The Summer Reading Program has blasted off and many out of this world programs are happening at your local library all summer long! In addition to a limited collection of local history materials at select library locations, your library card gets you access to tools like Ancestry Library Edition and ProQuest Historical Newspapers. Ancestry Library Edition, available at any library location using public computers or public wi-fi, is an online searching program with approximately 4,000 databases and billions of names. Ancestry Library Edition includes census, vital, church, court, and immigration records. Lambton County Library cardholders can also access full digital archives of three major newspapers, The Windsor Star, The Globe and Mail and The Toronto Star from home with ProQuest Historical Newspapers. Get insight into everyday lives, places and events of the past with full text searching of historical content, which is among the most sought-after primary source material. Source materials, like newspapers and records, can be valuable for anyone conducting family genealogy.
