Behind The Scenes

I wanted to take this opportunity to give everyone an idea of what the Turfgrass Council has been doing and the items we are working on behind the scenes as we close another year.

The TCNC Board is spending a fair amount of time studying and taking a deep look into our membership. As any association should do, we are trying to find out why members renew and do not renew. A survey will be sent out this month, and we hope everyone takes a moment to fill it out. Membership surveys are important for associations and businesses to ensure they are meeting expectations.

TCNC has been working closely with the NC Green Industry Council the past several months monitoring any regulatory issues that may have positive and negative impacts to our members. There was bill submitted for legislation that would have been devastating to a portion of our industry. Fortunately, it was modified to exclude turfgrass. The TCNC legislative advocacy has always been and always will be a main benefit for our members.

We were also glad to help with the NCGIC Annual Water Symposium. We were excited to be in-person for the first time in several years with our peers and colleagues. The continuing education offered included CEUs for landscape, irrigation, arborists, pesticide, landscape architects, wastewater operators and more!

The Board of Directors is also planning a strategic meeting to review and increase the value of your membership through education, advocacy, and community strategies. We seek to create opportunities to network and grow your business, improve industry content and education, expand our marketing efforts, organize community outreach projects, and increase the awareness of our North Carolina Certified Turfgrass Professionals.

We will keep our members informed of the results and progress of these issues in the future via emails and these letters.

Please make sure to take a couple of minutes to answer the survey and keep your email up to date so you do not miss any valuable information.
