third of 98 recommendations from an efficiency study have been completed within Stafford County Public Schools, according to an update to the school board this month about the Evergreen Efficiency Study being implemented within the school system. In November 2014, SCPS contracted with Evergreen Solutions LLC to conduct an efficiency study of its operations. SCPS Superintendent Bruce Benson said that the school system is taking the study recommendations very seriously and intends to address them all within a three-year period. The study covered eight areas: division organization and management; instructional services, human resources, financial management, facilities, food services, transportation and technology. The following recommendations were completed, according to SCPS: • a reorganization of the Financial Services Department to bring the Budget and Grants area under the leadership of the Director of Finance and Accounting. • development of an institutionalized budget planning process to reflect strategic plan outcomes and support accountability needs. • development of a STUDY PAGE 13 communication

Herendeen serves as the head site coach for the Stingrays swimming program at the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center while training for this year’s games. He leaves Aug. 26 for a final training camp in Houston before traveling to Brazil, where he will swim in four individual events
