A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year and the LCCHS football season! Although this year will look unlike any other, a goal of excellence in academics, athletics and citizenship will continue to be a top priority of Letcher County Public Schools. As your superintendent, I will carry on that goal. As each student engages in learning or steps onto a playing field at LCCHS, I wish them abounding success. My heart is on the field with each player. Not only are they learning the game, they are learning discipline and teamwork. These skills are more important now than ever before and will carry them through life. Have a great season and GO COUGARS!
Letcher County Public Schools Superintendent Denise Yonts
Sincerely, Denise Yonts, Superintendent Letcher County Public Schools

Coach’s Corner Cougar Nation, Welcome to the 2020 football season! Thank God we have a season! What an incredible year 2020 has been so far as we have faced so many challenges as the result of the worldwide pandemic. While much has been lost due to this event — so much can also be gained. I know that my perspective is different and among the many lessons learned is that we cannot take the little things for granted. I have greatly missed the time spent with the team but especially the experiences with my players. I truly love these kids and seeing them become young men. So, with a renewed passion and excitement we go into this new season. My commitment to Letcher County Football runs deep. From my elementary school days at Arlie Boggs, high school football at Whitesburg High School (1989) and through the many years coaching here in the county, from pee-wee to high school, I have and will continue to serve our boys. I measure the success of my efforts not on the gridiron but on the battlefield of life after football is over when our young boys become young men who serve the communities they live with the same love and passion shared on Friday Nights. This is why I believe that football is still the greatest team sport in the world. As always, thanks to you and so many others in our community for supporting our program. Thank you for your words of encouragement, win or lose, and for always being there for our players. I can assure you that they are working hard to do their best for their teammates and for their community.

Unfortunately, we can’t cover the damage the Cougars do on the scoreboard. At Kentucky Farm Bureau, we’ve found the best way to score points with Kentuckians is to provide the home and auto coverage they need — along with the personal service they deserve. It also helps to be a true blue supporter of Kentucky athletics. We’re Kentucky’s leading property and casualty insurer, with an agent in every county who’s committed to providing the home and auto coverage you need — along with the personal service you deserve.
