A Message from your Board members The members of your board have maintained monthly Board meetings and additional meetings and activities to best serve you, our membership.

After the last General Meeting in Brussels the German Authority rejected the election of the new board due to mistakes in the voting process. We have agreed to a change of the Articles of Association to avoid this mistake in future elections.

As a working solution the Board agreed to create a management committee of all those elected by you to run LEGATO, that we call the board.

We got to work immediately and agreed on the key roles. In July 2019 we had a board retreat weekend in Dublin to agree on our key objectives and develop a strategic action plan.

We work together in smaller teams focussing on Members services, Various Voices, Communications, Governance and Finance.

We have outlined the headlines of this work, some complete, some in progress and some to be achieved. It is a dynamic working document of actions.

We want to engage and be transparent to hear what you think, how you can help and support us to lead our organisation to be bigger, better and more effective.

The future for LEGATO The Board is focused on improving the service we offer to our members and improving our profile on the European choral and arts stage. To develop effective partnerships to work for equality for all and support LGBTQ+ people across our worlds by advocacy and action though our music and song. To be a beacon of best practice and diversity linking with other choral organizations across the world and supporting as best we can developing areas with new choirs and working with you, our members and others.

We cannot do this alone, if you think you can help us or want to be a part of the solution for a fairer more equal world for all, please get in touch today. We are keen to draw the widest possible group of people to be part of the solution for change. We want to seek funding and to support our work and objectives in all parts of Europe and beyond.

Auditor Report Bericht des Kassenprüfers zur Legato-Mitgliederversammlung am 10.10.2020 Als Kassenprüfer habe ich die Kassenunterlagen eingesehen. Die Vermögensaufstellung mit einem Bestand von 48.022,05 EUR gibt nach den Unterlagen die Finanzsituation des Vereins zum 31.12.2019 korrekt wieder.

Die Belege für die wenigen Ausgaben des Geschäftsjahres 2019 wurden vorgelegt und sind in Höhe und Zweck plausibel. Besonders erfreulich ist, dass mit nur einer Ausnahme alle Mitgliedschöre die Beiträge bis einschließlich 2019 vollständig bezahlt haben und die Außenstände bei Mitgliedsbeiträgen sich gegenüber dem Vorjahr noch einmal reduziert haben.

Nach meiner Überzeugung wird die Kasse vom Kassenwart Dominik Jacob sehr zuverlässig geführt. Ich empfehle als Kassenprüfer die Entlastung des Vorstands für das Geschäftsjahr 2019.

Statement of the auditor for the Legato General Membership Meeting on October 10th 2020 As auditor I have checked the documents of the Legato accounts.

The documents show Legato`s correct status of the actual financial situation with a total balance of 48.022,05 EUR on December, 31st 2019. The very few expenses for the year 2019 could be found in the documents and are plausible in the amount and use.

Very positive is that with one exception all member choruses have paid the membership fees up to the year 2019 and the outstanding fees have been once more reduced compared to the previous year.

I am convinced that the accounts of Legato are reliable managed by the treasurer Dominik Jacob. I recommend the discharge of the board for the year 2019.

“Various Voices” The European LGBTQ+ Choir Festival, is the main event for LGBTQ+ choirs in Europe and the reason for the birth of LEGATO: It was built as a patron to support and strengthen the idea of the Festival.

We manage and support the bidding process for choirs to bring this brilliant Festival to their cities.

We provide start-up money for each #VVFestival, information, and support to anyone who wants to run the festival.

Every four years it’s held in another European city and is organized from the local choirs. ​LEGATO or GALA membership is obligatory to join the festival as a participating choir.

The quad-annual 15th Various Voices Festival of LEGATO, the European Association of LGBTQ+ Choirs will be hosted in Bologna and moved from 2022 to the summer of 2023. Team Bologna is led by Komos, the LGBT Chorus of Bologna, with their partners and funders including the municipality of Bologna, along with allies and friends in Italy. The 5,000 expected participants will bring at least €2.5 million estimated income into the local economy of Emilia-Romagna, Italy during the festival.

The festival is a celebration for the LGBTQ+ choirs and musicians of Europe celebrating with their friends from around the worldwide community of singers, to share, learn and enjoy the time, singing, performing, engaging in the beautiful ancient “la rossa” red city of Bologna and the people of the region of Emilia-Romagna, the home of parma ham, balsamic vinegar, and parmesan. Five glorious warm summer days and balmy evenings of superb singing, entertainment, and a “totally fun experience”. Choirs and musical groups perform in a range of languages, styles, an eclectic crucible of European musicians and music.

Nicola Mainardi, Bologna Various Voices Festival Director, said “we will be using this time to add that extra bit of Bologna sparkle, seeking even greater local support and working with our partners to rebook venues and agree on new dates in 2023. This has been a complex decision in response to the global pandemic and we need to give all time to heal and recover, to enjoy our festival safely. As details are confirmed we will share them with all our stakeholders. We will create the best Various Voices experience ever, for everyone”.
