LEGACY Summer/Fall 2016 Issue

Ladies, Welcome to the premiere issue of Legacy eMagazine. I’m so elated to share with you this online publication, which is a part of the “Courageous Lady Network” movement that was established in 2015. This eMagazine was created to place in print form the exciting things the Lord is doing in the lives of women around the world. Each issue will be designed to feature women who are in ministry, leadership, and/or serve as entrepreneurs. It will include success stories of how women have confronted obstacles, tackled doubt, fear and moved forward with embracing the purpose of God in their lives and the willingness to leave a legacy for others to follow. My hope is that this premiere issue will encourage your heart; compel you to pray and seek God for clarity and direction on moving forward in pursuing your purpose with grace; equip you with a word that brings you hope and peace, empowers you to grow and leads you to embrace an attitude that is positive and filled with joy for you and your life. Also, I hope this issue challenges you to experience a life of living, laughing, having fun with another sister on this Christian Journey. Last but not least, may you be inspired to leave a legacy of joy and hope for your family and those you are connected to! As you experience this eMagazine, help me in celebrating the beautiful, talented, and gifted ladies who are described as kingom builders, 21st century entrepreneurs and pioneers in this premiere issue. They are making their mark in the sand for God’s glory and leaving a legacy for generations to come. May the expressions of mercy, grace and the love of God be permeated throughout this magazine and allow you to receive love from another sister. Love, Grace and Peace Dr. Christine

Courage Saturday E Pursuing one’s purpose can be a very intimidating and an exciting adventure all at the same time. You think about the Who? What? When? Where? and How? day and night. The creativity flows from the inside of you until it seems so surreal. You get excited as you visualize the impact and the difference your ministry, company or leadership will have on society. And then, reality sets in, that it was only in your imagination and the visualization of your thoughts had never materialized or manifested for others to witness. That was me for so many years. I found myself procrastinating, fearing the unknown and not wanting to take risks. Not to mention, my thinking about the tools and resources I didn’t have, and the big one, believing that I didn’t have the right network of individuals to pursue my purpose. Much time

was spent comparing myself to others; not believing what was to me would be of value to another person. So, for years I spent a significant amount of time holding fast to the dreams and visions of others and feared to put forth the energy, time, and resources to do what I know God purposed me to do in the earth. It took courage for me to say “enough is enough,” I’m going to believe God and step out on faith and trust that his will shall be performed in my life for his glory. On July 25, 2016, Courageous Lady Network (CLN) was launched with a Saturday Experience. The theme was, “It’s Time to Be Bold. Be Strong. Be who God has Made YOU! This day allowed me to sow into the lives of others, cultivate relationships with other Ladies of the

eous Lady Experience Gospel, and to celebrate and encourage those in attendance. It has always been a passion of mine to host teas and luncheons, workshops and special events. One of my hobbies are to accentuate the activities I host with an amazing candy buffet that is streamlined with a variety of treats using colors to compliment the decorum. What’s equally important, it does my heart well to see the face of my guest excited and filled with joy as they participate in a day to celebrate them and take advantage of an opportunity to have fun and engage with others. I must say, it took prayer, fasting and seeking the face of God to step out of self to pursue my purpose for God’s glory. The Courageous Lady Saturday Experience was an all-day affair with three different events (Tea

and Luncheon, Meet and Greet, and an Evening Explosion) with women from Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Missouri.

Tea/Luncheon The afternoon Tea and luncheon was held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and the guest speaker was author and minister, Mr. Joseph B. Washington. He delivered an anointed message, “Running on a Broken Heel” that was written after the death of his mother. He shared seven healing steps to repairing the broken heels in one’s life” and caused the audience to reflect on the many sacrifices women make emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually to their health to remain

Meet and Greet Social The Saturday Experience Meet and Greet was simply amazing featuring Ms. Gabrielle Johnson from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. The audience was encouraged to strive for and focus on “Godfidence” and that God’s will be performed in one’s life. The message was liberating and blessed so many. Food and lots of useful gifts were made available for everyone in attendance. strong for others around them. The message also eluded to a common trait that women share like a pair of beautiful stiletto heels; on the outside gorgeous, but our interior broken and many times shattered. Joseph is known across America for his passionate style of speaking and book “A Let Average Go.” He is a dynamic motivator, whose gift is to empower individuals through challenges and to help them embrace their future. His passion for speaking is a result of his own personal struggle with stuttering

Evening Explosion To close the day, a Saturday Evening Explosion began at 7:00 p.m., with a tag team of seven sisters from the Body of Christ who preached, taught and while growing up in San Diego, California. Prophetess Nancy T. She is dedicated to spreading the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ by merging divine order and practical provision. Her heart is tender toward spiritual leaders on the “front lines” of warfare and encourages leaders to continue in this fight of faith. Nancy T. Brown knew that the hand of God was upon her life as a child. As a youth, she willingly joined and served within the ministry she attended. By the time she was a teenager, she was serving as a “Jr. Leader” and selected to mentor other teens in the Lord. Through the years, Nancy has been reared by many great leaders and served faithfully and tirelessly. She stands upon Romans 8:37-39 and encourages others to be convinced that nothing can separate them from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. She is a woman seeking to encourage the people of God and provide strategies and tools to empower the church. Her consistent dedication, leadership adeptness, prophetic mantel and obedience to God propelled her to birth Kingdom Expansion Mandators Ministries (KEMM) that was established in 2012, located in Montgomery, Alabama. the achieving result of ministry is to be a vessel that offers Jesus and an instrument that sets an atmosphere conducive for deliverance. Her greatest God-given leadership assignment is being a Mother to her one son, Todd Brown Jr. She has coined the phrases “Ministry is a Contact Sport” and “Meet Me at The Altar” in which their meaning are demonstrated during her execution while ministering at the Altar. She is a charismatic speaker delivering messages that inspire, encourage and promote effective change in the lives of those whom embrace the Word of God. Her ministry style is unique and her manner in delivering a prophetic word is known to reach the deepest depths when concerning the issues of the heart.

She travels globally, gracing national and international platforms and challenging God’s people to pursue the Lord wholeheartedly in order to TRULY reap His benefits. Pastor Yolanda P. Kelley Mt. Zion Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church Wetumpka, ALABAMA Rev. Kelley accepted her calling into the ministry in April of 2006. She serves as Pastor of Mount Zion Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Wetumpka, AL. The mission of the church is to encourage, strengthen and equip the people to become effectively and personally involved in leading others into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. FROM THE HEART OF PASTOR YOLANDA P. KELLEY: Pioneering, Embracing the Call and Leaving a Legacy for Others... "The Lord guided me to Ezekiel 2:1-10, is what I recall in my personal experience and revelation of being called into ministry according to Ephesians 4:10. At that time, I did not know that God was calling me to minister or to become His prophetess. I later accepted my calling to pastor, and shortly after ministering; God released the gift of speaking in tongues and the prophetic in my life. In embracing the call of God, it is my heart to see believers equipped through the word of God and to become Disciples of Christ through the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. One of my favorite scriptures is 1 Cor 4:9, "But

as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” As a Pastor, I believe in leadership that is exercised through modeling, mentoring, instructing and life coaching. The purpose of my ministry is to move beyond the walls of the church and offer tangible love and support to all humanity. To me the word pioneer means, to be the first person to start something. In my family, I am the first ordained pastor to accept the call of God. I am also, the first female minister to be appointed to Mount Zion Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Wetumpka, AL in the 118th Central Alabama Annual Conference by Bishop Dennis V. Proctor. As a pioneer, I hope to leave a global ministry that will reach the masses in leadership training, spiritual warfare and embrace the body of Christ through God’s word. My words of wisdom for the readers is to get wisdom and understanding. My greatest passion for ministry is seeing believers experience an awakening to the goodness of God’s grace through hope and love." Pastor Yolanda P. Kelley is a native of Montgomery, Alabama. She is married to Ishmeal Kelley, and they have two children, Grayson, and Kaylee. She is a graduate of Alabama State University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems, Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision and is currently pursuing her Educational Specialist Degree (E.D.S) in Instructional Technology at Auburn University in Montgomery. Prophet Arise - Apostle John Eckhardt

Score| 10+ Excellent Apostle John Eckhardt is the best-selling author of more than twenty (20) books and the Overseer of Crusaders Ministries located in Chicago, Illinois. On July 7, 2015, he released Prophet Arise, a 170-page anointed, insightful, and easy reading book that will challenge and change the lives of those who read it with an open heart and transparency to self and God. This book sets the tone for why prophecy should be a part of every believer’s life. Prophet Arise is not a book one should occasionally read, but rather it is a resource, a tool, and an answered prayer for many believers who are confused about the prophetic, prophesying or even the Ephesians 4:11 calling. My belly leaped with joy and excitement as practicality and understanding collided in my digesting this meaty book. I couldn’t stop reading, and the revelation of scripture I received through this material was just amazing. Personally, I don’t believe your life will be the same after reading Prophet Arise. There is a sound of clarity that comes forth out of this book to awaken every believer to prophesy. Apostle Eckhardt has written a book that is rich, relevant, and intentional in developing skillful and strategic believers in the area of prophecy. Prophet Arise's introduction describes the reasoning, need, and clarion call for prophets to come out from hiding. The following provides a caption of the eight chapters included in the book. Chapter 1: "The Making of a Prophet" is an eye-opening chapter that sets the precedence for understanding the purpose of the prophet and speaks to the preparation required, types of prophets, and use and need of the prophet. Chapter 2: "Characteristics of a Prophet" will help many silent men and women to biblically identify with who they are and this chapter speaks to the essence of a person confused and lack the understanding of the call, office, or the need to prophesy as a believer in Jesus Christ

. Chapter 3: "What Moves the Heart of a Prophet" reminds us as believers that we should all desire a heart for God and daily practice drawing closer to Christ. This chapter is a reminder of David, who was connected to God and witnessed the heartbeat and flow of God. Also, the chapter describes what God hates and what he loves which is to commune with believers. Chapter 3 also prepares all believers to have a heart of compassion, to live a life of holiness, power, zeal, and to hate sin. •Chapter 4: "The Rewards of a Prophet" covers the ministry of a prophet and what we receive, how we are blessed and warned, and the impartation we receive from this gift. •Chapter 5: "The Prophet’s Manifesto" is a short chapter that characterizes the intentions, motives, and views of the prophet. •Chapter 6: "Prophets on the Run" will be an eye-opener to the reader. It deals with a believer refusing to embrace the prophetic call and assignment. More alarming, this chapter describes the consequences of disobedience. It also speaks to believers who continue to make excuses for refusing to embrace their purpose. Repentance and prayer are what this chapter will lead the reader to do. •Chapter 7: "Healing and Deliverance for Prophets" is a chapter that raises an awareness of the attacks and the need for intentional and powerful prayer for healing and deliverance for prophets. •Chapter 8: "Prayers and Declaration to Release the Prophet in You" is a prophetic revelation of how to break the power of Jezebel and release the prophets in your family. Prophet Arise is a book that should be read with ease, peace and a desire to align with the call. I give this book a 10+ and look forward to future works of Apostle Eckhardt.

Identity Crisis Do You Know Who Your Are?

Nearly every person created by God the Father has experienced some measure or facet of not knowing who they are and what they were created to do in the earth. Not to mention the feeling of not knowing who you are as it relates to the Word of God. Today, many women are struggling with identity issues that result in transforming their exterior as they perpetually struggle with how they fill on the inside. It takes courage to embrace who you are without fear, shame or guilt. As Philippians 1:6 states, “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” It's important to know that despite the obstacles, setbacks, disappointments, failures, or rejection you have or will face, it will never take away from God’s purpose and destiny for your life. More specifically, God knew you and why he created you before you were even formed in your mother’s womb. Unfortunately, the enemy attacks us like a roaring lion seeking to destroy us at all times. That’s why it’s important for us to be alert, sober and vigilant as we embrace who God says we are as his child. The enemy spends lots of time having people to focus on the negative, but the ignorance of one’s identity can cause a sudden loss of vision, motivation, strength, joy, and faith. It's time to

look at the life of Christ and learn to affirm confidently in who we are in HIM! In the third chapter of Matthew (Matt. 3:13-17), Jesus is baptized by John in the river Jordan. Amid this indelible baptism, the Holy Spirit descends upon Christ like a dove, and God the Father speaks from heaven and utters these words, “this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” Then as soon as we transition into the fourth chapter of Matthew verses 1 through 11, Satan tempts Christ in the wilderness and begins nearly each temptation with the phrase “if thou be the Son of God, then……………” If the enemy can get us to second guess who we are in Christ, he can stop or hinder what God desires to do through us. The devil always speaks against what God has spoken concerning us. Now faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17); however, doubt, fear, and unbelief come by hearing the words of Satan and degenerate men. Here lies the problem, we have ascribed more value to the opinions of men rather than the honor that comes from God alone. There comes a time when we have to possess a holy stubbornness about ourselves to keep from sinking in the enemy’s quicksand of vain imaginations! Admittedly, there are

Rising Entrepreneurs: In Pursuit of Purpose From 1989-2013, the fear of failure is the overall reason for individuals under 30 years of age that will seek to chase their dreams of one day being a business owner. Today, there are fewer than ever young entrepreneurs who are pursuing opportunities. In the article, "Surprising Truth about Young Entrepreneurs" written by A. Yang in September of 2015, he says, “the spirit of enterprise appears to be fading in the U.S., the pioneer spirit that made our country strong so long” is dissipating.” Kevin Systrom, the Instagram Co-founder, and CEO sends strong message, “If you’ve got an idea, start today. There’s no better time than now to get going. That doesn’t mean quit your job and jump-start your idea 100% from day one, but there’s small progress that can be made to start a movement.”

Yes, entrepreneurship takes hard work and perseverance regardless of age. It means striving for success but remaining humble. It begins with taking an idea, working the idea daily and allowing it to manifest into a reality with patience. Meet Kimberly L. Thomas and Britney S. Godfrey. They are two up and coming entrepreneurs who are pursuing their passion with a two-fold purpose. They are courageous young ladies (Joshua1:9) who are taking baby steps, day-by-day, to learn their craft to be the best they can be (1 Peter 4:10); and recognize and believe it will be God who will give them wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). Despite the big risk, all of the challenges and obstacles one can face as an entrepreneur, they are in fearless pursuit of being a part of the small few business owners in the United States.

Kae Kouture Boutique (KKB) is an up and coming store, established to sell high-quality clothes, accessories, and fragrances at a very affordable price. The vision of KKB also encompasses reaching out to young ladies between the ages of 13-18 through speaking engagements to share the importance of salvation, external beauty, and building character as we read in 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV), “But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” Kimberly’s passion for fashion started at the tender age of four. She’d find herself picking out clothes, accessories, and shoes that she perceived as glamorous, fashionable, and far more appealing than what her mother would ever put together. Kimberly describes her

daily battle of refusing to wear Carter’s, Osh Kosh B Gosh, and other brands children her age would wear. She recalls one day telling her Mommy, “DON’T BUY ME ANYMORE CLOTHES FROM SEARS OR JCPENNEY’S! PLEASE DON’T PUT THOSE UGLY OUTFITS TOGETHER.” By the time she was eight years old, she would have her dad take her to beauty stores and shops to make her personal selections. She’d pick out clothes and fabric, pull outfits together, and even dress up her big sister. Kimberly believes it was God showing her at a young age that fashion would be a business and ministry that she would share with other girls and young ladies. Kimberly loves fashion because “it is a way to reach out to young ladies this day in age (in my generation that is.). My family, especially my dad, has always seen this sense of fashion in

Even though I didn’t want to do start KKB immediately because of fear and procrastination, I knew it was necessary to move forward in obedience to God. to know what your ministry or passion is, you must pray to God. Besides praying to God, you must know yourself. BUILDING OTHERS UP THROUGH BUSINESS AND MINISTRY... Kimberly believes there are many ways you use your body as a temple, and the way you dress is one. She seeks to reach young ladies and share the importance of dressing modestly, identifying their beauty, and being fashionable on the outside while knowing who they are on the inside. Kimberly says her goal for KKB is to go on and on for many generations, letting young ladies know it is okay to be beautiful the PURE way: not just in clothes, but with confidence in God and poised class in the way they carry themselves. For young entrepreneurs interested in owning their own business, she recommends that they “trust in God, have faith, be disciplined,

and have someone to hold you accountable. My family holds me accountable all the time, along with God. He gives me ideas every day about my business, and I know I have to move forward and not procrastinate. KKB is in the development stages of a t-shirt line that is anticipated to launch in the late fall of 2016. In 2017, Kimberly L. Thomas will

host workshops in collaboration with local leaders to offer sessions on identifying your purpose, pursuing that purpose with passion, and building leadership skills. Sessions will be held in Montgomery, Alabama. Website coming soon!

allowed her to use her imagination and creativity.

Brit’ney is a naturally talented young entrepreneur who has an eclectic approach to beauty. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to a family full of talented artists, cosmetologists, writers, innovators, and artists. She expresses her passion as creativity flowing through her veins. From a young age, she was fascinated with aesthetics. Her mother was a cosmetologist who currently operates several businesses in Las Vegas. Her father, a prodigy barber, is the owner and operator of 3 Sinks, LLC in Chicago, Illinois. Constantly surrounded by people that used their natural gifts and talents to express themselves, she's always been captivated things that have to do with beauty – hair, skin, nails, fashion, etc. Britney has always wanted to do what “grown-ups” could do, wearing long hair, getting acrylic nails, and dressing like your in a fashion show. Much of the money she received from her family for holidays and birthdays went to what she called her “beauty collection.” This “beauty collection” consisted of all the simple things she felt she needed to enhance her natural beauty (multiple lip glosses, cheap jewelry, an assortment of nail polishes, a variety of combs and brushes, etc.). Although she wasn’t sure of what she wanted to be in life, she knew her career choice had to be one that

In 2015, she stepped out and started Simply Beautiful by Britney. Specializing in organic body scrubs prepared with ingredients designed for exfoliating and moisturizing young and old skin. She describes her business as “it is a ministry God has given me and allows me to approach beauty in a simple but creative way, from the inside out. I hope to reach and impact the hearts of many young ladies and women everywhere! It is a business and ministry that was created out of a passion to help young ladies and women worldwide become confident in who God has created them to be inside and out and to be confident in who they are and in whom God has created them to be."

Psalm 139:14 is the foundational scripture she embraces for Simply Beautiful by Britney. It says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Brit’ney says, “you’re created in the image of God, and He doesn’t make junk! Like a snowflake, every person is unique. No two are the same. God sees you as a masterpiece; and when you look in the mirror, He wants you to ‘know that full well. The

Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Service | Page 55 previous scripture relates to my life in more ways than one. It has reminded me through my life that I am special, I have a purpose, and I am important! It helps me to stay motivated and remind myself to keep pushing through because I have a unique purpose on this earth. I am a great masterpiece created by my Father God. Simply Beautiful by Britney is a business that God has graced me to oversee, and it is very special to me.” “I have always had a special place in my heart to encourage my fellow sisters in Christ and even non-believers that they should love themselves because of who God has made them. In the past, I dealt with issues of feeling inadequate about myself on the inside, and that leaked over into my outer appearance. I dressed and carried myself without a sense of selflove or knowing my worth. However, as I got older I finally started to believe God’s word and His promises. I had been told my whole life I was beautiful, but I just didn’t feel quite as beautiful on the inside. I wanted to know without a doubt that I was unique, different, special, and many other great things. I had to declare and meditate on God’s word about me. When I did that, I started to carry myself with more confidence and self-love because I knew that I was not only a beautiful creation by God, but I was beautiful on the inside as well!" “My experience as a pioneer has had many trials and tribulations – especially with me being so young. It has meant standing out, being ridiculed, people disliking me without reason, feeling alone, and many other hurtful and uncomfortable things. However, being a pioneer is very special to me because I know God is with me. In times of hardship, I have to remind myself of God’s promises and His word. For example, Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and future. I know the downfall of being a pioneer is well worth it because God is in control and He knows what He is doing and what is best for me. Everything that God allows me to experience strengthens me, builds my character, and grows my relationship with Him as well as my faith in Him. You just have to keep persevering, pushing forward, and continuously trusting God and

His plan for your life. My pastor once said something that impacted me. He asked, “Do you know how many hairs are on your head?...God does! (Luke 12:7) So if He does, then don’t you think He knows you better than you know yourself, what’s best for you and everything in between?” What led me to embrace the ministry God has entrusted me with, was simply me getting to a point in my life where I said: “God I trust you and want all that you have for me.” Simply Beautiful embodies a lot of my personality, my interests, and passions. It was inevitable for me to avoid it because it is a part of who I am. I in some form or fashion went back to where I started, following the path that God has already laid out for me.”

PIONEERING SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL BY BRITNEY… “Putting it blatantly, pioneering means to stand out, potentially be ridiculed and disliked by others without reason, be different and sometimes stand alone. However, through all of that realize God is with you and He will never leave nor forsake you. Realize that you are unique, you have a special purpose on this earth that you have to fulfill, and

there will be hard times and tribulations that you have to push through and depend on God for everything for, every step if the way. Pioneering builds character, your belief, and confidence in yourself; it builds your faith; it strengthens you and your relationship with God and many others miraculous things. Just keep preserving and trusting God for everything.” Just do it! Believe in all that God has entrusted you with. Take each day one day at a time and in each day one moment at a time. Procrastinating or waiting for “the right time” will not get you anywhere because trust me there is no “right” or “perfect” moment. You have to take a leap of faith and get the ball rolling. Waiting around will make you continuously try to perfect something that will never become perfect, trust me I’ve tried! The more you wait, the longer you will be left behind and not fulfilling your purpose, dreams, and goals. It will feel like everyone else is making

great things happen but you. So simply putting it, just trust God and do it!” The legacy she hopes to leave behind to others is quite simple but so great that it can be used to help anyone at any age – “Love you first! Before adding anything, any make- up, changes, etc., be satisfied with whom God has made you on the inside, and it will carry to your outer appearance. You don’t have to do a lot to feel beautiful, less can also mean more!”

JUST LET GO OF WHAT’S NOT WORKING AND KEEP PRESSING! Annually, many women establish New Year’s resolutions, prepare plans, and/or put a checklist of things to accomplish. for the year Unfortunately, by the time the next year rolls around, those same lists are incomplete or never achevied. Not to mention the disappointment and frustration that often permeates throuighout the heart for something you thought you should be doing. So, many times we quit and create a new list of things to accomplish. It's August of 2016, and you should decide to end the perpetual cycle of doing what you think but embrace the discipline to do everything that God has placed in your heart. It will certainly take prayer, fasting and even spending time meditating and studying the Word of God, but it's never too late to let go of what's not working. It's time for you to do what you were destined to do without quitting or stalling.

We have an amazing God who orders our steps (Psalm 37:23), knew us before we were formed in our mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1:5); and knows us and keeps us covered. So, don’t get bent out of shape, stop pouting, and get back up again, even if it is the seventh time you've made your list (Proverbs 24:16). It's time to move forward on what you know YOU should be doing? Do you have a ministry or service on the inside of you that thousands are waiting to be blessed by? Are you the next owner of a Fortune 500 company? Are you the next leader who will shape the government, higher eduication, medical field, etc.? or is your first move, pursuing healthy life choices, reconciling a relationship, letting go of toxic relationships, pursuing your education or taking some time to enjoy life? Whatever it may be, don’t become frustrated by what you can’t or didn’t do so far in 2016. Receive

God’s grace to do what he wants for your life in 2016. You will find peace in knowing His plans and purpose far outweigh your desires. Align your plans with God’s will and not your own. Mediate on God, His Word, our Savior, and embrace the power of the Holy Ghost. Let our advocate the Holy Spirit teach you all things and remind you of everything.

Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal. There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I’ve warned you of them many times; sadly, I have to do it again. All they want is easy street. They hate Christ’s Cross. But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites. But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting for the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him.”

Take a moment to reflect and think about what you have accomplished for God’s glory in this year. Let go of all setbacks, frustration, anxiety, disappointment, and attitude. Decide to live for God and chose to receive His grace, mercy, and will to choose Him. Connect with others and refuse to be an Islander. Embrace the synergy that comes with connecting with other sisters. Read these words from Philippians 3:13-21, (The Message): "’I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision— you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track let’s stay on it.

Don’t quit. Let me encourage you to pull out your Bible, pen, and journal. It is time for you to commune with the Lord in prayer and in the Word of God. Write your vision for your future that you shall receive that will flow out of yur heart. Don't be afraid to move forward. The Lord is waiting on you!!!! Remember you are more than a conqueror, you can’t stop now. May the Lord breathe a fresh anointing over you and everything that you do for his will right now in Jesus name. Amen!

TO RISK By: William Arthur Ward

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool, To weep is to risk appearing sentimental. To reach out to another is to risk involvement, To expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self. To place your ideas and dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss. To love is to risk not being loved in return, To live is to risk dying, To hope is to risk despair, To try is to risk failure. But risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, But he cannot learn, feel, change, grow or live. Chained by his servitude he is a slave who has forfeited all freedom. Only a person who risks is free. The pessimist complains about the wind; The optimist expects it to change; And the realist adjusts the sails."

21st Century Pioneers: Making a Difference in the Lives of Others Princesses of Power, Hearts and Heels, Ministry of Laughter are ministries that have been established by three women of God . They have zeal, influence and an attitude of excellence that will impact others in a unique way and bring healing to the soul. Meet Lady Gabrielle Johnson, Lady Shae Robinson, and Lady Ashley C. Thomas.

Princesses of Power Gabrielle Johnson

Gabrielle was inspired by God to start her ministry the Princesses of Power (POP) on September 29, 2012 under the women’s ministry of Union Grove Baptist Church of Union City, Inc. The vision of Princesses of Power is to teach, empower and encourage young ladies, ranging from ages 2-18, to live an honest and pure lifestyle, one that is pleasing to God. Gabrielle says, "we preach purity, but when we say purity, we mean committing to stay pure in every area of their lives and honoring God with their mind, body, and soul. She describes her passion for ministry as having a love for people and service. She states, “ “I love what I do, and I love my princesses. It’s amazing. What I thought was meant for bad in my life, the Lord turned it around for my good. So I was able to take my past experiences and teach and empower young girls to sgtand boldly in who God wanted them to be and not who the world wanted them to be. To be a positive influence in their lives is an awesome feeling and I give God the glory for being placed in this position to do so even when I did not feel qualified. Your past has not come full circle to its complete redemption until you allow Christ to not only defuse it, but also use it.” – Author Beth Moore, So Long Insecurity. You have to feel what the people who you are ministering to are feeling as well. Romans 12:15 (KJV) says, “Rejoice

with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.” I rejoice in their happiest moments and accomplishments and my heart weeps when they are going through. I want nothing but the best for my princesses. I feel like ministry should be taken seriously because it has such a huge influence on people’s lives. I recommend not entering ministry if you do not have a passion for doing it or if it’s not in your heart to do it.” “I don’t believe in telling my princesses to live a certain way if I’m not doing the same. If you look at this scripture at verse 9 (NLT), it states “How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word.” To stay pure and remain on the right path, you have to have God’s word planted deep inside of your, heart. Being a 28-year old who chose to live a life that honors God or choosing to abstain from sex until marriage is not very popular in my age group, but that is what I am choosing to do. I want the same for my princesses. I want them to have the word planted so deep in their hearts that they will be able to make the right choices to stay on the right path as well. I’m watching society take our young girls who are becoming so influenced by the world whether it’s through reality shows, social media, peers, etc. I’m watching them compare their lives to the women on these reality shows. I’m watching them display their precious temples to the social media world for likes and attention. I’m watching them fill their hearts with what the world has to offer. This ministry means so much to me because I

Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Service | Page 63 When I think of pioneering, the following words come to mind: introduce, develop, launch, initiate, and establish. We never had a purity ring ceremony before. So to be able to develop and introduce this ministry to my church was awesome and a lot of people jumped on board with this idea. I think this will also be great for our community. We are looking forward to working with some of our sister churches in the future and reaching out to more and more young ladies. We look forward to working with the local schools. We want to promote purity everywhere. Legacy for Others... know that we can be that change and influence in their lives. We want to teach young ladies that there is a better way and that it is perfectly fine to live a life that honors God. This ministry also means so much to me because I have watched how God used my past experiences and thus inspired me to create and head a ministry targeted to help our young girls not take the same path. I want to empower them so that one day the will be able to walk boldly into the purpose that God has set before them and grow to become the women of God that He has called them to be."

The legacy I hope to leave with others from my ministry is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with deciding to choose a life of purity despite what society displays. I want them to know that it is ok to be a princess of God and live their life differently than how others around them may live. In fact, I want them to take what’s been planted in their hearts and influence the people around them whether it’s their family members, friends, or community.

FROM THE HEART OF GABRIELLE JOHNSON: Pioneering and Embracing Princesses of Power... I always had the heart to do something for the young girls in my church but never quite had the confidence to step out and create something for them. The women’s ministry was an amazing platform to create such a program. When I was approached by our women’s ministry chair at the time, Dr. Dorothy H. Arnold, to join the advisory board it took me out of my comfort zone. The board collectively came together and decided to establish a bi-annually purity ring ceremony called The Princess Tea. I’ve never lead a ministry before so, of course, I was a little nervous about being in my new position. I had a lot of help from the women at my church as well as my wonderful Princess committee, Deaconess Cheryl Johnson, and Daria Nikole Freeman. By the time we had the second ceremony in 2014, I was very comfortable in my position and fully taking on the ministry that was entrusted to me.

I want them to develop this sisterhood where they can hold each other accountable. I want them to go out and promote purity as well. There is a reward in honoring God with your life. I want the princesses and future princesses to come to know that they possess so much value and worth, and it comes from Jesus Christ. I want to leave with them that they are fearfully and wonderfully made and created in God’s image. I want them to boldly and confidently walk in their truth and that there are no limits in God. They can do all things through Christ who strengthens them.

Word of Wisdom

One word of wisdom I would like to share with others as they move forward in trusting God to step out in faith to launch their ministry or business and that is

PRAYER! Sit before God and ask Him what it is He wants you to do and where He wants you to go with, the vision that has been placed before you, then quietly listen. Don’t sit around and worry about where you are going to get the money from or how you are going to get started. God is going to equip you with the tools and resources needed to get your business or ministry started. I like the scripture Psalms 37:5 (KJV), “Commit thy way unto the Lord; also trust in him, and He shall bring it to pass. Commit everything you do in your ministry and business to God, and everything will come together for you! Upcoming Activities: • POP Royal Readers Monthly Book Study: one Saturday of each month at 1pm Union Grove Baptist Church of Union City, Inc. • 2016 Princess Tea Purity Ring Ceremony, Saturday October 22, 2016, at 2pm Union Grove Baptist. The Princess Tea Purity ring ceremony is a bi-annual event in which young girls ranging from the ages of 12-18 make a commitment to their purity to God through the symbolic showing of taking a vow and receiving a purity ring. The tea event represents elegance, sophistication, and etiquette. The tea is an elegant reception held to celebrate the young ladies on their new dedication and milestone in their lives.

So far, the ministry has had 20 young ladies receive a purity ring from 2012-2014. Biography Ms. Gabrielle Johnson is the daughter of Deacon James and Deaconess Cheryl Johnson. She has one brother, James D. Johnson, II. Gabrielle was born in Ft. McClellan, AL. Growing up as a military child, afforded her the opportunity to live in many locations across the country. She now resides in Palmetto, Georgia. Gabrielle is a member of Union Grove Baptist Church of Union City, Inc., under the leadership of Pastor John D. Menefee, Sr., where she actively serves in the women’s and music ministry. She is an alumnus of Alabama State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2010. Gabrielle is a woman who strives to be more and more like Jesus every day. Her young life is dedicated to pleasing God, simply put to her princesses, “Live a life that makes God happy.” Her favorite scripture that she lives by is Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) and it states: “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not evil, to give you an expected end.” Follow the Princesses of Power, on Facebook: The Princess Tea

Lady Shae Robinson On November 5, 2015, “Hearts and Heels” was established to reach real women with real views discussing real issues, sharing real stories and having real conversations over the airwaves. It’s a platform that provides a judgement-free zone where women can inspire and be inspired by their testimonies. Its purpose is to educate, encourage, exhort and engage women on an intellectual, emotional and spiritual level; provide an outlet for women to share and learn from other women; tear down the walls of shame, brokenness, guilt, frustration, and depression amongst women; and expose the secret things that have entangled the minds, hearts and souls of women to overcome the judgement of the enemy.

and by the word of their testimony, and they loved their lives unto death) intrigued her. She read several versions and began to pray and ask God for the ability to share her “real” story. She experienced so much in her life, yet was afraid to share. God started to reveal to her why she went through every struggle. As she prayed the scripture and asked God for her next step, the vision of the show happened. She continued to pray, and God healed her and delivered her from the bondages of her past. Now, she believes she can help someone else overcome their toughest times with her testimony. “I have the ability to speak into someone’s life every week for an hour. I am internationally streamed, and the world gets to hear this little old country girl from Pine Apple, Alabama share her Lady Shae has always been a very private person struggles. I am honored to be here. I say this often; and never wanted to share her struggles. She says, I don’t take it lightly. I think about the moment I in her toughest times, she smiled. When she was struggled with sharing this vision and I compare it supposed to feel, she shut down. When she needed to Esther. The moment Mordecai said if you don’t to be “real” about her feelings, she morphed into a do it, God will get someone else to do it quickrobot. The scripture verse, Revelation 12:11, KJV ened me to act on God’s command. I am grateful (and they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, that I was obedient to the spirit, and did not allow

my personal fears or inadequacies overshadow what I knew God had spoken to me. I am blessed, and I could not picture my life any other way says, Lady Shae.

FROM THE HEART OF LADY SHAE ROBINSON: Embracing Hearts and Heels... It has been a struggle. My first instinct was to ignore the vision because it was unfamiliar territory. I did not think my voice would sound good over the airways, I did not think I was spiritually prepared for the questions, I was not sure of the direction of each show and more. All of these questions engulfed my mind as soon as I processed the vision. Then my faith kicked in, and I went forth. God blessed the vision. I went to the radio station, and they were excited because they had been looking for a women’s show for nearly two

years. We were blessed with so many free favors that any doubt I had was eliminated. Immediately, I understood I was walking in my destiny and purpose. We have been on the air since November 5, 2015, and it has been a lot of ups and downs. The enemy does his job well, but no matter how good he is, God is greater. Every single show we have an opportunity to activate the vision of “Hearts and Heels” and I don’t take it lightly that I have been chosen for this task. He could have chosen anyone, but I know that everything I have gone through has prepared me for this moment in ministry. I believed God for the provision; I had faith in His direction, and I prayed before every conversation and decision. There's a world of people looking for someone to care, and I want to reach each one of them. I want to save the lost, heal the brokenhearted, set the captives free, deliver the depressed, transform the deceiver, and bring the backbiter into repentance”

with an outcome of sharing who God is for real. I want women to realize the power of healing through sharing. Someone needs to hear your story no matter how small or how terrible you think it is. What you survived can help someone else survive. Share and don’t be ashamed. Your story is a treasure from God. Pioneering and Leaving a Legacy... My interpretation of a pioneer/pioneering is someone who has created or developed something that has or will impact the world. They help shape society and pave the way for others. Pioneers are fearless, strong, relentless, courageous, intelligent, prayerful, obedient and innovative. They don’t mind getting in the trenches and stay humble when others want to put them on a pedestal. Most importantly, pioneers understand their purpose and look forward to walking into their destiny. Be authentic to what God has called you to do. Don’t let others sway your vision or change how God has told you to manage your ministry. Just because someone may have insight on whatever God has given you, doesn’t mean that is the direction He wants you to follow. God called you to this task! Have faith in yourself. Have faith in God.

Ministry of Laughter Ashley Christina Thomas In a recent interview with Ashley C. Thomas, she answered some pointed questions regarding her development of Ministry of Laughter that began its humble beginnings in 2011. The vision is to become a multicultural, international ministry that helps to unite the Body of Christ and reach the world through humor; and also to assists individuals in learning practical application of biblical principles, challenge societal norms and misconceptions that God against God’s word, love, and character and promote mental health through humorous and innovate approaches to the creative arts. The mission of Ministry of Laughter is to remove the focus from the cares of life and this world to focusing on the Lord and His goodness and joy. This ministry serves to heal the broken heart and to increase understanding and practical daily application of the Word of God. Enjoy the commentary received from Ashley as she opens up her heart and exposes her passion for ministry, obstacles faces, and determination to move forward by trusting God to fulfill her purpose with a ministry that brings healing to the soul.

Now, from the heart of Ashley! Ashley, describe your passion for ministry. When you’re passionate about something, you study it through reading and examining others’ experiences and work in that area. I love watching A Spike Lee Joint or Robert Townsend classic and thinking about how their work can inspire my own. I visualize myself winning Emmys and Oscars. Ultimately, though, my inspiration comes from the Holy Spirit. There were times in the past when I would try to fulfill ministry goals because someone said I should or out of guilt that God would be mad that I did not have my ministry off of the ground. However, when I look back on the times I operated in my ministry purpose; it came from out of my heart and from the leading of the Lord. During these times, nobody told me to direct a church play, write a skit to perform in front of my middle school, or purchase equipment to film. It just flowed freely from my heart as the Lord lead, and I enjoyed it. On the

Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Service | Page 71

other hand, times when I started a blog or Facebook page to try to launch a business or initiative out of my strength, nothing seemed to flow as I wanted it to and I got disinterested or even frustrated. You may have heard the saying, “There’s a good idea, and then there’s a God idea.” I want to stick with the God ideas.

process. So while I look forward to the Emmys and Oscars, I’m just as excited about where I am and what I’m learning now.

I would be lying to say that if it’s a God idea then it’s always easy, and there are never any challenges. Working on a doctorate and filming one to two videos a week by myself, playing multiple characters—and let’s not talk about editing!—takes discipline, commitment, and consistency, which alone is a process. It takes a certain level of courage. Before I post a video, I have family and friends check it out for me. However, before it even gets to them, I must see value in my work. If I think the video is just okay, why should I send it to them? My passion requires excellence that comes from doing things as unto the Lord and not unto man— not even unto myself (Colossians 3:23). Only God can give us the desires of our hearts, so it’s important to know truly what passion He has placed inside of us, to avoid distractions and wasting time. When you’re passionate about the purpose, it helps you to be just as passionate about the

Although people in high school and my earlier years knew that I had a sense of humor, in college, I used my humor as some defense mechanism. It was a way for me to determine who my “real friends” were. If I didn’t show my silly side to you, then I considered you a peer and not a friend. This led to the majority of those I interacted with on campus thinking that I was such a serious, and probably boring, person. In actuality, laughter is such a huge part of who I am that I was shutting people out from really getting to know me. This led to a cycle of displaying a serious demeanor on the outside, having people assume that I was unapproachable or stuck-up, and then putting up my guard even more because I felt that people did not understand the real me—all the while, oblivious to the fact that I was the one portraying a false image of who God made me! It was not until after undergrad that I realized

How do you describe your experience as a pioneer and what led you to embrace the ministry God has entrusted to you?

What’s Your Legacy? | Page 72

how passionate I was for film and just how much I enjoyed making those around me laugh. Proverbs 3:27 (New English Translation) continued to minister to me: “Do not withhold good from those who need it when you have the ability to help.” If the Bible says that laughter is like good medicine, and I know that I have the ability to minister to people with that good medicine, why would I withhold that for the sake of maintaining some image of myself that I don’t even like and denying God His glory? In 2011, my mom encouraged my friends and me to go to the church and just start filming for fun. We ended up filming enough to make two videos. The sound and image quality were not the best AT ALL, and the videos only got a few views, but that moment allowed me to break past the fear of being vulnerable so that I could be a blessing to others. This moment reminded me of one of my favorite quotes “Do not wait: the time will never be 'just right'. Start where you stand, and work whatever tools you may have at your command and better tools will be found as you go along” (Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich). I wanted to wait until I had the perfect equipment and lighting, a degree in film and who knows what else, when all God wanted me to do was start with what I had and trust and lean on Him for where that would take me (read Ecclesiastes 11:4).” Proverbs 17:22a (NLT) and 1 Corinthians 10:13a (NLT) are scriptural references Ashley embraces for Ministry of Laughter. She describes how they relate to her ministry by saying, “laughter can lead to a cheerful heart, and I truly believe the Lord sees value in laughter as a form of healing. Some of the most memorable sermons I’ve heard or words of correction that I’ve received were through the use of humor. Humor made the message easier to understand and easier to receive without watering down the Word of God. The church is where I learned that humor and the Word of God are not at odds with one another. It

is amazing that the Lord has placed a ministry on my heart that serves people by making them laugh and smile. To me, that means that the Lord will grace me with and equip me for the opportunities to do just.’ that. Pioneering... Pioneering to me means “the first to do it and the first to do it that way.” As far as Ministry of Laughter, there are plenty of people on social media who already create videos about church/religious humor, ranging from seven second Vines to 10+ minute YouTube videos. However, I have not seen a female my age on social media connecting the content of humorous Christian videos to scripture, posing thought-provoking questions about those videos, and breaking down their messages to minister to those watching. Groups of people can pioneer, so I’m not saying that I am or have to be the very first person in the world to do this. If I can be a part of the first group of believers to use humor to challenge societal norms that go against God’s word, assist others in learning practical applications of biblical principles, and promote mental health, then I’m truly blessed and grateful for the opportunity. Words of Wisdom... Be honest about your desires and intentions in launching your business or ministry. Are you launching your business because God instructed you to and as he instructed you to, or are you launching a business because you don’t trust that God will provide for you and you want to “make things happen” or gain popularity? Many times we say things like “Lord, if I can just help one person, it was all worth it,” but deep down inside we know that we want a large platform or for our inspirational Instagram quote or Facebook video to go viral. If we are not willing to sit down before the Lord and be honest about this, and choose to remain humble with the two followers or the two million followers, we will find ourselves distracted

from our real purpose, which is always to know God and to make Him known—not make ourselves known. This is a constant heart-check and battle of transparency that I have witnessed well-known Christian artists share on social media as well. Leaving a Legacy... A legacy should be more than just leaving materials possessions for generations to come. It is my hope to leave a legacy of joy and laughter, innovation, and honesty for generations to come from Ministry of Laughter. Biography Ashley Christina Thomas was born on December 29 in Montgomery, Alabama. In 2011, she graduated with a B.A. in communication (public relations) from Alabama State University. In 212, she earned her M.S. in foundations in education from Florida State University, with an emphasis sin multicultural and international development education. Ashley is a second-year Ph.D. student and instructor at

Intimacy With God Begins By First Establishing A Relationship With Jesus Christ

How can I have a relationship with God? “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son” John 3:16-18, NIV. If you have not accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, why don’t you do so now? Open your heart and receive the promises of God, eternal life. Let God remove all your yokes and burdens and release His everlasting love, faithfulness, patience, peace and joy in your life. “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” II Peter 3:9. Let the Lord come into your heart. Christ will save you now... “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation” Romans 10:9-10. Don’t let the enemy continue to kill, steal, and destroy your life. The Lord is willing and just to forgive you of all your sins. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9.

By saying this simple prayer, you can begin a life that will give you eternal life instead of death: “Heavenly Father, I know that I am a sinner. I believe in my heart that you sent your son Jesus Christ to die on the cross at Calvary for my sins was buried and rose on the third day with all power. I accept your forgiveness and thank you for the blood Jesus shed for my sins. Come into my heart and become Lord of my life. I pray that you will guide me and lead me in my daily walk. In the name of Jesus, I thank you for saving me, and I bless your holy name. In Jesus name, Amen.” The angels in heaven are rejoincing because of your decision to connect with God through the Blood of Jesus Christ. It is now time for you to connect with a local church or ministry as soon as you can. You should learn how to cultivate and grow in your relationship with God; learn how Jesus Christ paid the price for us and learn how to walk and believe in the authority given to believers to live a holy and victorious life; and learn how we receive power from the Holy Ghost. In the meantime, call a loved one or friend to share your good news. Courageous Lady Network (CLN) celebrates with you on your decision to be a part of the Lord’s Army. If you need prayer, please free to call CLN at (334) 603-2305.
