Welcome to Leeds Center for the Arts! Welcome back to Leeds Center for the Arts! We are delighted to have you here for our production of Newsies JR. You are in for an amazing experience as these young people take you on a journey through the lives of newsies in 1890’s New York. Our young artists beautifully tell this inspiring story of courage in the face of adversity. The newsies’ fight against injustice led to the eventual passage of child labor laws protecting thousands of children from being exploited in the name of profit. Perhaps the most important message we can all take away is the fact that family isn’t always related by blood and the only way to move forward is together. These young people are extraordinary, both in their talents and their humanity. It has been such a pleasure to create with them. At Leeds, our fondest wish is for young people to walk away believing in themselves and understanding that the stories we are telling can be transformative for our patrons, our casts, and our community. As an organization, we continue to strive to engage and inspire through passion and collaboration to bring great art to Clark County and the region. You have already done your part by joining us on this magical journey, and hope you will continue to play a role as an audience member, donor, or sponsor in 2022 and beyond!
