Nov. 10: Noon– 12:15 p.m. – Celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday with a traditional cake-cutting ceremony. Cake will be served to everyone. Nov. 18: Noon – 2 p.m. – Children’s Gallery grand opening. It’s a celebration. Come one, come all for a fun filled afternoon of games, entertainment, exhibitors, a puppet show and much more. Nov. 19: 1 – 3 p.m. – History in Your Hands – a program for visitors of all ages who are blind or have low vision. Participants interact with the collections through tactile exploration of selected objects and through verbal description and tactile graphics. There is no fee for this program, but pre-registration is required one week prior to the event. To register for the monthly program, contact Jack Oblein at 703-432-2622 or jack.oblein@usmcu. edu. Admission to the museum and parking are free.

Health & Wellness Fair for APF employees The Human Resources Organization Management (HROM) Office invites all appropriated fund (APF) civilian employees on Marine Corps Base Quantico to attend the 2017 Health and Wellness Fair. Various health care and dental plan vendors will be available to answer questions and provide enrollment information. The Employee Assistance Program will also attend this event and provide helpful and useful resources. The fair will be held at The Clubs at Quantico, ballrooms 3 and 4 on Nov. 16, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) saluted retired service members within the capital area Oct. 13 by providing upto-date resources and information on their benefits, thus keeping them connected to their total force. The event welcomed more than 120

retired and soon-to-be retired military personnel to Barber Physical Activity Center to “invest in their whole self” and encourage retirees to receive resourceful information strengthening their mind, body and spirit. Event organizer and retired Marine Parisa Fetherson, director of Personal and Professional Development Programs (P&PD) said the event was meant to

provide reach back capabilities, preparing retired service members for the next phase of their lives. “Choosing to put on the uniform means something,” Fetherson said. “We don’t want our retired service members to get the impression that their service was forgotten.”
