Seaford College SPORT Saturday, 12th September, 2026
Welcome from the Director of Sport A very warm welcome back to Seaford Sport, particularly to those students and families joining us for the first time. After a positive start to term, it is fantastic to have a bumper weekend of sport at Seaford to get our competitive programme underway. This Saturday, Seaford will host every rugby fixture on campus, alongside our first hockey fixtures of the year and our golf programme throughout the morning. These create exactly the sort of atmosphere we want from a Saturday at Seaford: students competing, teammates supporting one another, families on the touchlines and sport taking place across the campus. There is momentum around Seaford Sport. We continue to develop the quality and breadth of our provision, strengthen our aspirational pathways and, importantly, create more meaningful opportunities for students to participate and represent the College. We are ambitious about where Seaford Sport can go, but our measure of progress is not simply results. It is also the number of students pulling on a Seaford shirt, the quality of their experience, the standards we set and the pride they take in representing something bigger than themselves. A friend of mine recently discussed the “Golden Triangle” on a coaching podcast: Student. Coach. Parent. The principle is simple: all three need to be part of the journey. There will be successes and disappointments, changes in selection, great performances and difficult ones. The consistent messages students receive from their coaches and at home can make a significant difference to how they respond, develop and ultimately enjoy their sport. That partnership extends beyond the field too. We want our families to come along, support, socialise and enjoy their Saturday at Seaford. With such a busy programme on campus, please be patient and courteous when parking and moving around the College, following any signage or guidance from staff. A huge thank you must go to our Grounds and Operations teams, who will be working across the campus from early morning, supporting a full programme of sport before continuing right through into the evening for the Year 12 Ball. It is a monumental effort behind the scenes and one that is easy to overlook when we arrive to find prepared pitches, changing rooms, catering and facilities ready for our students and visitors. It is also entirely befitting of a phrase we have recently begun using across Seaford Sport: Seaford before self. For our students, that means putting the team before individual ambition and representing the College with humility. For our staff and wider community, it is reflected in the countless contributions that allow these experiences to happen. Whether playing, coaching, working behind the scenes or supporting from the touchline, how we represent Seaford matters. Please continue to use SOCS as the first port of call for team selections, venues, timings and travel information. There is a huge amount to look forward to this year and plenty still to develop. This weekend gives us a brilliant opportunity to demonstrate the progress Seaford Sport continues to make and, more importantly, the community we want to build around it. Ad Alta!

Medical Provision This week, we will be supported by Event Medic Services, the Seaford College Physio Team, Sport Staff and our Medical Centre.
Additional Medical Support To continue to ensure that we are providing proactive, gold-standard care to our students, the school is in partnership with Return2Play, the UK’s leading sports medicine partners for schools. Feedback from other schools and parents utilising their expertise is strong, while our own experience has been overwhelmingly positive thus far. If you have any queries regarding your account, then please get in touch with Return2Play directly via hello@return2play.org.uk and they will be happy to help. The helpdesk runs 7 days a week.
Wet Weather and Cancellations As a team, we will always do everything within our control to ensure fixtures and recreational activities go ahead as scheduled. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated via the respective sports coaches and clarion call.
Dogs on the School Site We are a dog-friendly site; however, can I remind all parents that dogs should always be on a lead while onsite, and should not be on the field of play. If challenged by a member of staff, please be polite, respect the campus rules and remember that the safety of our students is paramount.
Parents and Supporters – Code of Conduct For our core values (RESPECT, TEAMWORK, COURAGE, TRUST) to be upheld and our sports programme to be truly successful, it takes the cooperation of all involved – players, coaches, officials, staff, spectators and parents. The College and the staff have spent some time and effort reinforcing these sporting values within Seaford, and we believe it is essential that we include parents and friends of the College in this process. One of the key questions we ask all supporters to consider is:
‘How does our touchline behaviour shape character and enhance the enjoyment for all the players during the game?’ Please let the coaches coach so that you can enjoy the parental match day experience. As a team and a college, we value performance and desired learning behaviours over the scoreboard – win, lose or draw, it is about the experience and the students making memories with their friends. Thank you for your support with this! Successful College sport is built upon strong partnerships between the students, parents and the College. We look forward to seeing you all on the sidelines, both home and away, and thank you for your continued support of the Seaford Sport programme.
