LECOM Health Announces Grand Opening of the Rural Health Clinic of Wattsburg LECOM Health held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 8 for the new Rural Health Clinic of Wattsburg, located at 9040 Wattsburg Road in Greene Township. The Wattsburg practice is LECOM Health’s fourth rural health clinic designed to improve access to primary care services in nonurbanized areas. New patients are being accepted, and appointments can be scheduled by calling 814-737-0833.

LECOM Erie Sachsenmeier and Chapel Publish Manuscript Congratulations to co-authors Ph.D. student Caitlin Sachsenmeier and D.P.M. student Debilea Chapel, for having their manuscript, “The Path Less Traveled: Variation in Popliteal Artery Branching,” recently accepted for publication in Anatomy and Cell Biology.

Sachsenmeier and Klein Publish Manuscript “Three Headed Biceps Brachii Muscle: Potential Site of Proximal Median Nerve Entrapment” was recently accepted for publication in Cureus.

Co-authors are Caitlin Sachsenmeier, Ph.D., and Faith Klein, Ph.D., students of the Doctoral Program in Anatomy Education.

Parking Lot Safety Tips It is important to be cautious and aware of your surroundings when walking to and from your vehicle, particularly when walking after dark or by yourself.

Carry your vehicle key fob in your hand with your finger on the alarm button to activate your car horn if someone is making you feel uncomfortable. Do not wait for the person to get close to you.

If you see cameras on buildings or poles, park your vehicle near them.

Bootcamp Takes Place at Erie Campus Over 150 students chose to get a head start on their medical school journey by attending bootcamp at LECOM’s Erie campus, where they learned key points that will help them thrive during their first year.

2nd Annual Welcome Picnic Takes Place for MMS Class of 2025 On July 10, the 2nd Annual Welcome Picnic was held for the Master of Medical Sciences (MMS) Class of 2025 at Summerfield Community Park in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. Incoming MMS students interacted with faculty, staff and former students who have successfully matriculated into LECOM’s medical and dental programs.

Registration Day Takes Place at LECOM at Seton Hill

LECOM Elmira Students and Faculty Step Up to Keep River Sharks on the Ice LECOM at Elmira students and faculty stepped up to provide top-notch medical care and keep Chemung County’s beloved professional hockey team, the Elmira River Sharks, on the ice this hockey season.

LECOM at Seton Hill had a successful Registration Day on July 26. The day started with a welcome, introduction, and student policies and procedures. Students then enjoyed a few presentations before heading outside for lunch in the sunshine. Also featured was a vendor fair with various local businesses handing out information and free merchandise, and hosting games. The day concluded with more presentations and advisor meetings.

LECOM Behavioral Health Congratulations to the ACLH Employee of the Month Congratulations to Mackenzee Robertson, who works in Family Based Mental Health, on being named the July Employee of the Month for the Achievement Center of LECOM Health! Some highlights from her nomination include: “Makenzee has built great relationships with schools and other providers in the Warren area.”

The Achievement Center of LECOM Health is once again partnering with Sarah Reed Children’s Center to bring back the indoor trick-or-treating event for all children 12 years and younger at the Millcreek Mall. Millcreek Community Hospital LECOM Health Joins Forces with UPMC, AHN, and Erie County Community College In a partnership championed by Erie County Executive Brenton Davis, LECOM Health, UPMC, AHN, and Erie County Community College joined forces to address the most urgent workforce needs in the healthcare sector and unveiled the architectural renderings of the future allied nursing healthcare lab at EC3.

The collaboration involves providing instruction, scholarship funds, equipment, and eventually jobs to those who complete the program.

Millcreek Community Hospital Hosts General MCH Staff Meeting

MAE Returns to In-Person Provider Meetings On July 24, providers met in person at the Medical Associates of Erie Bayfront office to hear the latest updates across the health system. The next one will take place in September.

LECOM Health Orthopedic Surgeon Joshua Tuck, D.O., recently threw out the first pitch at a Cleveland Guardians game.

Corry Memorial Hospital CMH Awarded Funds to Begin Psychiatry Residency Program Clinical Practices Corry Memorial Hospital recently received a Receive High three-year, $750,000 grant through Health Praiseand Services Administration Resources (HRSA) for a new rural track residency program in psychiatry.

The program will benefit those living in rural Erie, Warren, and Crawford Counties in Pennsylvania and Chautauqua “Lexi and Selina were County in New York by providing very sweet and had a increased access to psychiatric lot of respect. Made care. me feel like I was loved.” - John B.

Parkside at Corry Hosts 3rd Annual Ice Cream Social Parkside at Corry recently hosted its 3rd Annual Ice Cream Social, not only welcoming residents, but staff from Corry Memorial Hospital as well.

LECOM Students Organize Regency Senior Olympics as Part of Bridging the Gap Program LECOM students Austin Pense and Jenna Sins recently organized the Regency Senior Olympics, a two-day event featuring mental and physical challenges intended to enhance the comprehensive well-being of the mind, body, and spirit.

Erie Zoo Visits Parkside at North East Residents Parkside at North East residents recently enjoyed a visit from the Erie Zoo. The residents specifically enjoyed getting to interact with a rabbit, chinchilla, and alligator.

Senior Living Center Hosts Summer Dinner for Residents and their Families

The LECOM Senior Living Center recently hosted a summer dinner in the café for residents and their families. This event, part of their “summer series,” allowed residents to enjoy a meal and quality time with loved ones.

19th Annual Wings of Hope Butterfly Release Takes Place at Parkside Regency at South Shore Hundreds of people gathered to honor their loved ones at Parkside Regency at South Shore on Aug. 3, for the 19th Annual Wings of Hope Butterfly Release. The event began with beautiful music and messages, followed by a heartfelt reading of names, and concluded outside with the release of butterflies.
