Milde, who represented the Aquia District on the board, made the announcement March 29. It’s not PAUL MILDE the first time he’s vied for the position and gone up against Bob Thomas, the current 28th District delegate. Thomas is just four months into his term and previously served on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors alongside Milde and represented the George Washington District. “As a candidate for the Republican nomination for delegate last year, I believed my competitors were, like me, conservatives,” Milde said in a statement. “In our public statements, appearances and promotional materials, the three of us who sought to carry our party’s banner in November all expressed the conservative principles that Republican voters expect of their leaders.” Republican Susan Stimpson, also a former board member, competed with the two men for the position but Thomas was supported by then-House Speaker Bill Howell. The theme of the budget, he said, is “addressing growth and positioning ourselves for the future.” “The big drivers in addressing growth in this budget are related to education and public safety impacts,” Foley said. “…In total, our education expenses utilize about 57 percent of the growth we’re experiencing in the budget this

year.” Last month, Foley proposed a budget of $301.1 million, or a 13.4 million (4.6 percent) increase from the current budget. The proposed budget includes more money for the schools, including continued local funding for public day schools, support for Gwyneth’s Law and shared services for an annual financial BUDGET
