A chamber music recital for clarinet, viola and piano. Some of the greatest composers were inspired to write works for this combination, the first of which was W. A. Mozart. His extremely dense and serene Trio in E flat major, largely eschews virtuosity in favour of exploiting the natural lyrical qualities of the clarinet and viola. Fr. Liszt’s nostalgic Romance oubliée, J. Brahms’s monumental Sonata in F minor for clarinet and piano, composed for the legendary clarinetist Richard Mühlfeld, as well as four petite piano masterpieces by Fr. Chopin complete the recital.
