He again helped bring additional visitors to an Open House in July and a follow up article was published in this section that month.

King runs for District 18 delegate as Green Party candidate

Will King wants to represent the people of the 18th District, not a party.

The Green Party candidate will challenge Republican incumbent Michael Webert and Democratic challenger Tristan Shields in the November elecWill King tion for a seat in the general assembly.

The retired US Federal Air Marshall and U.S. Navy veteran from Bealeton said that he wants to give constituents from the 18th District a choice.

“After serving my country for 25 years, I wanted to be more involved in my community,” King said. “Being a veteran and a police officer, once you’ve served people it’s hard to stop.”

He decided to run as a Green Party candidate after meeting campaign manager Tim Cotton, but said he’s not beholden to any party.

He agrees with the 10 key values and four pillars of the party, but is his own candidate.

“You get to mold those 10 key values to you,” King said. “The one thing that really attracted me, is that the national and state party have zero influence on how I run my

candidacy. The platform I have that is specifically meant for the 18th District.”

Having a background in public safety, one of his key issues is battling the heroin epidemic by giving more funding to local law enforcement.

“Instead of introducing new legislation, I’ll use the existing legislation to fund county sheriffs and police departments to give them the tools and the manpower to fight drug epidemic,” King said.

Increasing salary will help attract and retain officers and King also stresses that improving their equipment is key in fighting crime.

He has already met with Fauquier County Sheriff Bob Moser and expects to meet with the other sheriffs throughout his campaign.

While Fauquier County is his homebase and he’s already made several connections there, Rappahannock County has welcomed him as well. He said he’s still branching out into Culpeper and Warren counties but said that people are already recognizing him.

“People have had plenty of literature to read about us,” King said.

“We’ve had a lot of people recognize us in the parade. Culpeper is still growing, but it’s happening naturally.”

One issue that connects all Green Party candidates, King said, was their belief in solar power. He describes his philosophy as Green conservative.

“Enacting agricultural, environmental conservation programs with the emphasis on small business and job creation,” King said. “Let’s take solar power, the 18th District does not have its own solar power company. Going into solar, for every one person that works on a solar panel that creates three or four jobs. So just imagine if we can bring something like that in Fauquier County.”

He said that by focusing on the local workforce and bringing new jobs to the district, not as many people will commute an hour north for employment.

King said he wants to protect the environment and put people over profit.

“If you have a strong environmental platform, people are going to vote for you regardless of what party you belong to,” King said. “We oppose all pipelines, all fracking, all coal ash and uranium mining.”

He said fracking could pollute well water and that is a major concern.

“Clean drinking water is not a privilege, it’s a right for everybody,” King said.

Despite having worked in law enforcement for several years, he believes in hemp production and stresses the differences between the plant and its cousin cannabis.

“I’ve talked to local law enforcement and they agree that hemp is not cannabis,” King said. “If you take a 10 acre lot of hemp and decide you’re going to be sneaky and

put in an acre of cannabis, you just destroyed the crop for both. Twenty-five thousand different products, and if you can somehow get a processing plant in the state going, you can have a head start in the rest of the country.”

King said Kentucky is the only other state attempting to open a processing plant and that Virginia could have a head start on the rest of the country.

King said that the current political climate has become toxic and the Green Party act as the “marriage counselors.”

“We’re the rational alternative,” King said. “The big parties are pointing figures at each other. What I represent is a swing vote. I’m there for the people, nobody is going to tell me how to vote.”

King said that in six years Webert has not taken any chances and has voted along party or committee lines 96 percent of the time.

“Look at his record, tell me what stands out,” King said. “It’s nothing personal against him, but when you look at him you look at an established bought and paid for legislator.”

To be successful, King said his strategy is connect with the people.

“People are always going to lean a certain way, when you are able to talk to a person at a ground level and find out what’s important to them, and explain how you’re going to help them, they are more than happy to listen to it,” King said.

Stuck between a rock and a fun place

More than a dozen kids and adults turned out to paint rocks to be placed throughout Culpeper.

CulpeperRocks has grown on Facebook to include more than 6,000 members and families have enjoyed the tradition brought back from Florida by the Altman family.

Culpeper is rocking out.

There isn’t a wild musical festival coming, instead, youth, families and even some adults are enjoying the CulpeperRocks phenomenon.

Started by Teresa Altman and her family, the CulpeperRocks Facebook group has more than 6,000 members and the colorful painted rocks can be found all over Culpeper, and now the world.

The Altman family brought the rock collection hobby home following a trip to Sanford, Fla., in November. While there, they discovered colorful rocks hidden throughout the town and decided

it would be fun to start distributing rocks in their hometown.

“When we were on vacation we spotted a rock and it just spread joy,” Altman, a case manager for adult services at Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services, said.

“My daughters said this is so cool, we should do this in Culpeper.”

They started spreading joy in December, distributing rocks throughout downtown, but it wasn’t until her oldest daughter, Sedona, had her 10th birthday party that the hobby really took off.

Her and her friends had a rock painting party and then they hid them. The colorful rocks started popping up everywhere after Altman started the Culpeper Rocks Facebook page and others quickly followed in her children’s footsteps.

“I really just like the concept of spreading joy,” she said. “Once we knew they were out there the whole family started looking out for them.”

Her husband Luke is a sergeant with the Culpeper Police Department and he would come home and tell his family about businesses seeing the rocks popping up everywhere.

Soon those businesses got into the fun, hosting rock painting parties. At a recent painting party at Crossfit Culpeper, more than a dozen children and adults made elaborate designs and dried the rocks before heading out to hide them.

Once found, the rocks can be collected or redistributed throughout the community.

“It’s not just exciting for the kids, the adults love it too,” Altman said.

“It’s real exciting to know we have created something and made someone’s day.”

She said that some people post their creations before hiding them, but she’s seen several that have just popped up in the community.

Many have intricate designs, with some of the most unique being Disney themed. Others have been dipped in swirled paint, making a marbled effect.

The rocks have migrated as well, with one being placed in the mouth of a lion statue in Norway. Others have been taken and distributed on vacation in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

“A lady found one in New Jersey,” Altman said. “We’ve had several people from Fauquier, Orange, Madison and Front Royal all get involved.”

Her family recently took a large batch of rocks on their vacation to North Carolina so their relatives could paint and hide the rocks as well.

“We love it,” Altman said. “My husband even gets excited about it. My kids just like painting and hiding them. They get on Facebook with me and look at all the creations.”

The Altmans have a 9-year-old daughter as well and are expecting their third girl in September. She’ll likely have plenty of rocks to paint

as well.

“We’ve painted hundreds of rocks,” she said with a laugh.

Several businesses have started selling rocks for painting, including A.B. Kearns in Brandy Station and Elkwood Stone and Mulch.

Elkwood Stone and Mulch have donated rocks for a July 22 event and the Culpeper Town Police will host a Rock with Cops event.

Altman said she’s enjoying the enthusiasm the community is showing and hopes it continues.

“I think it will probably level out a little bit, but I like seeing everyone putting their designs out there and sharing them,” Altman said. “I just think it’s exciting to find them.”

Glen Allen did the unthinkable.

Out of field of eight teams, the Richmond-based team defeated its area neighbor Rockville, to win the 2017 8-year Old Rookie Baseball State Tournament.

After a dogfight during the first four and a half innings, where it appeared Rockville held a slight edge leading by a margin of one run, Glen Allen struck back by taking the lead on a Connor Slaski RBI single that scored Garrett Crabbe that eventually gave them a 4-3 win to force a second game.

From the first day of the tournament, adversity and the unmistakable ability to remain poised proved to be no strangers Glen Allen.

After narrowly losing to Summit Point (7-6), Glen Allen bravely fought back to escape the fate of double elimination.

“I thought it was fabulous for eight-year old boys to lose and come back the we did,” Glen Allen Manager Sean Connor said.

“We came back to win three games in one day and return to win two more - it was spectacular.”

With one run separating the two teams, Glen Allen narrowly out-hit Rockville..

However, although game two was not a blowout, the Glen Allen dominated Rockville with a 5-0 shutout to win the coveted title.

Defense and timely Glen Allen hitting forced Rockville to a hole, trailing 2-0 after two innings. In the bottom of the third inning, Glen Allen extended their lead to 4-0 courtesy of RBIs from Steele Smith (triple) and Chase Hannett (single).

Glen Allen completed the shutout in the bottom of the 5th inning, after another Smith RBI (single) that scored Connor Slaski.

“The heart, the way they kept their heads up, everybody contributed, and it wasn’t one kid to do a lot of things,” Connor added. “Everybody stepped up and they all played well today.”

Glen Allen’s path to the state championship included victories over Arlington (District 3), New Kent (District 1), Summit Point (District 9), and Rockville (District 5).

“It will be an opportunity for the boys to see what that level looks like,” Connor said. “We will find out what we need to do differently, what we need to grow, and how we need to build. We can play small ball, big ball, and score a lot of runs, if we need too.”

As for the host Rappahannock team, they lost 23-1 during opening day against Rockville. Rappahannock’s lone run took place in the bottom of third inning after Leeland Pentecost’s single scored Jason Streagle from third base. Rockville scored in every inning, including a grand slam home-run from Collin Felts in the top of the 4th inning.

Rappahannock was eliminated from the tournament after losing to Stafford, 15-4.

The experience of playing against talent from across the state will forever be embedded in minds of Rappahannock. Rappahannock head coach, Michael Wharton believes the experience will make his players stronger. “Overall I think they are handling it pretty well - they just enjoy playing the game of baseball,” he said.

The historic doubleheader win at Stuart Field, took place on the final day of the four day tournament (July 6-9). The championship is sanctioned by Babe Ruth Baseball, and Cal Ripken Baseball. The Rookie Tournament is the first time that the Rappahannock Athletic Association / Rappahannock Culpeper Baseball has ever hosted the event.

HOME & GARDEN Eight tips for your lawn to-do list Ah, the dog days of summer.

Having just celebrated America's 241st birthday. Planning holidays with kids.

Enjoying family reunions, cookouts, swimming, fishing, boating and hanging out with friends on the patios and decks in the evening thank goodness our landscape does not need a whole lot right now.

Short of watering your plantings as they need it and keeping those pesky summer bugs and fungus at bay there is not a lot of other help we can give the flowers beds and lawn this time of year so I thought it would be a good time to look forward to Late August Early September and start filling in our garden planners.

I know September seems like a long ways off but it's never to early to plan ahead and September will be

Here are eight things to considered adding to your to-do list or contacting a pro and get on their schedule for the last week of August and into the first few weeks of September.

First : Aeration: aerating is to alleviate soil compaction, it involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water and nutrients to penetrate deeper into the soil strengthening root growth and producing a stronger more vigorous lawn.

Second: Seeding Most of the lawns in our area are Fescue and or bluegrass. Fescue does not re seed itself so over seeding on an annual basses will help to ensure new grass is taking the place of old with each new season.

Third: Fertilizing: Fertilize your lawn properly, and you'll be on your way to a healthy, dense strand of turf that maintains a deep green color and gives weeds a run for their money. The most effective way to ensure proper fertilization is to get a soil test. Yes I know you have all heard me say this

at least 10 times and you will probably hear me say it another 10. A firefighter will not show up to a house fire with a garden hose and think he's going to make a difference so be sure you're bringing the right tool for the job. A day or two before you apply fertilizer water your lawn thoroughly, after the grass dries apply fertilizer. Follow up your fertilization with watering your lawn again this will wash the fertilizer off the grass blades and into the soil, this will also help to maximize the effect of the fertilizer you just spent your hard earned money on.

Fourth: Inspect your lawn and Landscape for insects or areas where debris has piled up during the year that insects or insect eggs may be able to use as refuge to over winter.

Remove the insects and debris piles.

Spray with Insecticide if needed.

Fifth: Remove Weeds: Many annual weeds are getting ready to drop seed this time of year. digging them out or treating them with Herbicide to kill them is important if you don't want to be battling their offspring all next year.

Sixth: Check your mulch, make sure you have at least 3" of good mulch covering your plantings if you find your beds are short and you need

more mulch to protect your plantings from the cold winter months wait until the last leaves fall from the maples and then install that new mulch this will help to keep it clean longer and maples loosing their leaf's fairly early are a great time marker for landscapers. Fresh mulch is an important aspect to maintaining healthy plants. It is used to retain moisture in the soil, suppress weeds, keep the soil cool and make the garden bed look more attractive.

Seventh: Irrigation Winterization remove water from the pipes, valves and sprinkler heads, this is important before freezing occurs. By winterizing your are protecting your irrigation investment and potentially serious damage to the wallet.

Eighth: Trimming/Pruning: Check your landscape and prune according to the plantings and their needs in your garden. Think about snow loads and damaged branching this time of year.

Breaking down the vertebrae If you’ve seen a skeleton, you know that the spine looks like a long chain of similar-looking bones. Each individual bone is called a vertebra (VERta-bra); the plural is vertebrae (VER-ta-bray).

A vertebra has three parts: the large, round, canister-shaped part, which bears most of the weight, is known as the centrum; behind the centrum is the vertebral (ver-TEE-bral) arch or dorsal arch, which protects the spinal cord and the nerves within the circle created. It also has two (right and left) oblong outcroppings or processes covered by a white glistening surface which make up one half of the joints (facet joints) that connect each vertebra to another; finally, the pointed midline outgrowth of this arch is the spinous process, or spine of the vertebra.

If you run your finger down the middle of someone’s neck or back, you can usually feel the tips of these spinous processes, and if the person is quite thin, you can actually see the tips as well. Each vertebra is separated from the one above and below by an intervertebral (inter-ver-TEE-bral) disc and circumferentia ligaments holding them all together.

Great things happening in Culpeper

I am proud to be serving on our Culpeper County Board of Supervisors.

We are striving to generate programs and improvements that will add countless value to our community. I am proud to see our Town and County elected officials working together to provide much needed amenities to our citizens. I would like to summarize a few exciting improvements that are taking place: Several of our County Board members are working on options and concepts to present to our full Board for a Culpeper YMCA/Community Center. I assure you we are very active in the preliminary planning stage.

Our County Parks & Rec has facilitated new programs and amenities including providing Open Gym, a Summer Youth BBall Clinic, and placing new fiberglass baskets at Sycamore.

center, the nucleus pulposus (NEWklee-us pul-PO-sus), surrounded by a dense ring of fibrous cartilage material called the annulus fibrosis (AN-ew-lus fie-BRO-sis)—annulus meaning “ring” in Latin and fibrosis meaning many fibers.

This intervertebral disc is formed in such a way that forces placed upon it are dissipated throughout the disc space by the central nucleus pulposus, allowing flexibility of the spine and equal distribution of forces. A simplified way to think of it is by comparing the disc to a golf ball—a really old one, not the kind made today.

The combination of rubber bands and super-ball core carried any force from outside the golf ball to its center where it is reversed sending the force back from whence it came. When a golfer teed off for a drive, the force of his striking the ball traveled to the bands and eventually to the jelly core, making the ball spring off the club head and fly forward. I believe the semi-gelatinous intervertebral disc, with its surrounding fibrous material, reacts to outside forces in a very similar way—a marvelous mechanical wonder. You could say, by compressing this type of golf ball down to a pancake shape, the white covering of a golf ball represents ligaments around the disc, the rubber bands represent the annulus fibrosis, and the super-ball is the nucleus pulposus.

But what would happen to the golf ball if the super-ball core dried up? The force of the club hitting the golf ball would not be distributed equally, right? at the Community Complex. Town Council, staff, and the Town Parks and Recreation Commission should be commended on several projects they have undertaken. They have solidified the Lake Pelham Adventures Park which is now a new Town park with paddle boat rentals, canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. They partnered with The Ole Country Store to secure the public park and also received monetary and in-kind donations from MD Russell Construction, Inc., ATCS, Culpeper Wood Preservers, and Life Point Church to make this a reality. Thank You! The Town is working on the Waugh Property which will also be a Park with trails, an amphitheater, splashdown water park, disc golf, and I hope a couple tennis courts. The Town and Commission also refurbished the BBall courts at Yowell Meadow Park - along

The ball wouldn’t go far, and hitting it time and again would cause the rubber bands to break under the stress.

These old golf balls did become ineffective over time because the center would dry up and the rubber bands would eventually fragment and break.

I believe something very much like this happens in our bodies, probably as early as age 20. For some reason, the “superball core” of our intervertebral discs dries up; water is absorbed from the gelatinous center. No one knows why, but this type of phenomenon occurs in many other areas of the body as you will see.

When it happens, the surrounding fibers, the annulus fibrosis, bear the brunt of forces placed on the spine in the course of a day. Doing a job they weren’t designed for, these fibrous rings fragment over time, breaking into small pieces like chunks of crab meat.

These fragments can’t distribute the forces from outside, and those forces eventually get the upper hand, pushing the fragments around. In turn, the fragments press repeatedly against ligaments, and the ligaments give and stretch, bulging outward at the weakest point, usually on the right or the left of the back side or posterior aspect of the disc space.

Like any bodily tissue that’s stretched—such as gas-filled intestines or a fluid full urinary bladder—a stretched ligament causes pain that may be referred to nearby muscles. In the case of a bulging cervical disc, it’s the trapezius muscles we discussed above.

They partnered with Lake View of Culpeper Homeowners Association to construct a new connector trail from Yowell Meadow Park to Lake Pelham. The trail will be paved shortly. According to HOA President Peter Revutin, they are working on other infrastructure improvement initiatives as well.

Our George Washington Carver School Vocational Education initiative will open soon. Our Board is proud to facilitate this workforce training project, as well as our Culpeper Youth Leadership Program. Great things are happening in Culpeper! We also have very strong Economic Development savvy and strategy being generated at this very moment which I believe will lead to new businesses, expansions, and jobs for Culpeper. Reconnecting cattle and quail

Prior to World War II, our cattle grazed upon pastures of native grasses with scattered wildflowers and brush. These pastures, combined with the way we managed the rest of the land, helped harbor scores of wildlife species, including the beloved (but now rare) bobwhite quail.

While quail have struggled, the cattle farms are now facing challenges. Our summers seem to be getting hotter and drier, feed costs are increasing, and an endophyte found in fescue is affecting herd health. Operations that rely only on common cool season forages such as fescue and orchardgrass may find it increasingly difficult to stay above the bottom line.

The NRCS’s Working Lands for Wildlife program offers assistance for conserving wildlife on agricultural lands to create a win-win for the producer and the critters. Virginia Forage and Grassland Council, is partnering with NRCS, the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, Virginia Cooperative Extension, the UT Center for Native Grasslands Management, and the Lake Country Chapter

of Quail Forever to host a series of talks and pasture walks with Dr. Keyser. Each event will begin with a 5:30 p.m. dinner, followed by a presentation from Dr. Keyser.

Cool down with fruity summer drinks

The summer sun is shining brightly and it's time to lighten up and cool down in the adult beverage department.

When the dynamic duo, heat and humidity, roll into town you might want to consider a cool refreshing wine based summer cocktail to get you through the hot and hazy days.

While doing some serious "research and development" for some new wine cocktails, I came across a few that will make July and August in Virginia just a bit more tolerable. All of the recipes are easy to make with minimal ingredients and very little time in the kitchen. If you would like to learn more and taste some of these creations, stop by Vinosity for Mixology Basics this Friday night. Cheers!

Rosé Tequila Sangria This super fresh cocktail is at the top of my go-to list this summer and great for entertaining.

1 750 ml bottle dry Rosé, chilled 1 cup silver Tequila 2/3 cup simple syrup or to taste 1 cup fresh squeezed lime juice 1 ounce Wild Roots Apothecary Elderberry Lavender Botanical syrup Splash of Spiked Lime Seltzer Water 2 cups fresh blueberries and peaches or any seasonal fruit Combine rose, tequila, simple syrup, lime juice, Elderberry Lavender syrup and fruit in a large glass pitcher, refrigerate until chilled. Pour over ice into a large wine glass, top with a splash of lime seltzer water.

Combine vermouth and Campari in an ice-filled rocks glass. Top with sparkling wine, stir and garnish with a twist of blood orange.

Cider Royal If you enjoy hard cider all by itself, then this may be your new favorite cocktail for Sunday Brunch. The Virginia hard cider industry is booming and Foggy Ridge Cider is perfect for this Cider Royal.

1 bottle Foggy Ridge Stayman Winesap Cider 1/2 ounce Strawberry Shrub Strawberries Fresh Mint Chill Champagne flutes in the freezer for 15 minutes. Add fresh or frozen strawberries, add Strawberry Shrub and fill glass with Hard Cider.

Garnish with fresh mint.

White Port and Elderflower Tonic When the thermometer approaches triple digits, it's time to chill out and keep it simple. This cocktail employs white port which is crisp and refreshing.

2 ounces white port 1/2 ounce Jack Rudy Elderflower 6 ounces sparkling water Garnish of seasonal fruit Combine all ingredients and serve in a tall glass over ice. Garnish with seasonal fruit.

SWEET SPOT: For Culpeper’s sweet tooth fanatics and chocoholics, the Frenchman’s Corner is a known commodity.

Added to that is the expertise of owner Marc Ast who has brought his French connection to Culpeper.

Born in Paris, France, Ast chuckles that his “frenchness” sometimes haunts him. He is aristocratic in his mannerisms and very selective about his tastes in the finer things in life. He doesn’t apologize for his attitude. “I don’t relate to low quality products,” he says.

Perhaps it’s just that attitude that has garnered The Frenchman’s Corner the recent distinction of being the Number One Destination on Trip Advisor and the Number One in sales nationwide as an independent distributor of Neuhaus chocolates.

Ast banked nearly 15 years ago that Culpeper had the clientele and taste buds for the quality of sweet things that he was bringing to the downtown area. Sales and loyal customers have proved him correct.

Recent decorative additions inside the store are an elegant new look of red and black. And there are more sweet treats including a waffle and coffee cafe that Ast introduced last year. Martin Ferguson Brooks, 93, of Gainesville, Virginia, passed on June 29, 2017, at his residence after a long illness.

He was born in Steelton, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1923. He was one of four children born to the late Nelson and Verinda Ferguson Brooks. He was married for more than 50 years to fellow physicist, and Howard University alumni, Pauline Piper Brooks. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics from Howard University. He was a member of Sigma Pi (Physics Honor Society) and Beta Kappa Ki (Scientific Honor Society). He was a research physicist and GS-16 super grade in the Defense Logistics Agency for 30 years. Upon his retirement, he received a Distinguished Career Award. In 1974, he received an Achievement Award from President Gerald Ford. He served in the military with Army Logistics Division.

Martin is survived by his wife, Pauline Piper Brooks and a host of family and friends.

Family received friends on Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 3pm until 4pm, funeral services was at Mt. Morris Baptist Church, 5342 Leeds Manor Road, Hume, Virginia, 22639.

Dr. Lindsay O. Green, will deliver the eulogy.

Interment will be in announced at a later date.

Dallas McFarland Dallas McFarland, 83, of Chantilly died Saturday July 8, 2017 at Novant Prince William Hospital.

He was born May 4, 1934 in Lignum to the late Clarence McFarland and Minnie Fox McFarland.

He was a member of Broad Run Baptist Church, was an avid Nascar fan and loved trucks of all shapes and sizes. He was the proud founder of McFarland Trucking Company.

He is survived by a son Douglas Wayne McFarland and his wife Barbara of Catlett; a daughter Donna Sisk and her husband Gary of Warrenton; a sister Margaret Ann Gore and her husband Ray of Culpeper ; and a brother James H. McFarland also of Culpeper. three grandchildren Dallas Wade McFarland, Amanda Rose McFarland and Natalie Ann McFarland in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and dearest loved ones.

In addition to his wife Margaret Lillard McFarland, he is preceded in death by three brothers Ernest McFarland, Richard McFarland, and John Henry McFarland; and two sisters Emma Stanley and Clara Settle.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday July 13, 2017 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701 at 2pm with Rev. Henry Stanley officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Internment will follow at Bethsaida United Methodist Church Cemetery in Brightwood.

Rebecca Elizabeth Gore (Becky), 91, went to join her Savior and deceased loved ones on Tuesday, July 4, 2017.

She was born October 3, 1925 in Culpeper, VA to Carrie Brown Cook and Fenton Broom Cook.

Becky was married to Richard Franklin Gore (Duck) of Estes, VA in 1942. They celebrated 50 years together before Duck´s death. Becky is survived by her daughter, Ellen Gore of Castleton, VA and her son, Rick Gore and his wife Deborah of Manassas, VA. Her granddaughters, who were the light of her senior years, Janel Armitage and her husband Wayne of Turkey and Kentucky; Margot Gore and Marisa Gore of Manassas, VA. In addition to her parents and husband, Becky is preceded in death by her siblings.

Becky´s numerous friends were invited to say good-bye at the visitation on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA 22701.

A funeral service was held Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel.Burial will be held Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 U.S. Avenue, Culpeper, VA 22701.In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Castleton Volunteer Fire Department, 593 Castleton View Road, Castleton, VA 22716.
