Dear readers, Well done to all of you who sent in more things for the magazine! It's the fifth week now and the articles are still coming in. Thank you, everyone. We would like to welcome family Marcus this week to our magazine. With thoughts for שבועות, there are some lovely crafts ideas - check them out and send us pictures of anything you try! I can’t thank aunty Chavi enough for starting off this magazine. First of all, it is giving some young ( and older, and much older ) people something to do in their spare ( and not so spare) time. But much more important, it is getting the whole family together. That absolutely yummy picture of Boruch and Esther’s little one in the cupboard (Names please, I lost it after Shimi and Malky) , and the wonderful bonfires on Lag B’omer with bows and arrows. As for the Broughton Epsteins_ well kudos to you for being so forward thinking as to start your succah now. Iyh you should be זוכהto use it this first year in Eretz Yisroel together with us all and משיח. Hope you are making it big enough. If we will iy’h all be in ירושלים, we will want a family reunion in it! As for in London, it has been quite a humdrum week. Nothing special really happened apart from Shifra baking a few cheesecakes (in the freezer- sorry no tasting) and we bought some puzzler books including some sudokus, and a few pencils with rubber tips. Lots of fun. I therefore decided I will make a couple of puzzles. Aunty Tirtza

THE INTERNATIONAL SHOCHET CONTINUED... By Aunty Chavi
When I began shechting in Ireland, the Dayan involved in that Shechita needed to see me shechting ( דקותlamb) so he came with on one of my first trips. The importer was also coming so we travelled together. (This reminds me of another story I will relate soon). The Dayan had lived a long time in England as did the importer. We checked in together and so the Dayan pulled out his foreign passport and the importer his Israeli one. I then pulled out my British one which I had made not that long before and their eyes opened wide. Of all three, I was the one with a British Passport! Our flight was uneventful and we made our way to the hotel, about an hour away. We got there about 11 o’clock at night (which by now you will know is a usual time for me) and the receptionist handed us each a card for the room. Off we went and made up to meet at six in the morning in the lobby. What a surprise I had when I opened the door to my room. There was a large four-poster bed in the middle of the room with a canopy on top. A bath was set in the middle of the bathroom and there was a private Jacuzzi. I was flabbergasted! I could see that this importer (who booked the rooms and the shechita) really appreciated shochtim and their role. I enjoyed the jacuzzi and then went to bed.
Six o’clock found me in the lobby all on my own. The receptionist told me that the Rabbi had gone to a different hotel. It didn’t make sense to me but she reassured me that it was true, so I decided to wait outside for him and true to her word, the Dayan rolled up in a black chauffeured Mercedes. I was so surprised and confused and I asked the Dayan what happened. He told me that he got an awful room that was so small you couldn’t swing a cat and besides, it was dirty and smelly! He refused to sleep there and went to a different hotel. My assumptions about the importer’s view of my role as a shochet dropped a few notches! The receptionist had obviously made a mistake last night when handing out the cards!!! And here for the ‘together’ story: I was shechting in Ireland with two choshuve Israeli shochtim who could not speak a word of English besides yes and no and count to ten. They wanted to sit together in the airplane and asked me how to say that in English. I told them to point to themselves and say ‘together’. This worked very well each week and
they happily travelled to Eretz Yisroel sitting next to each other each time. One day, however, a third Israeli shochet came and they travelled home together. Being experienced already, they came to the airport with the intention of sitting near each other So they asked to be placed……threegether!
We want to sit threegether... Now on a serious note. When living in London, I travelled once with Dayan Westheim zt”l from the abattoir in Ireland to Dublin airport. This was the first time I met him (he came to see me shechting). He was falling asleep whilst I was talking to him. He duly apologised and explained that he found it hard to learn when travelling so he stayed up most of the night before learning to make up for the next day!
How to Make a Puzzle By Yitzi Weisfish 1. Sort out all the pieces. Put the flat pieces into a bag or into a pile. 2. Find the corner pieces and put them in the right places.
3. Make the outside of the puzzle with the side pieces.
4. Put the rest of the pieces into the outside pieces.
5. Well done!
The missing tzitzis I usually get up early and then daven so that I catch first סוף זמן קריאת שמע. On Tuesday i came to where I put my tzitzis in the night and I couldn`t find them. I searched for a few minutes upstairs downstairs but I couldn`t find them. I saw it was geting late so I took my father’s tzitzis and put them over my shirt and davened. When I was nearly finished davening one of my brothers {he dosn`t want me to write his name} came to me and showed me my tzitzis in his hand. After I finished I asked him where he found them, he told me...he woke up wearing my tzitzis.

SHAVUOS FLOWER CRAFTING Carnations What you need: tissue paper, kebab sticks, green electrical tape 1. Draw circles around a glass on tissue paper 2. Cut out as many circles as you can 3. Poke the kebab stick through the middle of 10-15 circles 4. Lift up each circle, one at a time, and squish it onto the kebab stick (a bit like how your Mummy always tells you NOT to squish the serviettes, squish them exactly like that!) 5. Wrap the tape up around the stick until the top, covering the bottom 1/3cm of the flower 6. Gently un-squish each petal and fluff the flower up.
Daffodils What you need: egg tray, yellow and orange paint, yellow card, green plant sticks, PVA glue, sellotape 1. Paint the inside of the egg tray orange 2. Paint the outside of the egg tray yellow and leave to dry 3. Cut a daffodil shape out of yellow card 4. Once the egg tray is dry, cut out each individual cup
5. Stick the egg cup onto the middle of the yellow flower shape with PVA glue 6. Once it is dry, tape the plant stick to the back of the flower.
Daisies What you need: toilet rolls, pomp poms, pva glue, sellotape (optional: white labels) 1. Cut the toilet roll in half lengthways 2. Stick each roll back together to make 2 skinny rolls 3. Cut each roll into thin ‘slices’ 4. Stick a pom pom on a coloured paper 5. Shape the petal ‘slices’ as you wish (see picture), by pinching and pushing 6. Dip each petal into glue and stick on the paper around the pom pom. Optional: to make the petals white, cover the toilet roll with labels. You can even decorate the labels first for fun effects! Feel free to cut around the flowers and stick on a stem according to no. 6 on the daffodil page.

The clapping in Wellington st. West Every week Thursday at 8:00 the whole Wellington Street West comes out and starts clapping for the NHS. Opposite us we have a neigbor; we call him ‘Number 1’ because he lives in house number 1. Every night he makes a barbecue and by the clapping, Number 1 takes his barbecue lid and spoon and smashes them together and starts clapping. Everyone starts laughing. Then number 5 comes – an older couple – the man has a trumpet and his wife has a pot with a spoon. The husband plays the trumpet and his wife bangs along with her pot and spoon. The Romanian family at Number 8 clap and shout, “tomoorrow no more veerus”. All the Chassidim with their Tzitzis on top of ther shirts are out clapping together with all the children. One week a Chossid drove past on his car. He found it so funny that he hooted just to join in the fun. Everyone shouted even louder. Then when everyone stopped, everything was quiet for one second .... and then we heard... a neighbour blow the Shofar!

PROCEDURE INGREDIENTS
Mix all ingredients together and
