Fallon to serve a year in prison

ormer Stafford County School Board member Emily Fallon was ordered Tuesday to serve a year in prison for stealing from a local school’s parent-teacher-organization, which she once led. Fallon, 41, was sentenced in Stafford County Circuit Court to 30 years in prison, with all but one year EMILY FALLON suspended. Judge Michael Levy gave Fallon double the maximum six months recommended by state sentencing guidelines. Fallon entered guilty pleas to three counts of obtaining money by false pretenses and three counts of embezzlement. Each of the six individual charges imposed five-year sentences, with all but two months suspended apiece. She was convicted in July on the charges, which stem from allegations against her from June 2013 through June 2015 when she was the president of Anne E. Moncure Elementary School’s PTO. The PTO is a nonprofit of parents supporting teachers and students at the school. Fallon served as the PTO president prior to running for the Stafford County School Board. tafford County School Board member Nanette Kidby is signing off and heading west. Kidby, who represents the Garrisonville District on the school board, announced Tuesday that she will leave the school board at the end of November. Kidby said that she and her husband are downsizing and moving out West, now that their children are grown. The Kidbys have lived in Stafford
for 25 years. “This was not an easy decision for my husband and I,” she said with sadness. “…It’s been an honor, an absolute honor to serve NANETTE KIDBY the residents of the Garrisonville District since 2005.” Kidby is a retired mathematics teacher and a former Stafford County supervisor, in addition to her time served on the local school board.
Kidby said that over the years she’s watched Stafford County grow and develop. “We’re a thriving community,” she said. “Stafford County Public Schools is thriving.” Kidby said that she is extremely proud of the school system and what it’s become, particularly under Superintendent Bruce Benson’s leadership.
