Lee Street Theatre provides a comprehensive intern program that focuses on all aspects of theatrical production, allowing each individual to focus on a particular area to enhance their resume.
From marketing to production work and design, Lee Street proudly offers an environment for creativity and growth wherever an intern arrives
in our program.
Lee Street’s 50’ X 50’ Blackbox space, industrial-concept lobby, and newly renovated, intimate Lee Street Lab Performance Space provides a welcoming and creative
environment for opportunities for educational and creative development.
Lee Street’s intern program provides housing and a weekly stipend that give you the opportunity to know what it feels like in a “real-world” scenario for theatre operation and employment, while also providing an environment that allows for bonding and education with fellow interns, staff and the larger community of Lee Street.

Whatever your interest area, Lee Street theatre is a supportive, artistic community theatre that wants you to join us in our artistic vision, our ambitious and exciting endeavors and our friendly and sincere community this summer!
Partnered with the Rowan Public Library, you will create an entertaining kids show that will tour to at least three seperate cities. Working with the Lee Street Artistic Staff, you will be assisted with this projected to help produce it! Our kids in the area love this and it is something the Libraries look forward to every year!
This year will will be producing the Children’s Theatre delight, The Stinky Cheese Man & Other Fairly Stupid Tales July 7 - 22 to area libraries.
Lee Street is proud to partner with our local university, Catawba College, to provide excellent, comfortable living conditions for our interns. A spacious house with three bedrooms and two baths, which we usually house two to a room, gives you the room to stretch out and relax, or take in a movie with your fellow interns after a hard day’s work.
Living Room with Flat Screen TV, Full Kitchen, Washer and Dryer, Sun Room, Porch and plenty of parking, provide a comfortable and convenient housing situation. You can find yourselves sharing meals, lounging in the Sunroom, and playing games with fellow interns on your off-time.
The bedrooms are large enough to give you rest and comfort, but not feel too small when shared. Internet is provided as well as local TV options.

Just an hours drive from Charlotte and the Greensboro and Winston-Salem areas, you’ll find both a quiet countryside filled with wineries and pick-your-own farms, and a bustling downtown district with breweries, historic trolley’s, a thriving arts scene, and more.
In Salisbury, you can enjoy a Pops Concert in the Park one weekend, or an Artwalk, take in a movie, or see a concert. The area is surrounded with lots of free and affordable things to do when you have time off. The North Carolina Transportation Museum is literally 5 minutes from Lee Street Theatre and the area is surrounded with amazing, local restaurants like The Salty Caper, The Smoke Pit, The Sidewalk Deli, Haps and much more!
