simple: "If you have a hobby or you have a skill, I encourage you 100% to invest into your hobby or skill...Just do it. Just try it, first, do it, and put your all into it"
In the next 5-10 years, Ray sees herself not only continuing to make waves in music and football, but also giving back to the community that raised her. "I need to come back here and I definitely need to reestablish the youth sports, because you know me being in all three different fields...you find out that damn, it's not a lot of I'm getting a lot of recognition and I'm getting a lot of support.."
Whether she's dropping a hot new single, dominating on the field, or uplifting the next generation, one thing is certain - Ray Bandz is a force to be reckoned with. Buffalo's best kept secret is about to take the world by storm, thanks in large part to the unwavering support and guidance of her mother.
