Kid CudiMan On the Moon, Vol. II

The brand Stray Rats was founded by Julian Consuegra in the year 2010. They are a clothing brand that initially started in Miami, Florida, and has since expanded, both distancewise and in popularity. There have been several collaborations between Stray Rats and other brands. Some that stand out are their collabs with New Balance, who are mainly known for their shoes. 3 of these collabs are the New Balance 574 Stray Rats Red, the New Balance
990v3 Stray Rats
Reprise Joker Grey (2019), and the New Balance
990v3 Stray Rats
Reprise Finale The Joker (2019).

The 574’s include some red, pink, green, and white, primarily covered in suede with some nylon, a leather “N” logo, and a woven Stray Rats logo on the back.
The Reprise Joker Greys have a lovely contrast between grey, purple and black, mainly covered in suede.
The last one on the list is a bit of a darker shoe similar to the Joker Greys, but it replaces the grey with black and is covered mainly in suede as well.

The infamous DMV steppas are always in collaboration with brands. They do not stay in their own lane. This proves that the New Balance is versatile and that they are a brand that likes to expand. Stray Rats is allowed to use iconic silhouettes such as the 990 and 574 to show off to the world. The shoes’ flamboyancy will always have heads turning, and that will not be stopping anytime soon.

FRANKOCHOA:Heyguys,hopey’allaredoing
well! To start off, we wanted to know if when growingupinNOVA,didyouseemuchvintage influenceallaroundyou?
Fabricio – Not really, growing up with hispanic parents, we would go into the thrift store and buy old toys, or i’d hide under the racks. That was the only source of vintage for me. Other than that, I would be in the mall buying $5 tees and there was nothing unique about them. Werethepeopleyouwerehangingwithignite yourloveforthevintagecultureorclothingin general?
Chris- I didn’t think much of vintage back then, and I didn’t think there was a market for it at all. Fabricio’s little brother started getting him hip so then Fabricio passed it onto me. I realized each piece had a story which made vintage real unique. That’s what I liked; it was something different.
AtfirstwasForbiiiddenjustforthe vintagesceneorwasitmorethan that?
Fabricio- At first, we wanted to branch out; We started with shoes but then we thought about producing merchandise. We also wanted to get into YouTube, but it didn’t work out, we never know what will happen in the future though. Merchandise will definitely make a come back soon now that Forbiiidden has more of a name.
There was a time when Forbiiidden didnothavethefollowingitcurrently hasnow.Didyouevergetscaredor worried that it would not reach the heightsithasreachednow?
Fabricio- No, not at all. In time, if you put in the hard work and you put your whole heart into something that you truly want, you can achieve it. There have been moments where we have been really disappointed though.

Whenyouguysfirstenvisioned Forbiiidden,didyouthinkyouweregoing tohavethegroupthat’saroundyoutwoin this room?
JONMONTOYA:Isiteverintimidating foryoutwohavingtohandleallthe eventsthatarebeingorganized?
Chris- I mean, Fabricio and I have spoken about this when we first started, our main goal was to open up a shop with all our friends in it. It wouldn’t feel like we’d be working a day in our lives, all we’d do is chill with our friends every day. And although we don’t have a shop yet, I would say the people around us help us so much. Without them, none of this would be possible at all; we thank them for it.

What’sthefarthestplacesomeonehas traveledfromtoattendEuphoria?
Fabricio- For the Euphoria that blew up, a customer came all the way from Florida. It was absolutely crazy to see that happen.
Fabricio- When we first started, you could say that we were. When we hosted the first Euphoria, we didn’t want to disappoint the vendors that came from Culpepper, Winchester, and some other locations.
FortheEuphoriaevent thatwentviral, people werewaitingupto3 hoursjusttogetin. How didyouguysfeelseeing the massive line that had formed?
Chris- Honestly, I was scared. I was so scared for the customers because they were waiting for so long.
Fabricio- I was speechless, I didn’t even know what to say.
Chris- Nah you weren’t speechless, you were saying “Holy shit” the whole time.

PeopleseethatForbiiiddenhost’sthesemassiveevents whichrequirealotofplanningandthrifting,butwhat doesadaywithoutallofthatlooklikeforyouguys?
Chris- A regular day, I try to hit the gym. I usually don’t go. But we all still like to thrift as much as we can. We also work and go to school; we have to keep up with life still.
Fabricio- I go to the gym, go to class, and I also put in hours at my job. Whenever I have days off from all of that, I try to hit the thrift and go hang with friends. We also tag all our clothing with Pokemon cards that have QR codes on them. But man, the amount of time we take on that is ridiculous; that shit is killer.
Fromhereonout,whatisForbiiiddentryingtoachieve?
Fabricio- Opportunity for others. We want to leave something behind for someone else to pick up.
Chris- Just giving back to the community and just building it up as a whole.

Toendtheinterview,whatisyourguys’mostmemorablemoment beingwithForbiiidden?
Annali- Seeing the line that was forming at the Euphoria that blew up, I saw everyone with joy written all over their faces. I was so proud of Fabricio and Chris. I also created this one scrap book for Fabricio’s birthday that contained all of the “first times” with Forbiiidden. There’s just too many memories being with Forbiiidden, and seeing how far we’ve come makes me feel amazing.
Fabricio- With the pop-up that blew up, I just got emotional because all of the hard work finally paid off. We could finally see the product of it. Chris and I were just thanking each other for everything that we’ve done to this point. At the end of the day, we’re brothers and in business you need someone that will always have your back, that’s how Chris and I are, we always have each other’s backs no matter what.
Chris- Since Fabricio covered our happy moment, I’ll cover our “down in the dump” moment. At the VCU pop up.
Jerry- Aye, that was at my crib!
Chris- We were there from 12 to 7 and not a single customer showed up. The only people that showed up were Jerry’s friends, but they went just to talk to him. After the pop-up we were walking, and we told ourselves that what happened back there was going to be the first and last time that was ever going to happen to us. From here on out, we had to give it our all.
FRANKOCHOA:Weappreciateyouguy’ssharingyourbadmomentwith us.Sometimesweliketohighlightjustthegoodmoments,butinreality, weshouldhighlighteverythingalongourpath.
Chris- I have no problem at all speaking about the bad times you know. At the end of the day, the bad moments that seem impossible to get through are actually what make us grow.

LowLife doesn’t necessarily have the representation that would generally come to mind when first seeing or hearing it. The name LowLife is a unique acronym for Living Our Way, Life Is Forever Enormous. Christhian Martinez (Low), Randy Rios (Dusty), Mikel Corum (Kels), Siddiq Mustafa (CD), and Maxwell Gomez (JamesJoint), also known as LowLife, are a colony of diverse buzzing bees that never seem to sleep regardless of the time and day. “LowLife represents life, taking things and doing them your own way,” says Christhian. Every individual who is a part of this brand, music group, collective, or whatever you want to label it has something to bring to the dinner table. Whether it’s Christhian stitching on a new design onto an article of clothing, Randy spitting a new bar into the mic for an upcoming single, or CD filming a new music video to drop in the coming weeks.
Each one of them bounces off of each other in total harmony, and nothing less is ever shown than that. People may see LowLife as a group of guys that just produce music for no reason or work on clothing to pass the time, but LowLife is the exact opposite. LowLife is a place where self-expression is accepted beyond everything. LowLife is a secure way to allow creative juices to flow. Still, overall, LowLife is a family of five guys that never let their burning passion meet an end. They all live their lives their own way, knowing that life will always be forever enormous.

Out in the trails of Northern Virginia, we walked and talked with Christhian and Mikel to discover things about LowLife that we were dying to know.
INTERVIEW: FRANK OCHOA
What makes LowLife unique to the community?
Kels- On the music side of things, I think the music speaks for itself. We strive to stand out as much as possible with the different sounds we produce. Even between Dusty and I, our sounds don’t sound anything alike and we’re under the same umbrella. You won’t get our noise anywhere else but with us and that makes us unique.
Christhian- With the clothes, nobody does the shit the way we do it. I take my time with everything I work on, especially when I’m trying to learn new designs. I really want to make pants from scratch because I love to mess around with all the different materials. Right now, I’ve been holding back a lot of the pieces I’ve created, but soon enough that’ll change.
Why is LowLife a safe place for self-expression?
Christhian- In LowLife, music is made to help one another and the same goes with the clothes. I make art for other people which makes me feel amazing. If I see someone wearing LowLife gear, that means that they feel safe with us and they feel safe because of my self-expression.

Have you seen anyone wearing the LowLife clothes in public?
Kels- Oh yeah, this one kid at the gas station was staring at us through the glass doors. He then came in wearing one of our jackets and told us he recognized us from one of our YouTube videos. Honestly it was weird because he was just looking at us through the doors, but it was dope meeting someone we didn’t know wearing the clothes we created as well.
What’s one thing that pushes Lowlife’s grind?
Kels- Definitely the idea of always wanting to make something new. I even watch Chris work with the embroidery machine every day, so just learning is what pushes me as well.
Christhian- This LowLife shit is always on my mind. I’m always trying to think of new ideas to separate us from the crowd and that’s an everyday thing.

What does LowLife provide to the public?
Christhian- Straight up, motivation.
Kels- Something that is raw whether it’s with the music, clothes, or with our message. It’s always going to be us straight in your face with it.
What’s next for LowLife in the coming months/ years?
Christhian- A lot more shows for sure and way more clothes. People won’t even expect any of this. I find pieces at the thrift that catch my eye and then I put my own twist to it. No more basic tee shirts or pants. Things are going to change up.
Kels- We want to drop way more music. I want to drop more than ever before which will allow me to get more comfortable with it. Also have a lot more music videos, vlogs, and especially more pop-ups. We don’t want to waste time whatsoever, so we’re going to go hard.
What’s the message from LowLife to the people?
"Living Our Way, Life Is Forever Enormous for real. Stick to your own way and live your own way"

As a young 10-yearold boy, surrounding himself with a family that was always working on their businesses. Juan Carlos Uribe was 100% certain that he wanted to indulge in the world of entrepreneurship, not only to own his own business but also to keep the promise of buying his mother her own home. In the country of Colombia, the American Dream was not readily achievable, nor was it very visible. Despite the harsh reality, Juan Carlos would not let that hold him back from achieving his long-term goal. At the age of 17, he took the initiative of working with his father’s recycling company. Not only did this teach him responsibility, but it also allowed him to identify the skills he possesses. Soon after this, Juan Carlos was presented with the opportunity to manage a gas station that his father owned. Taking on ventures such as these has molded him into the conscientious person he is today.
Although much knowledge was being consumed, it just was not enough for him to settle. The next big move was to move his wife and two kids to the United States with himself in search of a better opportunity to achieve this so-called "American Dream" one day.
Upon his arrival to the US, diving into the restaurant business, Juan Carlos’ labor was the average working day that consisted of cleaning the bathrooms then washing the dishes. This work consisted of countless punched in hours. In the midst of the mundane labor, his mentality began to shift and a business viewpoint began to flourish. Following this, Juan Carlos began to climb through the ranks of the industry. From becoming a manager to owning a percentage of the restaurant he was working for. The work was not being viewed as a regular full-time job, but rather it was starting to be considered a career that could be present for the years to come.

In 2016, the opportunity of opening a restaurant was presented to Juan Carlos. Relentlessness was written all over his face. With blood, sweat, and tears being poured into this new journey, he was able to showcase to the world his passion project, Parrando’s Tex-Mex Grill.
Parrando’s has a wide variety of dishes, such as La Tablita, one of the hefty and tasteful plates that Parrando's offers. The various enchiladas that Parrando’s cook can either contain chicken or beef or seafood as well.
If you crave more greens, then the Parrandos Salad is calling your name, chicken, steak, or seafood accompany the yummy veggies served. As delicious as all the food sounds, what is a Tex-Mex without tacos, though? Parrando’s allows their customers to choose from their sizeable taco section that includes: Tacos al Carbon served with your choice of chicken or steak, Tacos Reynosa that comes with either chicken or steak, and to top it off, avocado and pineapple (This is one of Leche’s favorites).

Grilled steak, chicken, baby back ribs, and camarones brochette. Served with Mexican rice, a la charra beans, Pico de Gallo, guacamole, sour cream and fresh flour tortillas.

Also, the Fish Tacos are served with pan-fried white fish and many more that we cannot name because it will have your mouth watery. If you are 21 or older, you must try the wide range of drinks served. Parrando’s provides quality drinks such as Margaritas that are blended with sour mix, triple sec, and house tequila, Mojito’s that are mixed with rum, mint, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup, Daiquiris that come in the flavors of Piña Colada, Tropical or Strawberry, and last but not least,
the Sangria that fills your mouth with a flavorful taste that will never be forgotten. When walking into Parrando’s Tex-Mex Grill, you feel right at home. Right from the jump, you are greeted with a happy smile, and from the moment you get seated, you are showered with full attention and respect. The service provided at Parrando’s is what has customers coming in every day of the week. This is what Juan Carlos Uribe lives for; seeing families, couples, and friends leave with smiles on their faces.
Two corn tortillas with the choice of meat or vegetable. Covered with melted Monterrey Jack and Cheddar cheese. Served with Mexican rice, refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, and Pico de Gallo.

Parrando’s is one of the tastiest Tex-Mex grills in the Northern Virginia area, and if you have not dined in at the Ashburn or Haymarket location, stop everything you are doing and dine in immediately.

Leche approves this message, and Parrando’s Tex-Mex Grill is 100% Leche certified.
