Arlington leaders and the taxpaying public should have an idea in a few short months about the likely cost of upscale bus shelters along Columbia Pike.

County transportation officials on June 13 published a formal request for proposal, seeking bids to design and construct 20 of the shelters to be placed along the Pike. Responses are due back in mid-July, said Dennis Leach, the county govern-

The foggy weather with some light rain that greeted Arlington competitors for the opening of the 2018 Northern Virginia Swimming League summer season the morning of June 23 didn’t dampen their spirits. Of Arlington’s four NVSL teams,

three began the regular-season campaign with victories, including the Overlee Flying Fish of Division 1 and the Arlington Forest Tigers and Dominion Hills Warriors, each of Division 7. The Warriors won by two points in their home water. The Donaldson Run Thunderbolts of Division 3 fell short in their opener, losing at Hunt Valley in
