Seaford College Prep School Fixtures

Wednesday 20th March & Thursday 21st March

Welcome from the Director of Sport

I am delighted to be welcoming you all to Seaford College this week.

Sport plays a major part in the co-curricular and social life of the College and strengthens our community At Seaford we truly believe that ‘sport for all’ and ‘performance sport’ can co-exist. We recognise the development of fundamental behaviours that emerge by participating and competing in sport, that help young people achieve excellence regardless of where their path might take them beyond Seaford College.

Our extensive competitive fixture programme, recreational opportunities and out-of-season coaching provide an opportunity for all our student athletes to either test their skills in a friendly environment against quality opposition or just to develop their abilities As a sports department, we aim to create a visionary, student-centred environment that fosters enjoyment, inclusivity, hard work, creativity, competition, resilience (GRIT), decision making and reflection, thus developing independent learners who can adapt to the constantly changing landscape of modern sport. We aim to ensure each student achieves their own personal best via the Seaford sporting pathway. We believe development drives performance and that, through our sporting pathway, students will achieve their personal bests, while developing qualities and attitudes that will help them not just on the sports field but in life itself.

The College grounds provide an outstanding setting for the students, and I would personally like to thank all the sports, grounds, estates and catering teams for all their support in preparation for today.

Finally, please take some time to read our parental code of conduct attached. Please let the coaches coach so that you can enjoy the parental match day experience. As a team and a college, we value performance and desired learning behaviours over the scoreboard – win, lose or draw, it is about the experience and the students making memories with their friends.

Good luck to all the teams. Enjoy every moment and strive to be the best you can be, on and off the field of play. Remember our non-negotiables of Effort, Energy and Enthusiasm and put our core values of RESPECT – TEAMWORK – COURAGE – TRUST at the heart of everything you do every day!

Successful College sport is built upon strong partnerships between the students, parents and the College. We look forward to seeing you all on the side-lines, both home and away, and thank you for your continued support of the Seaford Sports programme.

Medical provision

For our fixtures we will be supported by the Seaford College physio team, and our Medical Centre.

Additional medical support – Return2Play – reminder!

To continue to ensure that we are providing proactive, gold-standard care to our students, the school is in partnership with Return2Play, the UK’s leading sports medicine partners for schools. Feedback from other schools and parents utilising their expertise is strong, while our own experience has been overwhelmingly positive thus far.

I have attached a letter from the College outlining how to use this free service. If you have any queries regarding your account, then please get in touch with Return2Play directly via hello@return2play.org.uk and they will be happy to help. The helpdesk runs 7 days a week.

Wet weather and cancellations

As a team, we will always do everything within our control to ensure fixtures and recreational activities go ahead as scheduled. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated via the respective sports coaches and clarion call.

Dogs on the school site

We are a dog-friendly site; however, can I remind all parents that dogs should always be on a lead whilst onsite, and should not be on the field of play. If challenged by a member of staff, please be polite, respect the campus rules and remember that the safety of our students is paramount.

Parents and supporters – Code of Conduct

For our core values (RESPECT, TEAMWORK, COURAGE, TRUST) to be upheld and our sports programme to be truly successful, it takes the cooperation of all involved – players, coaches, officials, staff, spectators, and parents. The College and the staff have spent some time and effort reinforcing these sporting values within Seaford, and I believe it is essential that we include parents and friends of the College in this process.

One of the key questions we asked all supporters to consider is:

‘How does our touchline behaviour shape character and enhance the enjoyment for all the players during the game?’

Please let the coaches coach so that you can enjoy the parental match day experience. As a team and a college, we value performance and desired learning behaviours over the scoreboard – win, lose or draw, it is about the experience and the students making memories with their friends. Thank you for your support with this! Successful College sport is built upon strong partnerships between the students, parents and the College.

We look forward to seeing you all on the side-lines, both home and away, and thank you for your continued support of the Seaford Sport programme.
