Further Mathematics

The skills gained from studying a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) subject at A level (or degree level) are in demand by employers. Graduates from STEM subjects earn on average 5% to 10% more than those who studied other courses.

A level Further Mathematics introduces you to new topics such as matrices and complex numbers that are vital in many STEM degrees. Further Mathematics is a challenging and rewarding subject, which deepens your knowledge and understanding beyond the standard Mathematics A level.

As well as learning new areas of mathematics, you will study further applications of it in pure and decision mathematics.

Progression routes A level Further Mathematics is highly regarded by universities. If you’re planning a degree in areas such as engineering, science, computing, finance, economics or mathematics, you will benefit enormously. Many university engineering and mathematics courses list A level Further Mathematics as ‘essential’ or ‘desirable’.
