That's witchin'!

If you're looking for spooky style inspiration, look no further than the 1996 masterpiece The Craft. Not only can these witchy girlies hex, but they can dress as well. No matter which girl catches your attention, you simply cannot go wrong.

The Classics

Classic is classic for a reason. When you don't know what to do take a page from the spell book of icons. It's the original goth legendsMorticia Addams, Vampira, Lily Munster and Elvira.

Dreams of leather

You can never go wrong with some leather.

Whether you're on your way to prowl the city looking for two-legged blood bags, kill some vampires, seek revenge or just break the Matrix, there's no reason to not look good in some latex pants or a leather trench coat.

Lessons in cruelty

Maybe you're not in the mood to look like a witch or a vampire or a raver, maybe teen tyrant is more up your alley. Well, no one is doing it quite like our favourite, the coldest of them all, Kathryn Merteuil of the 1999 film Cruel Intentions.

BLOODLUST of the vampire myth

Bela Lugosi's dead? Not in our hearts.

The Count has been serving some serious on-screen cunt for decades. From Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, William Marshall, Frank Langella to the latest Dracula iteration, Gary Oldman, we just can't seem to get enough of this bloodsucker.

70s vampires - fang on!

Hammer Horror not only gave us tall and commanding Christopher Lee as Dracula, but also lesbian vampires. One such example is the 1970 film The Vampire Lovers based on 1872 Sheridan Le Fanu's novella Carmilla. It is actually part of the so called Karnstein Trilogy, other two films being Lust for a Vampire and Twins of Evil. Precisely because of their relatively explicit lesbian themes, these films were considered quite daring for the time.

Dracula emerges from the shadows, commanding and demanding, sending chills up and down our spines. Suddenly you think how you wouldn't mind the feeling of fangs sinking into your neck and realize that you indeed are a freak. Your mother would be outraged.

Every moment Dracula is on screen is simply enthralling; his powerful domineering stance commands attention when he strides into a room, a flash of tantalizing cursed lunacy that glimmers out from behind the eye that captivates and keeps its audience under his thrall. His quietness and intensity lures you and you lost the game. A horror icon turned sex symbol. Dracula never forces you to come inside. He opens the door and invites you in.

The 1977 film Martin must be one of the great undervalued terrors of the 1970's. It's an urban gothic tale, a lonely and upsetting character study, a film about decay. It might be the most depressing vampire film ever. Martin is a creep, just like all vampires are, but he's unlike most vampires we've seen. He's creepy, weird and adorable all at the same time. You're left wondering if Martin is a vampire at all...

Evasive, passionate and beautiful, Ganja & Hess, released in 1973, is a fascinating and unique take on vampirism. This experimental horror film shows us that vampires indeed are the most human of all ghouls. They drink blood, not out of cruelty, but because it's what they need for survival. They couldn't stop even if they wanted to. Watching Ganja & Hess is like entering someone's masterful fever dream.

80s vampires - in the mood for blood

90s vampires - leather jacket paradise

1980s found us lusting after and envying The Lost Boys. We're sure one can be psychoanalyzed based on the lost boy they found themselves in love with. (Paul, I know you wouldn't treat me right, but please call me.) The Lost Boys is ultimately a movie about nothing, but it sure makes you yearn to be someone's 80s vampire boyfriend with the wardrobe of a shitty glam metal band.

In 1985 Fright Night said what if we put some vampires in Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window? Fright Night is a self-aware fusion of the old school horror film with the contemporary teen thriller. A story about a Dracula-like vampire making his way in the modern world, though we suspect there is more to this story.

1987 was a very good year. Not only were we blessed with The Lost Boys, but another iconic vampire film, one that masterfully combined supernatural and western. It's the brutal Near Dark. A story about a vampiric family, equally terrifying and compelling, cracking jokes and slitting throats. Leather, dust and blood is what they live!

Well, some of us never quite saw the appeal of Tom Cruise until they put him in a blonde wig, gave him some fangs and a cunty attitude. 1994 classic Interview With The Vampire is really a movie about a gay vampire couple struggling to raise their young vampire daughter. If you want to watch Tom Cruise being a bitch and Brad Pitt moping around for 2 hours then this is the movie for you.

Blade takes the award for the sexiest vampire film ever simply because of its iconic blood shower club scene. It's fun, stylish and over-the-top with action sequences that go from badass to downright crazy. Watching Blade will get you yelling "fuck yeah" at the screen multiple times. It's interesting how Shakespeare has been real quiet ever since "some motherfuckers are always trying to ice-skate uphill" was written.

The Hunger's artsy approach wasn't appreciated upon its release in 1983 which made us come to the conclusion that audiences don't know shit. Vampires are sexy beasts and that's exactly what you get from this movie. Elegance, style and blood. Oh, and Bauhaus is there.

Oh, Buffy Summers, we're really in it now. It being sleeping with vampires, of course. Well, not that we would know, but we've been vicariously living through the Scooby Gang's adventures. Buffy the Vampire Slayer simply said what if high school was hell, like literally? It's simply an allegory of growing up.

In Buffy everything is a metaphor. While the vampires stood for all they have ever stood for - rebellion, subversion, predation and sexuality - Buffy, by virtue of her slayer status, was the outsider, a (stylish) embodiment of teenage alienation. You might have come for the genre storytelling, but you soon found yourself staying for so much more. The feminist sensibility. The humour. The intricate plots. The guts. The grief. The glory.
