amie Decatur will run for the GriffisWidewater seat on the Stafford County School Board in the Nov. 8 election, according to a press release from Decatur. Decatur is a longtime Stafford resident, having graduated from North Stafford High School in 2004. She also holds a degree in psychology from California Coast JAMIE DECATUR University. Decatur noted her “substantial expertise in educational and financial administration.” She served as the regional director at Gateway Counseling Center and oversaw the operation of three private day schools. “As someone with experience in working hands-on with the students of our community, as well as their families, Stafford County teachers, and staff members, it is my honor to run for a position in which I will be able to take my experience and use it on a larger scale to promote the highest degree of excellence for each and every one of us,” she said in the release. Decatur has worked with Structures Youth Home, a group home for at-risk teenagers in Stafford. Decatur said that her broad experience managing schools and her understanding of at-risk students qualify her to serve the school district and Stafford County. She and her husband, Jason Decatur, are parents to a 17-month-old son.
