Dear Readers, This week has seen BH more children back in school and the government cutting the social distancing to 1 metre plus (whatever that means). We are all trying to be careful but are doing a little bit more in terms of meeting others, shopping etc. This week we had a new experience of a conference call to compare our competition answers. That was fun and something else to bring us all together. Hatzlocho Family Prijs with moving day on Tuesday. We are waiting to see the pictures! May you have much hatzlocho and brocho in your new home. Wishing everyone a gut Shabbos and a successful week with all your learning, chores and enjoying each other, and make the most of the free time you have. בס"ד Dear Editor, Thank you so much for this amazing magazine. I really enjoy the articles and all the pictures. I find it amazing that notwithstanding everything, the little virus that has upended the world we know has brought us closer. When this pandemic started we were faced with doing all sorts of things to protect oneself. Who knew? , is it a regular virus? A computer virus …. No one was about to take any risks, especially old fat geezers with long white beards. I mean, all sorts of messages were being sent from the high and mighty doctors. Personally, I don’t think they knew any more than the shoemaker down the street but who’s going to listen to a shoemaker? Nothing like a few letters after a name to sound choshuv. Be it as it may, we had the pleasure of having Motti Weisfisch for an extended period. Lest you think this was a tirchah, think again . We enjoyed Carlebach style Havdalah ( well … to be perfectly honest, most of us, it wasn’t
something that Sorah is into… ). Being cooped up meant we got to smell the roses and watch the sun set.
So all told life behind bars wasn’t that terrible. Sleeping arrangements were a little
tight sometimes, but everyone was a real trooper and we all went with the flow. Even Elisheva didn’t object too much (she doesn’t like her Opa, every
time I look at her she either turns the other way looking desperately for someone else or, if there is no one around, she cries. It’s ok, I am not insulted, certain fine things like wine, cheese and Opas are a taste to be acquired).
Meantime, across the pond in Lakewood, NJ Shimmy got to have his Siddur Party social distancing and all. We have all had our fair share of silly pictures, movies etc, of all the crazy things that people get to during this time, well, אנו עמלים והם עמלים, we all have to contend, its just what you do with it.
So little by little a semblance of normalcy begins to creep back into our lives, after all there is just so much we can tolerate. The kids begin to go back to school masks in hand (maybe they eventually get onto the face, I really don’t know since I don’t have to go to school anymore…)
And so we all stare off into the great blue yonder wondering what tomorrow or next week will bring. Baruch Hashem Eretz Yisrael has not anything close to what has been happening elsewhere. We continue to Daven that Hashem should keep us all safe. We invite you all to join us here in Eretz Yisrael … come early to beat the rush!
Sincerely, Uncle Aron
STORY TIME WITH SHMULLY Story #4 @ Issue 9
FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE Mr. Laron was a big lawyer in New York and had a relative in a small town in Eretz Yisroel whose son was becoming bar mitzva that week. So, Mr. Laron went to Eretz Yisroel to partake in the bar mitzva, and was surprised when he came there, that his relatives’ town had grown a lot and was almost a big town.
On the Shabbos of the bar mitzva. It was getting late for shacharis but Mr. Laron was still in his house and having a coffee while putting on his Tallis. He was disappointed when he spilt his coffee on his Tallis; on the other hand he was happy because it was only a bit in the corner so he went to shul. During the davening he needed to go be excused so he took off his Tallis and went to be excused. When he came out there were 2 Talliesim but none of them was his so he assumed that someone had taken his Tallis, so for the davening he would take that persons Tallis. While he was davening, he was constantly thinking about his Tallis and could not concentrate on what he was saying. So, he asked the people next to him if they were sure the Tallis they were wearing was theres but everyone said yes it is my Tallis till he got to the last person and when he asked why he was asking, Mr. Laron, said how when he came out from being excused he could not find his Tallis. So, the person said “you have now got an opportunity to thank Hashem. Think about the positive” so Mr. Laron went back to his seat and was thinking about how he had met so many people and had got a chance to see all the people in the shul. He thought as he looked around, but what was that coffee stain in the corner of that person in front of him, on the Tallis? It must be mine, he thought, so Mr. Laron asked the person in front of him whether the Tallis he was wearing was his, but the person looked at his Tallis and said “no it is not mine. is it yours?”. “Yes, it is. Here’s your Tallis” replied Mr. ler0n. Q: What can we learn from the story? A: We must always thank Hashem in every case and situation (for more information about thanking Hashem and a list of 30 things to thank Hashem for Issue 4 page 5 by Tzvi Yehuda)

Green Fingers By Aunty Tirza (Oma) Have you ever heard of this expression (green fingers)? This means someone who is very good at looking after their indoor plants, or maybe also their garden. Well, oma really had been wanting to make the back of her garden into a rock garden. SO…… On Wednesday morning at 11, Oma, Yehudis Brocho, and myself went off to B&Q for a big shopping spree. Of course, in the shop, Oma and I still wore a mask. Anyhow, so there we were, and the first thing we did was to pick up 4 bags of earth, 2 bags of bark and 1 bag of pebbles. Then we went to look for flowers and shrubs. After that we went indoors. This shopping list consisted of a big spade (big money!!!), a little spade, a new spray gun for the end of the hose, some netting, ties and bamboo arches. Then… we had to lift it all into the car…….and back out of the car in leweston place, through the house and into the back. Well, that was more than enough for one morning. After a good cold cup of apple juice, we went home.
At six o clock that evening, we reconvened in the back garden, with Shifra for extra man power. We started by watering the earth because it was so dry, we couldn’t even dig!
Then, we tilled the earth as best as we could, put on the top soil, planned where to plant the stuff, planted, put down bark around the plants to limit weeds, and then , to deter the foxes and squirrels from digging it all up, covered everything with netting, then gave the whole thing another spritz. By the way, as we were gardening, we found a foxes lair, so we covered the entrance with stones to hopefully deter it being used. I called Oma this morning(Thursday) to find out if all o.k. She said that B.H. nothing has been touched. So lets keep davening that Oma’s flowers really flourish.

Now we are only writing about options at the bottom of the screen. When you have joined the meeting ID, then when you move your mouse then there should be at the bottom of the computer a few items that you can choose. Two funny whitish people. You can press that and you can write who you want to send a message to. Also you can mute and unmute yourself. You can turn off video from all those options with messages. All the other people and the host cannot see that person who turned off video, can hear that person but not see them and their background. Also there is a picture of a nice smiley and a funny medium plus. You can touch it and it will give you 2 options of funny pictures. Maybe you won’t be able to see the clapping picture but there is a clapping picture with 2 hands and in those 2 pictures then there will be a (thumbs up). If you press it then it will come in one of the corners of your video. Only if you are on video, you will see it. Virtual background: By video, for turning off and on video, then there will be an arrow. If you go to it and quickly go onto one of the options then go to the middle options then in the middle of your screen then there should come up a white thing or loads of funny pictures and you normal. (I don’t really know if hosts can do it). Then press one of the pictures you want to make you a background but you have to have a white background (or one of any colour) and it will look very cool for the other people. (Dictated entirely by Yitzi (“there are lots of thens – commented whilst dictating!” ). The boys have found a new entertainment – zooming each other from different computers – very noisy!!! {Editor}).

Zoo Poem
The lion’s roars are very scary, and the bears are very hairy. The monkeys have cheeks And the mice all squeak.
So many animals big and small, So many animals short and tall, Some are fast and some are slow. Some jump high, some crawl low.
Others swim like dolphins and whales, Birds can fly up in the sky, While tree frogs can climb high.
Cheetahs can run fast, Though tortoise are always last, Some have feathers, some have tails, So which is Others swim like dolphins and whales, my favourite? I hear you ask, Birds can fly up in the ZOO POEM!!! To answer that is a difficult task. The lion’s roars are very scary, Each one is a and the bears magnificent sight are very hairy. Some are The monkeys gentle some have might have cheeks Each animal And the mice is a fascinating creation all squeak. And cause for celebration So many animals big and small, Thank you So many HASHEM is what we say animals short and tall, Thank you in Some are fast every way and some are slow. Some jump For the high, some crawl low. Some have animals and the day feathers, some have tails, We will always continue to pray!

Covid at the beach By Aunty Tirza
Well, with the decision that Shifra was going to iyh start school on Tuesday, we decided that we were going to give our extended holiday a rousing goodbye. So first, being that we live in England, the first thing was to find out the weather forecast. YAY! It was predicted to be a pleasant day of 25 degrees. O.K. next was to daven that it would ACTUALLY be that temperature. Next step was to work out with Uncle Yisroel if the car was available. It so happened that he had a very busy day, but understanding the importance (isn’t it really important to go to the beach?),he decided to hire a small car for the day so we could actually have our outing-3 cheers for him!!!!! Next, each of the girls wanted to have a friend come with them. So Yehudis Brocho called one friend, and shifra called another. We then got our rucksack ready with plenty of towels, froze some drinks, and went to bed as we were planning to start out early because it is an hour and fourty minutes to get to this sandy beach in Ramsgate. Brrring…… Aunt Tirza got up at 8 so she could daven shacharis before we leftshe davened hallel and mussaf on the beach, but more of that later. We put bags with frozen drinks, sandwiches, fruit, nush and sundries e.g. suncream into various bags (did you not know we were jewish?!), and then off we went to the beach.p We had a beautiful unadventurous drive down to the beach, as B.H. there was no traffic. Unfortunately. Yehudis Brocho’s friend couldn,t come in the end, but this proved fortuitous, as later on when the tide went out, Y.B. spent a lot of time making a sand model, -see picture, which she couldn’t have done if her friend had been with her. When we first saw the sea, we stopped the car, got out, and everybody said their brocho aloud individually so that the others could say omein. We then piled back into the car and continued down, until we got to the car park adjacent to the beach. The tide as right in, and waves smashed against the wall. However, further along there was part of the sand that was uncovered. WE went there and that’s where we stayed the whole afternoon. After the girls had put on their sunscreen and davened, they went down to the water. Just look at the fun! We had put in enough money for 3 hours -it was so so so expensive - £1 an hour!!!!!!! But the girls were all having such a good time and I was having such a good time watching them, that I went back and put on an extra hour.
After swimming in the sea, Y.B. wanted to use her creativity, and started making a man in the sand. She did such a good job of it, that a family that had just come onto the beach were watching her do it. They were most impressed. We then headed back to the car to go home. Whilst we were on the motorway, Uncle Yisroel called up and said he wanted to speak to me, but I should find somewhere to park the car first. Of course, I don’t speak on the phone when I am driving but put it on loudspeaker. I told him he could talk, I have a wire, but I don’t think he understood. I was therefore getting a little worried, but then I remember reading somewhere that 99 per cent of what people worry about never happens, so I stopped and told myself I will wait and see first what Uncle Yisroel wants. As we got off the motorway, we found a side street. Guess what Uncle Yisroel wanted? He was busy at home with a function and the place was upside down. Would we mind, instead of going home, could we go and eat out somewhere. WOULD WE MIND??????????? Of course not. Talk about a Make Bepatish for a fantastic day out. We couldn’t eat in, because at the moment with covid it is not allowed. Besides, the girls were wearing long slinkies full of sand with little socks on. Not quite Stamford Hill clothing. So whilst I drove the rest of the way to pizza Uri, Yehudis Brocho made an order. I had a mask in the car, so went in to collect the order. We then sat in the car and had- SUPPER. Talk about having a grand final day, I think you will all agree, it was amazing.
