Starbucks Coffee Co. has received the green light to proceed with its plans to build a drive-through cafe with outdoor seating at 362 Maple Ave., E. The Vienna Board of Zoning Appeals on April 18 voted 5-0 (with two members absent) in favor of conditional-use permits allowing the outdoor seating and drive-through capacity. Originally the site of Donuts of Vienna, the 0.62-acre property since 1997 has been home to a 1,663-squarefoot Taco Bell restaurant with a drivethrough. Starbucks will alter the building’s façade, move the drive-through’s speaker box for ordering 20 feet closer to the building, shift the pick-up window 15 feet closer to the front of the building, install landscaping around the site’s perimeter and add two crosswalks and two bicycle racks. The coffee company also will remove two parking spaces in front of the building and put in outdoor seating for 20 people. In addition, the cafe will have 20 indoor seats. The new Starbucks will feature a drive-through stacking area large enough for 12 vehicles, exceeding the

Suddenly, Dulles Is Hot Again for Passengers After years lagging behind, Washington Dulles International Airport’s growth curve is now consistently surpassing that of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Dulles saw a 6.2-percent year-overyear growth in passengers in February, compared to an essentially flat month for National, according to figures reported
