The Council acted after the Vienna Market rezoning proposal – which would have built 49 townhouse-style condominiums atop 28,000 square feet of retail space and a 105-space underground parking garage at the former Marco Polo Restaurant site near Maple Avenue, W., and Pleasant Street, N.W. – was defeated on June 6, 2016, under unusual circumstances.
