This week has certainly reminded us that the British summer can be wonderfully unpredictable! After a glorious, sun-filled half term, the return to school has brought with it rather greyer skies and plenty of rain. Despite the weather, however, the Summer Term sporting programme has continued at full pace across the Prep School, with athletics sessions in full swing, tennis courts remaining busy, and cricket continuing to feature heavily throughout the week.

One of the real highlights this week has been the fantastic opportunity for our Year 7 and 8 girls to attend a Cricket Q&A session with two Hampshire and Southern Blaze players. Experiences such as these are hugely valuable for our students, providing insight into elite sport, inspiration from successful athletes and a chance to ask questions about the dedication, mindset and enjoyment involved in high-level performance. We are extremely grateful to the players for giving up their time and helping to further inspire the next generation of cricketers.
We were also delighted this week to host the second instalment of our Seaford Sport Webinar Series, this time with John Neal, titled Performing Under Pressure. In this insightful video, performance psychologist John Neal explores what really happens to the brain and body when individuals are placed under pressure. Drawing on neuroscience and elite sport experience, he explains how high-pressure situations can impact decision-making, confidence and performance, while also highlighting practical strategies to remain calm, focused and effective when it matters most. The session provides a fascinating look into how athletes, coaches and young performers can better understand pressure, develop resilience and create habits that allow them to perform consistently in challenging situations. John’s message reinforces the importance of preparation, mindset and self-awareness, offering valuable lessons not only for sport, but for everyday life and learning as well.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support throughout a very busy and enjoyable Summer Term. The lifts to fixtures, the washing piles, the sideline encouragement and the occasional emergency hunt for missing cricket whites are all very much appreciated.
Have a wonderful weekend and, with any luck, we may see the sunshine make a welcome return before too long!

This week, we will be supported by the Seaford College Physio Team, Sport Staff and our Medical Centre.
To continue to ensure that we are providing proactive, gold-standard care to our students, the school is in partnership with Return2Play, the UK’s leading sports medicine partners for schools. Feedback from other schools and parents utilising their expertise is strong, while our own experience has been overwhelmingly positive thus far.
If you have any queries regarding your account, then please get in touch with Return2Play directly via hello@return2play.org.uk and they will be happy to help. The helpdesk runs 7 days a week.

As a team, we will always do everything within our control to ensure fixtures and recreational activities go ahead as scheduled. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated via the respective sports coaches and clarion call.
We are a dog-friendly site; however, can I remind all parents that dogs should always be on a lead while onsite, and should not be on the field of play. If challenged by a member of staff, please be polite, respect the campus rules and remember that the safety of our students is paramount.
For our core values (RESPECT, TEAMWORK, COURAGE, TRUST) to be upheld and our sports programme to be truly successful, it takes the cooperation of all involved – players, coaches, officials, staff, spectators and parents. The College and the staff have spent some time and effort reinforcing these sporting values within Seaford, and we believe it is essential that we include parents and friends of the College in this process.
One of the key questions we ask all supporters to consider is:
‘How does our touchline behaviour shape character and enhance the enjoyment for all the players during the game?’
Please let the coaches coach so that you can enjoy the parental match day experience. As a team and a college, we value performance and desired learning behaviours over the scoreboard – win, lose or draw, it is about the
experience and the students making memories with their friends. Thank you for your support with this! Successful College sport is built upon strong partnerships between the students, parents and the College.
We look forward to seeing you all on the sidelines, both home and away, and thank you for your continued support of the Seaford Sport programme.
