Seaford College SPORT
Saturday, 13th September, 2025

Welcome from the Director of Sport
It gives me great pride to welcome you to this weekend’s Saturday Sport Programme, which promises to be a bumper occasion for Seaford College. Last week was a strong starting point for the term, but this weekend we are thrilled to see an even greater proportion of our students representing the school across a wide range of fixtures, alongside our internal Saturday sport and activities programme.

We are especially delighted that both hockey and rugby will be fielding four senior teams this weekend. Our Girls’ Hockey 1st and 2nd XI will enjoy the special experience of playing on Friday evening, so let’s make sure we are there to support the girls. Furthermore, for the first time in our history, Seaford Rugby will also field four senior teams. This is a landmark moment, and a testament to the hard work of staff, students and parents past and present. At a time when participation nationally is declining, we are proud to be bucking the trend, always striving to create as many playing opportunities as possible and working closely with other likeminded schools to do the same.
The Prep School has also begun its fixture programme this week, and it has been wonderful to see our younger students taking their first steps into competitive sport. On Friday, we will hold our annual CrossCountry event, which once again will showcase the togetherness and inclusive nature of our College that runs (excuse the pun!) through the school.
As ever, we remain committed to helping every student grow through sport and physical activity, embracing Seaford’s sporting behaviours of effort, energy and enthusiasm. Alongside these, our Mansion core values of respect, teamwork, courage and trust guide everything we do, whether in competition, in training or in daily school life. These values are not simply words; they are the foundations upon which our young people build their character and confidence.
I urge all of our players to prioritise their team this weekend and relish the competition and the opportunity to contribute. To put it simply, you will perform and enjoy the experience more by “looking after your mates”.
None of this would be possible without the support of the entire community, from our Heads of Sport, coaches and whole staff, to the parents who play such a vital role in encouraging and supporting the students. Together, we create the environment in which every young person can thrive.
We look forward to welcoming our opposition and warmly hosting our visitors this weekend. With so many fixtures and activities taking place, it is set to be a truly special Saturday for Seaford Sport. I look forward to seeing you all on the sidelines, and please don’t forget your umbrellas!

Additional Medical Support
To continue to ensure that we are providing proactive, gold-standard care to our students, the school is in partnership with Return2Play, the UK’s leading sports medicine partners for schools. Feedback from other schools and parents utilising their expertise is strong, while our own experience has been overwhelmingly positive thus far.
If you have any queries regarding your account, then please get in touch with Return2Play directly via hello@return2play.org.uk and they will be happy to help. The helpdesk runs 7 days a week.

Wet Weather and Cancellations
As a team, we will always do everything within our control to ensure fixtures and recreational activities go ahead as scheduled. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated via the respective sports coaches and clarion call.
Dogs on the School Site
We are a dog-friendly site; however, can I remind all visitors that dogs should always be on a lead while onsite, and should not be on the field of play. If challenged by a member of staff, please be polite, respect the campus rules and remember that the safety of our students is paramount.
Parents and Supporters – Code of Conduct
For our core values (RESPECT, TEAMWORK, COURAGE, TRUST) to be upheld and our sports programme to be truly successful, it takes the cooperation of all involved – players, coaches, officials, staff, spectators and parents. The College and the staff have spent some time and effort reinforcing these sporting values within Seaford, and we believe it is essential that we include parents and friends of the College in this process.
One of the key questions we ask all supporters to consider is:
‘How does our touchline behaviour shape character and enhance the enjoyment for all the players during the game?’
Please let the coaches coach so that you can enjoy the parental match day experience. As a team and a college, we value performance and desired learning behaviours over the scoreboard – win, lose or draw, it is about the experience and the students making memories with their friends. Thank you for your support with this! Successful College sport is built upon strong partnerships between the students, parents and the College.
We look forward to seeing you all on the sidelines, both home and away, and thank you for your continued support of the Seaford Sport programme.
