FROM PUB TO PULPIT ALL SAINTS CATHEDRAL, HOVE

Saturday 1 July 2023 7.30 pm

All Saints Cathedral Choir, Brighton Voices Director: David Stevens, Organ: David Stevens

Music lies at the heart of All Saints’ many activities. In addition to our lunchtime concert series, the church hosts many of Brighton and Hove’s finest ensembles for their regular concerts.

All Saints also has a number of in-house groups:

The Parish Choir sings for at Sunday morning services and at the major feasts of the church year. Membership of this group is by audition

Our community choir partner, Brighton Voices, performs a number of concerts each year, often with instrumental accompaniment, and is open to anyone, without audition.

The Junior Chorister programme offers a musical education to boys and girls aged 713, who take part in various services and concerts in All Saints and elsewhere. Choristers receive free singing lessons and theory and sight-singing tuition.

The first Senior Chorister group, for upper voices aged 13-18, begins in September 2023. This group continues and builds on the education that choristers receive in the junior group.

New Music for All Saints is our commissioning programme which encourages composers to create works for parish choir use. The first new work, ‘How still the night’ by Alexander Campkin, was premiered by the Parish Choir in December 2022. This year’s commission will be written by Sally Beamish. This programme is funded by subscription.
