This “extra edition” of the InsideNoVa/Prince William weekly newspaper was produced for members of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the chamber’s 2205 Business Awards banquet on Feb. 27. In addition to being distributed at the end of that event, this section is being mailed to nearly 1,200 members of the chamber and inserted into the March 6 edition of our newspaper.
Over 140 nominations of local businesses and organizations were submitted this year – with many nominated in more than one category.
Some of these businesses are brand new, while others have been around for decades. Whether they are young or old, they reflect the diversity and vibrancy of the local business community here in Prince William County.

Steve Danziger receives Colgan Award
Steve Danziger, Manassas site executive for BAE Systems and a longtime community leader, received the Charles J. Colgan Visionary Award from the Prince William Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 27.
The award, named in memory of the longtime state senator from the region who passed away in January 2017, recognizes individuals for their service to the business community. It was presented during the chamber’s annual awards dinner at Foxchase Manor.
He graduated from Queens College at the City University of New York in 1978 and earned a master’s degree in physics from Penn State University in 1981. He worked at IBM and Lockheed Martin before becoming director of manufacturing operations for Micron Technologies in 1999 and joining BAE in 2004.
As Manassas Site Executive for BAE since 2013, Danziger has been improving employee morale and providing an extremely safe and secure workplace with focus on IT and facilities infrastructure. He is also responsible for community relations and has served as BAE’s Director of Quality for Space Systems since 2010.
Danziger, who lives in Bristow, has served on numerous boards, committees, commissions and councils, including as chair of the board of UVA Community Health, chair of the Virginia Microelectronics Consortium and advisory board member for the George Mason University Science and Technology Campus.
He is a behind-the-scenes leader, advisor and mentor to many business and political leaders.
“Steve has invested his adult lifetime in working to make our region a better place,” Patrick J. Small, director of economic development for the city of Manassas, wrote in a nomination letter.
“Through his corporate and volunteer efforts he has contributed to improving our environment, our health and wellness, our education systems, and in countless other ways.”
