12th Aviation Battalion gets new commander, CSM By Adrienne Anderson Staff writer The 12th Aviation Battalion held a Change of Command and Change of Responsibility ceremony Friday, at Davison Army Airfield. Lt. Col. Edward Meyers relinquished command to Lt. Col. Brendan Cullinan. Also, Command Sgt. Maj. Robert Hill relinquished his position to Command Sgt. Maj. Bernard Brooks. Cullinan said he was happy to be part of the 12th Aviation Battalion team and looked forward to continuing the mission. “I promise you all that I will not hold you back ... and will work hard to earn your trust,” he told the battalion. Meyers said Cullinan will also be surrounded by those same great people who will help him to advance his vision. Meyers said he reflected over the past two years and how everything came together to culminate into the change of command. It’s thanks to a seasoned and dedicated civilian popu-
lation, battalion Soldiers, and senior leadership that made for a successful two years. Everyone, he said, was dedicated to 12th Aviation Battalion’s mission. “I have been truly surrounded by great people and, as such, these past two years have been awesome,” he said. He also acknowledged his command sergeant major, Hill, who Meyers called a battle buddy and described him as a special leader with the ability to inspire across the entire battalion. Coming into the position as senior enlisted leader of the battalion, Hill said he knew he had a lot to learn, but he had the support of commander and staff who were there to help him. “(They) always found a way to make the mission happen,” Hill said, adding that, regardless of obstacles or limited resources, the unit was resourceful in accomplishing the tasks at hand. Like Meyers, Hill told his replacement, Brooks, he will have the help and support of a highly skilled unit. Leaving it behind, Hill said, “It has been an honor to serve with you.”
