National Army Museum construction continues Garrison Public Affairs The Army Historical Foundation’s, AHFs, private construction of the National Museum of the United States Army facility continues to progress on Fort Belvoir. Clark Construction Group, LLC has completed the museum’s concrete slabs and decking and the last structural steel beam was placed as part of the roof structure above the lobby in November. The museum’s exhibit wing now has a radiant heating/cooling floor and the structural steel support beams have been fireproofed. The signature exterior design elements of stainless steel metal panels and glass curtain wall are being hung. Construction is on schedule and the building’s estimated completion date is April 2019, when the Army will continue installing the exhibits and interior elements. The museum is expected to open to the public in about two years. Through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, Shirley Contracting Company, LLC continues to build the museum’s infrastructure, roads and utilities on the 84–acre site that will support the museum. Liberty Drive has been paved and a service drive and loading docks are being constructed. Work continues at the Fairfax County Parkway for turn lanes and the future traffic light at the museum’s entrance; and utility services infrastructure is progressing. “Creating the National Museum of the United States Army is a massive project with numerous stakeholders who are working together to ensure
