The Marcliffe Hotel AND Spa

he Marcliffe Hotel and Spa is set in 11 acres of wooded grounds in the western suburb of Pitfodels, 3 miles from the centre of Aberdeen, known as The Granite City.

The original house was built in 1848 and converted to a luxury hotel by the present owner in 1993. With 34 rooms and 7 suites, this privately owned hotel is designed as a restful, elegant refuge for both the businessman and leisure traveller.

The Conservatory Restaurant offers seafood and steaks, as well as traditional Sunday lunches, all accompanied by a wine list of over 400 wines and more than 100 malt whiskies. The elegant Drawing Room offers lighter lunches Monday-Saturday. All diets catered for. A well appointed Health and Beauty Spa, hairdresser and gymnasium are available for all guests.

This luxurious and relaxed hotel is ideally located for touring Royal Deeside where there are more castles per acre than anywhere else in Britain.

The Castle Trail will take you to eleven of the finest examples. Alternatively, on The Malt Whisky Trail, you can discover malt whisky distilleries and a cooperage to learn more about the numerous Speyside Malt Whisky Distilleries unique to this part of north east Scotland.

Championship golf is offered at Royal Aberdeen, Cruden Bay, Murcar and the Trump International Course at Menie, arrangements can be made for all forms of country pursuits, including Salmon and Trout Fishing, Game Shooting and Stalking.

he Beechtree Restaurant, Moray College UHI is one of Scotland’s finest training restaurants. The Beechtree offers excellent home baking, speciality coffees and a variety of quality lunch options. W

e are Dunnet Bay Distillers. Unsurprisingly, we are located in the spectacular bay of Dunnet, where the freshest of air and the finest of water are in abundance. Our goal is to create spirits which reflect the Caithness way.

We hand distil slowly, thoughtfully and passionately to create our exceptional product. We sustainably forage our Caithness countryside to hand select the very best, including the rose in the rocks, sea buckthorn, hawthorn and rowan berries. These are carefully prepared with our traditional botanicals before Elizabeth, our traditional copper pot still, works her magic; the vapours pass over her basket where our botanicals will impart their wonderful flavours creating the delicious taste of our spirits. Martin will cast his watchful eye over the whole process, using only the heart of the distillation and discarding the heads and tails, to perfect the finest taste for our spirits. We carefully hand fill and wax seal every bottle, before it is numbered and signed at the distillery.

Great care is taken throughout the whole process to ensure only the very best will leave our wee distillery in Dunnet!
