Controversial Brooks Farm Project Is OK’d Supervisors Unanimous in Support for the 19-Home Cluster Subdivision in Great Falls BRIAN TROMPETER Staff Writer

After two years of heated community opposition, the Board of Supervisors on July 26 unanimously approved developer Basheer/Edgemoore-Brook’s plans to

build a 19-house cluster subdivision in north-central Great Falls. “This project always simply has been about a notion of community,” said Greg Riegle, the applicant’s attorney. “From our perspective, that means creating an interesting and attractive place to live and a

place that’s respectful of our neighbors.” The nearly 52-acre Brooks Farm site, located north of Leesburg Pike between Springvale and Walker roads, now is home to two single-family dwellings and an assortment of barns and sheds. Much of the parcel consists of pastureland, along with

a pond and stream. Under the cluster-development plan, 19 residential lots would be arranged in a C-shape, leaving much of the property’s eastern side undeveloped. About 42 perContinued on Page 17
