Page 1

Using objects like vintage magazines, album covers, paperback books, etc., William Counter reexamines Pop Art through a socially generated context. Paintings are poetically arranged offering the viewer a personal experience and interpretation based on past and present cultural associations. .The artist is personally interested in representing what he terms ‘contradictions and coincidence.’ William Counter is based on his family farm outside of Chapman, Kansas, and a graduate of Painting-Printmaking from KCAI in 1999.
