Legacy Christian Athletics A Guide to Legacy Christian Academy Eagle Athletics
2026-2027
WELCOME TO EAGLE ATHLETICS! Eagle Nation, Welcome to another exciting year of Legacy Christian Academy Athletics! Whether your family is new to Legacy or returning for another season, thank you for entrusting us with the opportunity to invest in your student-athlete. At Legacy, athletics is an extension of our mission to develop strong leaders with biblical convictions who are equipped to succeed in college, life, and eternity. We believe competition is a powerful tool for building character, strengthening faith, and preparing students for life beyond the game. Our Athletic Department is centered on Ephesians 6:10–18, where Paul encourages believers to "put on the full armor of God." As coaches, athletes, and families, we are called to stand firm in truth, faith, righteousness, salvation, and the Word of God. While we pursue excellence in competition, our greater goal is to equip our students to face every challenge with courage and an unwavering faith in Christ. Our coaches are committed to developing young men and women who compete with integrity, humility, and purpose. We ask our families to partner with us by encouraging your athletes, supporting our coaches, and helping us foster a Christcentered culture that honors God in every season. This guide is designed to answer common questions and serve as a helpful resource throughout the year. Thank you for being part of Eagle Nation. We look forward to watching our athletes grow - not only in their sport, but also in their faith and character. In Christ, Jayson Lavender Senior Director of Athletics Legacy Christian Academy

Practice schedules will be communicated by each coach at the beginning of the season and updated as needed. Upper School Practices are generally held after school. Coaches will communicate practice schedules, locations, and any adjustments throughout the season. Student-athletes are expected to: Arrive on time and prepared for every tryout and practice. Bring all required equipment, uniforms, and water. Communicate absences or conflicts with their coach as early as possible. Demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and Christ-like sportsmanship in every practice environment.
ATHLETIC ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY Participation in Upper School athletics is a privilege that requires a commitment to academic success. In accordance with TAPPS and Legacy Christian Academy policies, all 9th-12th grade student-athletes must remain academically eligible to participate in competitions.
Eligibility Requirements Upper School student-athletes must maintain a 70% or higher in every class to remain eligible for competition. Academic eligibility is evaluated every six weeks. If a Student Becomes Ineligible A student-athlete earning a 69% or below in any class will: Become ineligible beginning the following Monday Continue attending practices and team activities May not participate in: Games or competitions Pep rallies Team travel Public athletic appearances May not dress out on the sideline during competitions
Regaining Eligibility After becoming ineligible: Grades are rechecked two weeks later (Friday). If the student is passing all classes, eligibility is restored the following Monday. If not, grades are reviewed weekly until all classes are passing.
Additional Expectations Academic ineligibility carries over between sports until eligibility is restored. Student-athletes must be in attendance on game days to compete. Excused absences do not affect game-day eligibility. Please Note: These academic eligibility guidelines apply to Upper School (High School) student-athletes. Middle School eligibility expectations are administered separately by Legacy Christian Academy and the Athletic Department.
LCA BRANDING POLICY Legacy Christian Academy has long maintained standards and guidelines for how the LCA name, logos, and branding are represented. This policy is intended to provide families with a clear and accessible overview of those established expectations so that our school’s identity is represented consistently and with excellence across all platforms and communications. The use of LCA logos, names, and branded materials is protected and requires prior approval before being reproduced or distributed. All merchandise, apparel, and promotional materials must be produced through approved LCA vendors to ensure consistency in quality and branding standards. These guidelines apply to all school-affiliated groups and individuals, including athletic teams, clubs, booster organizations, parents, staff, and outside vendors. The purpose of this policy is to promote consistency, professionalism, and faithful stewardship of the Legacy Christian Academy brand and identity. Please review the full Branding Policy and complete the acknowledgement confirming you have read and understand the guidelines.
COLLEGE RECRUITING & NATIONAL SIGNING DAY Legacy Christian Academy is committed to helping student-athletes pursue opportunities to compete at the collegiate level. Throughout the recruiting process, our Athletics Department provides guidance and resources to help families understand expectations, prepare for communication with college coaches, and navigate NCAA and NAIA pathways. Once a student-athlete makes their collegiate commitment, Legacy is proud to celebrate that achievement through our National Signing Day events. Recruiting Support The Athletics Department provides guidance in the following areas: Recruiting education for student-athletes and families Highlight video recommendations Coach communication and outreach strategies NCAA & NAIA eligibility pathways Recruiting timelines and expectations by sport Because every sport recruits differently, families are encouraged to begin conversations early and work closely with their coach throughout the process. National Signing Day Student-athletes who commit to continuing their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level are recognized through Legacy's National Signing Day celebrations, coordinated by the Athletics and Marketing departments. Signing Day recognition may include: Official signing ceremony Photography and media coverage Recognition on the Legacy Athletics website and social media Student-athletes should notify the Athletics Department as soon as they have officially committed so plans can be made for their recognition. Contact Kahlil McKenzie for more details.
LEGACY SPORTS PERFORMANCE Legacy Sports Performance provides every student-athlete with intentional, comprehensive training designed to improve strength, speed, movement quality, and overall athletic performance. Athlete safety and injury prevention remain our highest priorities, but the weight room is also where confidence is built. Our athletes should leave training believing they can dominate, compete with confidence, and execute everything their coaches ask of them. SPORTS MEDICINE & WEATHER POLICY The health and safety of our student-athletes is a top priority at Legacy Christian Academy. Under the direction of Dr. Matt Blimline, our sports medicine and weather safety procedures work together to promote safe participation, appropriate care, and clear communication throughout every athletic season. Sports Medicine LCA’s athletic trainers support student-athletes through injury evaluations, rehabilitation coordination, and established return-to-play protocols. All injuries, symptoms, or health concerns should be reported promptly to the athletic training staff and the athlete’s coach. Student-athletes may be restricted from practices or competitions until they have completed the appropriate evaluation and received clearance to safely return. Families are encouraged to communicate openly with the athletic training staff throughout the recovery process. Weather Policy LCA Athletics follows established safety procedures when weather conditions may affect practices, competitions, or other athletic activities. This includes protocols for lightning delays, extreme heat or cold, schedule adjustments, and game postponements or cancellations. Decisions are made with student-athlete and spectator safety as the priority. When schedules or locations are affected, updates will be communicated primarily through ParentSquare. Families should monitor ParentSquare before and during athletic events when inclement or extreme weather is possible. Contact Dr. Matt Blimline, for more information.
