2017 Decal Competition Off and Running! Four finalists have been selected for the 2017-18 Arlington County government’s vehicle decal, having been chosen by a panel of community notables Dec. 3 from among submissions by Arlington high-school students. Arlington residents will be able to vote on their selection via the Arlington County treasurer’s Web site at https://taxes.arlingtonva.us/ (starting Thursday evening). The winning entry will be announced in January, and will begin appearing on 160,000 vehicles registered in Arlington starting next summer. The decal competition dates back 13 years, and this year’s competition drew a record 235 submissions from students at Arlington high schools. See full coverage inside on Page 8.

It should significantly defuse much of the neighborhood’s concern,” Fisette said. The vote came after public testimony, and occurred about five months after some affordablehousing advocates from outside Westover pressed officials to create an historic district to help stem the exodus of moderate-cost apartments in the neighborhood, which straddles Washington Boulevard in western Arlington.
