Derby Cathedral Choir is a very vibrant part of the musical life of the city and county, and their reputation for excellence spreads far and wide. Alongside the Cathedral Choir, the Cathedral Music Department offer opportunities to local children through the Junior Choir, and a recently established programme of Choral and Music Outreach. They sing five choral services each week, and undertake various other projects, tours and trips both within the UK and abroad (recent trips include Belgium, France and Italy); CD recordings and BBC broadcasts; and concerts and performances with international artists, including the Sixteen, John Rutter, Alexander L’Estrange, Jethro Tull and Sinfonia Viva. Former choristers have gone on to a whole range of different careers but those that have chosen music now hold posts at Christ Church Oxford, Leicester Cathedral, Portsmouth Cathedral, Westminster School and the London Oratory Director: Alexander Binns, Organ: Edward Turner BROOMDASHER Chris Hayes; Deena Marcus-Jedamzik; Josephine Swinhoe; Margaret Moore; Richard Cryan CORACLE Paul Hutchinson: Accordion.
