Transportation Tops Agenda at McLean Forum

Chamber Leaders Supportive of Some Projects, Less Enamored of Others BRIAN TROMPETER Staff Writer

Getting around Northern Virginia can be tough, so Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce members were all ears – OK, maybe a few questions, too – when

briefed July 13 about efforts to make the region’s transportation network run more smoothly. Guest speaker Rob Jackson, Virginia vice chairman of the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Transportation Planning Board, outlined the lengthy process

Showdown Looming in NVSL Action As so often has been the case for decades, the Chesterbrook Tiger Sharks and Overlee Flying Fish will clash in a final regular-season Northern Virginia Swimming League showdown to determine the Division 1 championship. This year’s meet is at Arlington’s Overlee pool on Saturday at 9 a.m. Each team enters the matchup with a 4-0 record. Chesterbrook is the defending champion, winning last year in McLean by a convincing margin. Overlee won in 2015 at its pool on Lee Highway. Chesterbrook also enters this year’s meet with nine straight victories over two seasons. Overall, Overlee has won 29 Division 1 titles in pool history and Chesterbrook nine, and five others in lower divisions. Find details from the meet at www.insidenova.com/sports/fairfax. In NVSL Division 3 action on July 22, the Langley Wildthings can cap a 5-0 season and outright championship with a home win over second-place Mount Vernon Park (3-1).
