Progress Update

After years of hard work, research, resident engagement, design, contract tender management and negotiation we are excited to confirm that work on the new leisure centre is starting in September.
This major milestone has been celebrated with Becky Adlington OBE who attended a ground-breaking event at Stychbrook Park on 05 September to mark the start of this long
Pictured breaking ground on the site of the new Lichfield Leisure Centre at Stychbrook Park are (front, from left) Lichfield Swimming Club Captain Sophie Conway; Lichfield District Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Leisure and Major Projects, Councillor Andy Smith; Caroline Fellows of The Friends of Friary Grange; ReCreation Director of Developments Adrian Turner, Rebecca Adlington OBE, Lichfield District Council Leader Councillor Doug Pullen, Lichfield Swimming Club captain Luke Wandsworth and Stepnell Director Adrian Barnes.
As an Olympic gold medal winner for freestyle swimming Becky is uniquely positioned to understand the importance of community leisure facilities and her company ReCreation have been instrumental in helping Lichfield District Council to design the facilities to ensure they meet the needs of local residents.
“Whether as a training ground for the next generation of Olympians, or as a community hub in which to stay physically and mentally in superb health, all of us at ReCreation are thrilled to be developing this new leisure centre for the people of Lichfield”
