WELCOME TO THE AGRIBUSINESS

January 2024 Newsletter WE ARE SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE! OFF TO A GREAT START

Outstanding Enrollment for Spring 2024 We are so pleased to share that enrollment for Spring 2024 has been outstanding to say the least. Dr. Alex Magnier has two classes (Principles of Agribusiness Management and Agribusiness Finance) which were at capacity prior to the close of registration and in response excess seats were opened to allow for more students to sign up for the courses. Dr. Roka has one course (Cannabusiness) which also opened more seats after filling to capacity. This is the first time in the history of the program that we have opened extra seats in our courses. Dr. Roka’s SWFL Farm Tours class, graciously funded by First Bank, has 19 students ready to embark on a full list of farm tours during the semester. Currently, we have 137 registrations across 6 courses that are being offered this semester. We are expecting this to be a wonderful semester for our faculty, staff and students!

Agribusiness Career Fair Success Back in November of 2023, we hosted our first career fair on campus at FGCU and were joined by three major players in the SWFL Agriculture: U.S. Sugar, Lipman Family Farms and Scotlynn. This small scale career fair was a great way to gauge the interest of our students and we are happy to report they were thrilled with the experience to meet with various companies to discuss both full time positions as well as internships. We are excited to announce our next career fair on April 2, 2024. If you are interested in being a part of our Spring career fair please contact Ashlynn Dunn at adunn@fgcu.edu. We request that you have multiple opportunities for full time and internship positions if possible. Limited space is available for exhibitors and space is first come first served!

We still have availability for interested parties to enjoy watching an FGCU Women’s or Men’s Basketball game for the remainder of the season. The FGCU Women’s Basketball team is currently undefeated at home! Come show support for our Eagle Athletes and enjoy four tickets to the game center-court courtesy of Dr. Bernie and Elaine Lester.
