Following failure June 6 to pass a major rezoning application for the town’s Maple Avenue Commercial (MAC) zone,

some Vienna Town Council members are disagreeing over how much development and what kind should be permitted in that business corridor. Pasha Majdi, who joined the Council shortly before it passed the MAC ordi-

nance in fall 2014, said at the Council’s June 13 work session that he was surprised to learn the new zone likely would result in heavily residential mixed-use developments. Majdi, who like other Council members

favors retaining Vienna’s small-town feel, said the MAC zone should be renamed the Maple Avenue Residential Corridor to reflect that reality. He was alarmed by Continued on Page 20
