Filing someone else’s W-4 form or filling out sections that don't apply, accepting altered forms, and failing to remind employees to update their W-4 by December 1st are illegal actions for employers. Additionally, providing inappropriate guidance on W-4 entries is discouraged, with employers advised to direct employees to IRS tools and instructions to avoid conflicts.
