YLD Spotlight
YLD offers numerous opportunities and resources
by katherine e. camadeco, esq.
HAPPY APRIL! I can’t believe we are already one quarter through 2022. This year sure is flying by. In March, The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors was in Cape Coral for their monthly meeting. We are fortunate to have two local attorneys serving on the Board of Governors – Kayla Richmond of Henderson Franklin Starnes & Holt and Tiffany Pereira of The Pereira Law Firm. Both Kayla and Tiffany served as Past Presidents of the Lee County Bar Association Divisions Young Lawyers and are active members of the Lee County Bar Association.
I thought this would be a great time to reintroduce The Young Lawyers Division – both The Florida Bar and The Lee County Bar.
All lawyers under 36 and new Florida Bar members for the first five years in good standing are automatically members of The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division. The purpose is to assist The Florida Bar in its purpose and mission to engage in activities that tend to further the best interests of the legal profession. As an organization, The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division offers continuing legal education opportunities, initiatives for pro bono and community service, initiatives for health and wellness, initiatives for inclusiveness and equality and they offer guides to issues that are important to young lawyers, including parental leave and social media usage. If you have not already, I would encourage you to visit The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division website at https://flayld.org/. There you will find a wide selection of resources.
For the LCBA YLD, our members are all Lee County Bar Members under 36 and new members for the first five years of practice in good standing. However, we always love to welcome vintage attorneys to our events. Our purpose, much like The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, is to assist the Lee County Bar Association in its purpose and mission and engage in activities to further the best interests of the legal profession with a focus on young lawyers and their unique needs. Please be on the lookout for our upcoming lunch and learns. And come join us, as we partner with the Lee County Bar Association to kick-off Law Week at Law In The Mall, a great opportunity to serve our local community by providing pro bono services on Saturday, April 30th from 10:00 a.m. – noon.
