wo members of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors said goodbye Tuesday as they prepared to enter a new chapter of their lives. Sup e r v i s or s’ Chairman Paul Milde, R-Aquia, and Supervisor Laura Sellers, DGarrisonville, will wrap up their time on the board this month, WILLIAM HOWELL with incoming board members set to take over in January. “We’ve had a good 12 years,” Milde said, referring to his three PAUL MILDE terms served and noting that his service on the board changed him as a person. Supervisors greenlight military healthcare facility TRACY BELL

he Stafford County Board of Supervisors agreed Tuesday to support a proposed family healthcare clinic on Stafford Hospital grounds that would provide outpatient medical care to active-duty military members, veterans and their families. The board voted unanimously on the matter after a joint public hear-
ing with the Stafford County Planning Commission. The six commission members attending spoke in support of the facility and one member was absent. A joint public hearing doesn’t happen often but is allowed by Virginia State Code, according to Jeff Harvey, the county’s director of planning and zoning. Joint public hearings occurred in Stafford in 2013 and in 2009, he said.
The supervisors’ approval amends proffers and allows for a conditional-use permit for the facility; however, further action is contingent on a federal contract that will also require construction to be completed within 10 months and for the facility to be operational within 12 months of the contract award. The clinic would provide convenience for active-duty military members, veterans and their families who now must go out of the county for services. Many who spoke in support of the facility described difficulties in having to travel too far away for medical services and said that the clinic would HEALTHCARE
